The Life of Leah Clearwater (Book 2)

Have you read The Stories of Leah Clearwater yet? If not, you'll need to read that first. This is book 2 in the Leah Clearwater stories. It takes place roughly six years after the end of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer.

We wondered what had happened, once the Volturi were confronted. Well six years later, Leah, and Hunter are together. Living in Port Angeles, fulfilling their careers. Hunter is a teacher, and Leah a nurse; how could things get any better? Well there's much more to the story, and that includes the Storm that arrives.

I've had the lovely addition of my co-author Ms. Ara Storm. She's my lovely beta, and editor as well.

53. Chapter 51 - Christmas Day

Rose smiled taking everyone’s coats. She smiled, and looked at Ara as she walked in, "May I hang it up?" She smiled.

I nearly die as Rose asks me for my coat, "Can I keep it on?" My voice is quiet. "or can I help with the coats."

Rose nodded, "I will never pass on the offer of help. Come talk to me." She smiled walking down the hall

I happily follow her down the hall, my nerves had to play their cards now.

"I know what's under the coat. You're going to look amazing as usual." She smiled

"Dresses are usually a no go for me," sighing, "thanks, okay I will take my coat off and walk down the hall." I kissed Rose on the cheek and handed her my coat.

She hung it up. Emmett smiled, "You look marvelous sis."

I feel like I am walking the death march until I hear Emmett's unmistakable voice, I bow, "Thank you earwig." I smiled and walked very slowly from the hall into the room.

I looked up smiling at Ara, "You look beautiful."

"Thank you." I whisper, going over I kiss her cheek and sit down.

I held Sebastian, "Smile for Auntie Ara." He smiled, as Hunter brought me some tea.

"So we have you for how many days?" Carlisle asked.

Esme smiled, "A week."

My mom smiled, "We can show Sebastian La Push."

Seth grinned, "Sophia has your room Leah." I felt something star to crumble.

All these things were being rambled off at me, like a factory production line.

"Excuse me." I stood up, and went for the bathroom. I held onto Sebastian tightly.

 "Hormones suck." Chloe remarked.

Sebastian grinned like the cutie he is, oh dear, I turn to Chloe, "Boy do they suck." I wink and go to the bathroom door, "Can I come in?"

"Yes please." I rock Sebastian carefully.

I quietly walk in and close the door behind me, "I know you may think I am your shadow," chuckling, "but what Seth said hit a huge nerve in you." I smile at Sebastian.

I nod, "I'm glad you noticed. I think Chloe did as well. She covered for me."

"Of course I noticed, Chloe did too." Sitting down next to her, "Must have been hard to hear that, but time moves on, things change, sometimes too fast, and we can't keep up."

I nodded, "I've not been there since mom moved out. It's been hard."

"As hard as it is, I think it will do you good to go there, relive great memories," sigh, "and forge new ones." Nudging her lightly.

"She wants to go to the beach. The one where I was dumped. Where I've had disagreements with Sam. I do miss the house, but I don't. They've changed it. The beach." I shook my head.

"You can't let sour memories stop you from going to the beach but I do understand," hugging her lightly, "the house is a good place to begin, if you don't feel like the beach, tell her you'd rather not."

Jake knocked lightly, "Can I talk to the two of you?"

I look at Leah, "I think we should," I wink, "door's open Jacob." I stand up.

He slipped in, shutting the door. "Captain Asshat is prowling. Makah reservation.,you're safe to go. Paul told me. Dad is on his way here now, with Rachel. My heart dropped. "Jeez relax. Paul likes you." He looked at Ara, "He's like Emmett, and Edward mixed together."

"What I wouldn't do to give him a piece of my mind," smiling, "there's your opportunity Leah, don't miss it because of idiots," looking at Jacob, "oh a mind reading beast huh?" I crack a smile.

Jake laughed, "Ara they have similar personalities. The beach can wait. It's cold today." He smiled at me. Then it was as if something clicked. "Oh!" I looked at him, "Jacob Black you keep your mouth shut." I was threatening him. Then it hit me. I handed Sebastian to Jake, and he quickly stepped out.

I laugh back, then I see it, Leah shoves him out of the door, chuckling, "I can see he realizes."

I nod, then throw up. "I can't hide it from my parents." Jake played with Sebastian, and Renesmee joined in.

Rubbing her back, "Then today, you tell them."

I nodded, "It's starting early."

“You'll be fine, it's a phase." I begin playing with her hair.

I spoke softly, "Ara last time I wound up in the hospital."

"I can 99% tell you, you won't end up there as often as you did the first time around." I stare at her, wondering.

I look at her, "Was it because Sebastian has the gene?" I flushed the toilet, and laid on the cool floor.

I lay myself down opposite her, I nod my head, "Quite early on he detected danger and so he reacted, thus causing you to react."

I laid calculating, "So August or September."

Smiling, "I would reckon on, mid to late September," hugging her, "in a weird way you did wait two years, from the conception of Sebastian to the birth of this child." I wink.

