The Life of Leah Clearwater (Book 2)

Have you read The Stories of Leah Clearwater yet? If not, you'll need to read that first. This is book 2 in the Leah Clearwater stories. It takes place roughly six years after the end of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. We wondered what had happened, once the Volturi were confronted. Well six years later, Leah, and Hunter are together. Living in Port Angeles, fulfilling their careers. Hunter is a teacher, and Leah a nurse; how could things get any better? Well there's much more to the story, and that includes the Storm that arrives. I've had the lovely addition of my co-author Ms. Ara Storm. She's my lovely beta, and editor as well.

30. Chapter 29 - Pisa is breathtaking in many ways.

We were relaxing, well attempting to. Hunter noticed the tension in my shoulders, and the rigidness of my body. "Leah talk to me now. I know you all to well." I looked at him, "A vampire bought us the food. Her name is Ara. She's a medical examiner. It was like talking to Carlisle." Hunter stared at me. "I was nauseated, and she came over and comforted me. Peppermint tea she said works. Bruschetta was too heavy." He nodded slowly, "Wow. How did you know?" I took in a deep breath, and spoke calmly, "Her contact fell out. She has the same colored eyes as a vegetarian vampire." Hunter rubbed the back of his neck, then his face. "So she's no threat. Quite caring actually." I tried to reassure him. Hunter sat down, looking at me, "Could that be the feeling you had?" I nodded, "I'm willing to bet money on it." He nodded, "Well at least we know she's vegetarian, and doesn't appear to pose any threat." I nodded, yawning. Hunter kissed my forehead, and went to set up a movie for us. I grabbed my journal, and wanted to write an entry. I ended up looking back at my previous entries.

I want it all to stop. That's just it. I'm so nauseated, and I'm exhausted. I can't even write. This is ridiculous.

I've been Leah Emerson for one week now. It feels absolutely amazing. I've worked three shifts, and I'm doing better. Hunter told me all the students cheered, when they found out about the wedding. People at work asked. It was absolutely perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better ceremony. I just wish my dad was there. I miss him so much. Right now Hunter's, hanging with Travis and they're laughing. I'm curled up in the sunroom.

I'm at the Cullen's with the entire family. This song has come on, and it's like a moment was sparked. It's called My Love by Sia. Hunter just looked at me, and it's as though he just couldn't stop looking at me. He moved quietly across the room, and sat beside me, and gently held me, and rubbed my stomach. Everyone watched quietly. It was so surreal. Hunter went to bed, and I'm up by the fire. They're setting it up for when everyone arrives in the morning.I didn't buy any gifts for anyone. It's just because I've been exhausted. I feel horrible. Hunter walked up behind me, and kissed my neck. "Come join me baby." He took the journal closing it, and set it down.

"Are you ok?" I asked looking up into his blue eyes. He smiled, "Why of course. Why wouldn't I be?" He knelt down beside me, "Are you ok?" He gently touched my stomach, and I nodded. "You're quiet, and that worries me." I smiled, "I'm just a bit warn down. Emotionally, and physically." Hunter sighed. I gently stroked his cheek, "Baby this is natural with pregnancy." He smiled, then looked at me, "Alright so how about we rest, for the night. Tomorrow some more sightseeing? We leave on the 31st. I'm sorry it's so short." I shook my head, "No it's a perfect amount of time." He smiled, and stood up, helping me up.

The night past, and I sat up quickly. A cold sweat covered me, and I looked around the dark room. "Leah what is it?" Hunter was sitting up, quietly reading. "I don't know." I threw the covers off, and stood up. I walked over, opening the balcony doors. The cold air rushed into the room. He tossed his book on the bed, and walked over behind me. "Well you just shot out of the bed." I turned and looked at him, "My hearts racing. It may have been a dream, but I can't remember any." He held me at arms length, by my shoulders and looked me over. "That's happened to me before. Let's go have you wash your face, and I will rub your back ok?' I nodded, and headed to the bathroom.

When I woke again, Hunter was sitting at the table. The paper was open, and he was reading. "Good morning, excuse me afternoon." I looked at him, feeling guilty. "Sorry I slept so late." He smirked, "I'm kidding it's only nine thirty." I sat up, and walked over to him, resting my chin on his shoulder. "Have you slept at all?" I questioned. He nodded, "Yes baby. When you woke last night, it was only about eleven o'clock. Once you were asleep, I fell asleep. I woke up early, and had breakfast. I hope you don't mind." I smiled, "That's fine." I grabbed a grape from the bowl, and popped it into my mouth. He kissed my lips, and wrapped an arm around me. "Go shower, and we can get going." I smiled, and did as suggested.

