Joyce felt the conciousness slipping from her grasp as she watched James' boots as he walked away, leaving her, on to another mission.
Hydra had their hold back on James, and they weren't letting go. James would never remember Joyce. He would never have a flashback. The memories of her would never come back. Joyce had to let go.
And she was letting go.
Joyce saw everything go dark, and after trying to breathe for awhile, she gave in. Death wrapped around her like a blanket, and soon, she was out cold on the floor of the Hydra prison cell.
James had almost killed Joyce, and not once did he feel guilty about it.
James walked back to the Hydra agents, who, returning to normal, would wipe his memory and cryogenically freeze him again and again until they needed him to do another mission.
Ward was struck with guilt as soon as he saw the blood on James' hand.
Crossbones stared at Ward's guilt-stricken face as if Ward was insane.
Pierce ordered Crossbones to wipe James' memory.
After that, another Hydra agent would freeze him.
Joyce wasn't going to give up that easy. She tried her hardest to breathe, and the pain in her side was almost too much to bear.
It seemed like she spent an eternity in that prison cell, wondering what might come her way next.
The door wasn't shut all the way, a small bit of light shone through to prove it.
Joyce stood, almost immediately loosing balance, and tried her hardest to reach the doorway. She peeked her head out, and no one was around.
Someone at the end of the hallway was screaming, and Joyce was fully conviced it was herself unto she realized,
It was James.
She ran at full speed, not feeling the pain in her side, or burning in her lungs. She ran, and as soon as she reached the end of the hallway, she was face-to-face with The Winter Soldier.
His instincts kicked in, and he immediately began fighting her.
Joyce was so glad she had taken Martial Arts classes as a kid.
Her instincts kicked in too, and she fought back.
The two fought until somehow Joyce had James pinned on the floor.
"James," She said. "Your name is James." She told him.
"Who's James?" The Soldier asked.