I laugh, "Smart mouth" Emmett boomed, "That's my girl."

"Knew I could get you to smile," laughing, "oh yeah." I stand up and offer her my hand.

I take her hand, slowly getting up.

"Take it easy." She held onto me.

I finally got to my feet, holding onto her.

"You ready?" Smiling and keeping her steady.

"I think so." I look at her. I'm nervous.

"Deep breath, I'd rather you tell them but I can always ask?"

"I can tell them." I smiled.

I chuckle, "Sorted." gently I open the door.

Charlie walked over to me, hugging me once he saw me. "Hi kiddo. How are you?" I whispered, "Need to talk."

I let Leah go with Charlie, walking back into the room I sit down and rub my temple.

My mom knew something was up. Charlie, and I slipped down the hall.

"What's up kiddo?" He stopped looking at me.

"Please don't kill me." I feel like I'm about to sacrifice to the gods.

Charlie straightened up, "I don't like the fact you've started our conversation that way. What's going on?"

I was on the verge of tears, "Dad I'm pregnant."

He looked at me, "You are?" A smile spread across his face. "That's the greatest gift I could get today. Another grandchild." He hugged me.

I listen in on the hushed conversation, smiling I lean my head back against the arm of the sofa and close my eyes.

My mom left Harry with Esme, and walked down. "What's going on?"

I looked at her, and Charlie touched my stomach. My moms eyes went wide.

"Your kidding." My mom smiled. I shook my head. She hugged me tightly, "I'm happy for you."

Someone is blowing in my face, opening one eye it was none other than Emmett, "Sis," he whispers, "you did good." He nudges me. "Just doing my duty." I smile and begin to doze again.

My mom smiled, "Your dad, and uncle were twelve months apart." She winked. Fifteen months isn't too bad. I felt reassured.

Somewhere above the buzz of excitement I can hear chatter, my body really doesn't feel like waking up but I make myself open my eyes.

My mom, Charlie, and I walked out. "Hey Uncle Seth, your sister has a present on the way for you." Seth jumped up, running over to me. "REALLY?"

I nodded.

"Oh I'm so excited." Seth grinned.

"Congrats." Chloe smiled.

Billy, Paul, and Rachel arrived, and made their way inside, "Hey everyone. Merry Christmas."

Billy wheeled himself over to me, "Can I hold the pup?" I laughed, "Of course Billy."

Sebastian took right to him.

Billy looked at Ara, "Hello Dr. Storm. I want to welcome you on behalf of La Push.

Sitting upright, just in time, more guests are arriving, "Ah Billy Black, Jacob's father, thank you, such a pleasure to meet you." I shake his hand and smile.

Billy looked at me, "It's true. You look different when carrying a pup."

"This one doesn't have the gene." Ara spoke, smiling.

Billy smiled, "That's ok. Wait? I thought Sebastian had the gene."

Jacob grinned at me, "Sorry."

Billy was slightly confused. "This one." He looked at me. "I meant you holding Sebastian. Are you pregnant?"

I nodded, "A few weeks along is all."

I raise my hand, "My fault, I am a lot more than just a vampire-ish person Mr Black, please call me Ara." Smiling.

Billy nodded, "Ara. I'm Billy. I can whoop Charlie's butt in anything."

Charlie laughed, "I have you beat in grandkids."

Billy laughed, "That just means you're old."

Carlisle chuckled, "I'm ancient then."

"Pleasure to meet you," My head throbs and I ignore it, "that would make me a dinosaur."

Emmett pretended to be a dinosaur, he winks at me.

"Presents please." Renesmee grinned. She started passing them out. Hunter smiled, watching Sebastian play with the paper.

"Uncle Hunter, there's one more at the back of the tree. Can you grab it."

Hunter got up, and found the small box.

He looked at it, and smiled.

Alice put on Believe by Josh Groban in the background.

He opened the box, and found a silver bell.

A small note was underneath it.

"Found this on the seat of my sleigh. Better fix that hole in your pocket."

 Mr. C

He shook it, and teared up. I spoke softly, going over, and kneeling behind him.

"At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe."

Hunter turned, and hugged me tightly. I could feel his tears against my cheek. "Leah you don't know what you've done for me." He pulled back looking at me. "You made a dream come true." I smiled, and kissed him softly.

I'm still sort of clueless, but it is fun to watch, I watch as Hunter takes out the bell, Leah recites a pivotal piece from the Polar express, I see happiness, love and peace, just the way it should be.

He smiled, stroking my cheek. "You brought my mom for Christmas, when nobody else could." My heart broke, I never realized how much he missed his mom. He looked at me, "I'm sorry I can't do that for you."

I smiled, patting his cheek, "Don't worry about it. I need to run an errand. Sebastian and I will be right back." I kissed him, and packed Sebastian into his car seat, and zipped up his carseat cover, and left.

