When I Fell

Falling in love is tricky. There are so many movies and books that make it seem so easy and passionate and right but in the real word it's confusing and exciting and fun and frustrating and in the real world, things get in the way.

Ruby's point of view

I wake up at eleven the next morning. Chris is still fast asleep, laid flat on his back with his arms and legs spread out everywhere. I decide it's probably best that I get out of bed, not that he's giving me much choice. It was so nice sleeping in there last night, I felt so close to him, rather than feeling close to him and also worrying about Jonas finding out. I could just concentrate on him and I loved that.

I'm just opening his wardrobe door to get a hoodie when he wakes up.

"What are you doing?" he asks, sleepily.

"I'm freezing, can I get a hoodie?"

"Yeah, of course." he mutters, rolling onto his side and pulling the covers up to his chin. I go towards the bathroom when he says "Where are you going?"

"You sound like a whiny two year old with all the questions." I laugh, turning back around. "Can I use your shower?"

"Yeah, of course, but not now." he looks at the clock and then smiles at me, still sleepy. "Come back to bed for an hour."

I nibble on my lip, looking at the clock. "I don't wanna be late home, it's gonna look weird if I show up with wet hair."

"Just come back to bed, stop worrying."

"I'm not worrying."

"Then come here."

"Let me go in the shower first."

"I hate you!" he calls after me.

"Love you!" I call back.

After my shower, I get dressed in his hoodie which comes down to a few inches above my knees and climb back into bed. He's asleep again. He stirs but doesn't open his eyes.

"You're back." he mumbles, trying and failing to put his arm around me a few times before he cracks it.

"I am." I mumble, settling into the warmth of his bed and resting my head on his shoulder. As always.

"I don't wanna let you go back to yours. Then we have to be all quiet and secretive again." he says, opening his eyes.

"I know."

"You know since you missed out the whole rebellious teenager phase?"

"You never snuck out at night?"

"Well sneak out tonight and meet me somewhere. It's too cold for the beach but meet me near town, where that fountain is. We'll go and sit in a café or something, it'll be fun."

I laugh, gently. "Are you serious?"

He grins. "Yeah."

I nod. "Alright then. I'll meet you at midnight."

"Midnight it is." he kisses me.
