11. My First Smile
The boys ordered drinks and nachos (which were stale).
They were all drunk enough for me to convince them to dance with me.
When my favourite song came on I sang/screamed along at the top of my lungs. The boys all laughed at my half hearted singing.
I felt my lips form something that felt foreign, a smile. A true smile. I can't even remember the last time a real smile was plastered on my face, but it felt good. And it was easy.
Right after my song finished a slow song started to play, without thinking I dragged Cal to the centre of the floor forcing him to dance with me, which was quite easy considering his amount of consumption.
My head rested on his shoulder, I could hear the rapid beating of his heart. "We really weren't bad, right? You weren't just sparing our feelings?"
I smiled at his worry. "You guys were great, truly." I lifted my head to look him in the eyes. "Especially you."
We stared at each other for a second, not moving. His eyes pierced my soul. I pulled away quickly. I couldn't let him in, I physically felt my wall start to corrode. "The songs over." I whispered.