Strange, I never really thought if Hunter missed his mum, I never really missed anyone, I watch Leah leave. A slight warm breeze wafts by me, poking my head up two people stand there, one is Harry Clearwater, the other I have no idea, Harry says I have to say something to Billy, I stand up and look at Billy, "You may think me crazy, but," I whisper, "Leah's father says hello and he knows you miss his fish fry."

Billy laughed, "That's Harry. Tell him I miss it to."

Sue smiled, "Ara you're truly gifted.

Charlie turned slightly red, "Super beings and such.

"Harry says he misses you all too," I look at Sue, "he is so proud of you, he keeps his eye on little Harry," typical Charlie, "Grandma Swan says get used to it, Charlie I never asked for these," I start laughing. Harry fades leaving me with the other person, she starts walking out, so I follow.

Billy looked at Charlie, "You thought Jacob was going through a phase." He winked.

I lean against my car, "Who are you? Are you lost?" The person begins talking, something clicks, just as I get pain running through my head.

I'd pulled up at the cemetery, and pulled Sebastian out. I brought his car seat over to my dads grave. The fishing lure sat there. "Dad this is Sebastian. He's going to have a sibling next year. You should be here. I love Charlie, and he's amazing to all of us." I started to cry. Sebastian was whining, and I looked around.

"What do you want me to say? I am sure I will get locked up for this someday," I listen carefully, she tells me that her copy of the Polar Express she used to read is getting old now, smiling I open my car door, all wrapped up is one extra present, ready for Sebastian, I feel her whispy lips touch my forehead, then she fades too.

Hunter sat quietly, and held the bell. "She had it engraved. It says Believe Hunter." He looked up, and everyone was smiling. "She was worried about it all coordinating with times, and schedules. She's been working very hard." Esme smiled.

I wander back upstairs with the small present in my hand, "Guys, sorry to spoil the routine, as such but could I give this Hunter, it's for Sebastian, but he is too young."

Everyone smiled. "You're not spoiling routine. Don't worry." Carlisle smiled.

Charlie looked at my mom, "Is she there?"

My mom nodded, "First time in how many years?" Charlie nodded, "Well she's trying."

"Thank you," I wander over to Hunter, "I really don't want to upset you, but this," I hand him the wrapped gift, "is for Sebastian but he is too young, so you open it for him," I am ready to cry, "your mum said the copy she used to," I tear up, "read to you is falling to pieces." I stand there and cry.

Hunter hugged Ara tightly, "Don't cry." He took it carefully, and smiled. Inside Chris Van Allsburgh had signed it. Below  his name read, "If you believe."

I hugged him back, sobbing, "I need some fresh air." I'm outside in seconds.

I finally got back to the house, and spotted Ara outside. I didn't disrupt her. I brought Sebastian in, handing him to Hunter. "Be right back." I kissed him, then walked outside, and over to Ara. "Come with me." I took her hand, and brought her down to the river. "Let it out. That's what you always say to me."

I try and smile, "Everything is so magical, your father appeared, Hunter's mum appeared," trying to catch my breath, "she said that the copy she used to read was wearing out, so I wrapped the copy I had, it was signed by the author." I lean my head against her shoulder. I hold her. "I put his copy in a special case." I just hate watching her be so upset. "Emotional is normal, especially with this time of year. This time of year, brings warmth to the heart, magic to life, these," I sigh, "tears are happy tears, emotions are so new, I feel like a child having their first Christmas, just like Sebastian is now."

I pull her hand, and place it on my heart. "Feel that?"

Her heart beats, a soothing sound, "I do, such a wonderful sound."

"That's been dead for years. Even with Hunter. I love that man more then life itself. I love all of my family. You! You who was once Joan of Arc, the woman I strived to be like, fought like hell. You still fight. You've brought me up from a dark place. I'm still under the surface of the waves at times, but you've saved me. Hunter was getting tired, and you came in. Pisa wasn't just a honeymoon, it was fate."

My entire body shakes, her words hit me like a wave crashing against the rocks, "Once I was dead, I wandered, trying to hide, then Pisa came, you were there, a connection formed," smiling, "I was never Joan of Arc, not really, Joan of Arc was you and still is, you brought me to life." I give her a huge hug.

I hugged Ara back. "I turned on my alpha. I ratted his plan out to my new alpha. I protected someone, at one time I couldn't have truly cared about. I fought for what I felt was right. We're both Joan of Arc." I smile.

"I was wounded in the neck, both of us fight for what we feel deep inside is right," sighing, "so long as we stand together, nothing is impossible." I kiss her cheek and smile.

"So you'll be my birth coach again?" I anxiously awaited her response.

Grinning back, "As long as you want me, I'll be whatever you want me to be." Winking.

I nod, "I need you."

Emmett yelled out the front door, "Come on you old ladies. We have a movie to watch. Pop corn, gifts, coco and what ever crap people eat today." I laughed,

"I will always need you," Turning round, "Okay Sven, keep the antlers on." Smiling we both head back inside.