We arrived at the Santa Maria della Spina. It was a small, Gothic church. The detail was absolutely break taking. It sat on the Arno river, which in itself was beautiful as well. The church was small, a single room. The detail, and painting were beautiful. Hunter, and I spent about two hours photographing, and taking in the small details. The Madonna, just sat with me. I couldn't explain the simplicity of her beauty. Hunter smiled, watching me, "I'm glad you're enjoying this." I nodded. Every chance he could get, he'd touch my stomach. It was such an amazing experience. After viewing the small church, we continued our viewing of Pisa.

The sun was setting, and the street lights were illuminating the city. "Breathtaking isn't it." Hunter smiled, as we looked for somewhere to eat. I nodded, and looked around. There they were. Two cloaked figures, moving carefully. Our eye's locked with one another, and the taller one, nodded to me. "Baby, come on." I tugged on Hunter's arm. He looked up to see what I saw. "What? Are you crazy?" He tightened his grip on my hand. "Trust me." I started towards the figures who moved carefully, and waited for us to arrive.

"Well it's true, isn't it?" Felix's voice was as how I remembered it. I nodded, "Felix, and Demetri." Hunter wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me against him. "Wolf." I smiled, "Leah." Demetri nodded slowly, "So what has brought you to this lovely city?" He questioned, looking around quickly to make sure nobody was looking. "Honeymoon, and yourselves?" Felix spoke softly, "A messenger. You know eyes are on you correct?" Hunter looked around. "Not in a literal sense at the moment. Someone let us know you were here." I raised an eyebrow, "Cullens?" They shook their heads. "No. Just received a letter, stating the wolf was in the city." I nodded, "Well I'm of no threat, and you know that." Felix smirked, "Actually Aro was wondering, if you might be interested in," I cut him off, "No. Tell him I politely decline. It was a pleasure seeing you again. I must be on my way." I turned and tugged on Hunters arm, trying to persuade him to move. "Be careful. You never know who may be lurking. We blend in." I turned expecting to see them, but they had vanished. "What?" Hunter whipped around looking, "Someone's following us?" I shook my head, "It's a scare tactic." That's when my phone vibrated. A number I didn't recognize, the message was simple.

"Relax. You need to take care of yourself. Go to Antica Trattoria Da Bruno. This is the address, 12 Porta a Lucca, 56123 Pisa, Italy. Stay away from Bruschetta. Order what you like. Take care."

Hunter looked at me, "Hello?" I smiled, and looked up at him, "I just received this message." I showed him my phone, and he nodded, "Let's go then." He hailed a cab, and we were on our way. We sat back relaxing, after finishing our meals. The server came over, and let us know we were all set. Hunter looked at me, "So someone obviously paid for this. Any idea?" My phone buzzed again, and I looked at Hunter. I pulled it out, and checked.

"Hope you enjoyed the meal. Take it easy for the rest of the night. Peppermint tea before bed. It will help you sleep. Best regards."

I handed my phone to Hunter, "Your "stranger" friend?" He handed the phone back looking at me. I shrugged, "Who else?" Alice wouldn't be that cryptic. Then my phone rang, "Speaking of the devil." Hunter laughed. "Hello Alice." I smiled, and looked at Hunter. "How's the trip going?" She asked. I smiled, running my finger tips against the satin table cloth, "Very well. I have a question for you." Alice giggled, "Shoot for it." I started to speak, and then she cut me off, "Who's watching you?" The smile dropped from my face, "Wait, how do you?" She spoke quickly, "Just be careful ok. Finish your trip, and keep your eyes open. You're ok, just someone's interested in you." Hunter reached across the table, and held my hand. "I met someone like the family here. A young girl, well woman. She had dark hair, with a silvery white streak in it." Alice was quiet, "I'm not sure who that is, but you described her perfectly. She's not a threat, but you're going to meet again. Just be vigilant. See you when you get home." The call ended. Hunter looked at me, "A vision?" I nodded, "She said I'm going to meet again, the woman." Hunter squeezed my hand gently, "I promise you'll both be safe." That was all I needed to hear. My husband promised me my safety. The question was, what if he couldn't keep us safe?
