The Life of Leah Clearwater (Book 2)

Have you read The Stories of Leah Clearwater yet? If not, you'll need to read that first. This is book 2 in the Leah Clearwater stories. It takes place roughly six years after the end of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer. We wondered what had happened, once the Volturi were confronted. Well six years later, Leah, and Hunter are together. Living in Port Angeles, fulfilling their careers. Hunter is a teacher, and Leah a nurse; how could things get any better? Well there's much more to the story, and that includes the Storm that arrives. I've had the lovely addition of my co-author Ms. Ara Storm. She's my lovely beta, and editor as well.

28. Chapter 27 - I now pronounce you...

I woke up quietly. Hunter was snoring beside me. He was exhausted, and finally it had caught up to him. I slipped out of bed, and pulled my bathrobe on. I slid my feet into my slippers, and made my way down the hall. The door to the nursery was shut, and I quietly turned the nob stepping in. Inside it had been furnished. The walls were painted, a soft grey that looked amazing. On the wall, the words, love, family, hope, laugh, dance; were painted above the crib. I smiled. The crib was a beautiful black. The bedding was a lovely green apple shade, and matched the curtains. Everything tied into one another. The rocking chair was a beautiful black, and matched the changing table, and dresser. Esme had done a lovely job. I sat down in the rocking chair, and gently started rocking, looking out the window. I started dozing off once again.

Hunter woke up, and felt around on the bed. "Baby?" He quickly got out of bed, and checked the bathroom to find no sign of me. He hurried downstairs, and found Alice, Esme, Bella, and Rosalie all downstairs. "Whoa." Esme smiled, "Breakfast, and coffee hun. Charlie, and Sue are still asleep." Hunter looked around. "She's asleep in the nursery. She dozed off quietly in the rocking chair." Rosalie smiled. We heard her get up." Hunter relaxed a little, sitting down, "Just scared." Esme smiled setting the plate, and cup of coffee down. "She slept through the night. I never heard her." Bella smiled, "She stirred a little. Sue put a heating pad on her stomach." Hunter looked up, "How is she doing?" My mom walked in, "I'm doing well hun." She smiled, rubbing Hunter's back. She sat down, and started to eat with him.

When I finally woke up, I stretched and shifted. Something was under my feat. "Hi there." Soft blue eyes were looking at me. His book sat in his lap. "What time is it?" I asked, and Hunter checked his watch, "Twelve thirty babe. You hungry at all?" I shook my head, "No I'm ok." He looked at me, "You should eat something." I disagreed, I didn't need anything. My mom walked in quietly, and held my hand, "You have to eat something small. Charlie is bringing up some broth for you. There's no arguing about it alright. Carlisle want's to make sure you're ok to move forward with today." I looked at Hunter, and he smiled, "That's up to you babe." I smiled, and closed my eyes momentarily. "Leah?" My mom questioned, and the tears started down my cheeks. "What is it?" Hunter leaned forward. My mom knew some how. She knelt down carefully, and took my hands in hers. "Leah, he'd be so happy to see you today. He's with you, in here." She gently placed her hand on my chest. I nodded, trying so hard to hold it back. Charlie walked in with a mug, with warm broth, "Here you go hun." My mom took it, and handed it to me. I took it, holding it carefully.

I finally finished the broth, and gently rocked. A soft knock on the door, drew my attention to Carlisle. "Hi there." His smile was always a wonderful sight. "So I came to check on you. See how you're doing today?" He walked in, and knelt down beside me. He carefully pressed his fingers against my wrist, and took my vitals. "She's doing ok. No temperature. No vomiting. A little emotional, but that's to be expected." He smiled, and gently felt my stomach. "Carlisle it's a normal pregnancy." He looked at me, "I'm making sure there's no cramping, and that the muscles are relaxed hun." I nodded, and let my head fall back gently. "What is it?" Carlisle stopped looking at me. "Slight nausea." He smiled, and placed a small pill in my hand. "Compazine." I took it, and swallowed it with a sip of water. Carlisle smiled, "Rest for now." He smiled, and stood up leaving the room. Hunter moved over to me, and touched my stomach gently, "Do you want to go lay down. I can rub your stomach if that helps." I smiled, "I'd actually really enjoy that." He smiled, and stood up, and scooped me up. "Let's go beautiful."

I was allowed to sleep until about three o'clock in the afternoon. I woke up this time, and Alice was just pulling the dress out of the bag. "Hi sleeping beauty." I smiled, "Hi Pixie." She grinned, "So go take a hot shower, and let's get you ready." I sat up slowly, and stretched. "Are you ok?" I nodded, "Yep just a bit stiff still, and sleepy." Alice smirked, "So I guess a quiet wedding night huh." I blushed, and she giggled. Edward, and Emmett's laughs from downstairs told me they heard us talking. "Oh god. Like they don't have anything better to be doing." Rosalie walked in and smiled, "Come on hun." She linked her arm with mine, and walked with me into the bathroom. "So hair up, or down?" I looked at in the mirror, "I'm not sure. I didn't want a veil, or any hair accessories." Rose smiled, "So we could do a messy bun, and have a few loose strands frame your face?" I smiled, "That sounds absolutely perfect." Rose smiled, "Good now get going. We have a wedding to get you ready for." She stepped out, and I undressed, and climbed in under the warm stream of water.

I was in my dress, with hair and makeup done. Alice, and Rosalie just stared at me in utter shock. "If it looks bad, please fix it." I was nervous with their reaction. "NO!" Alice blurted out. Rosalie smiled, and moved the strand of hair she'd been fiddling with. "You look absolutely perfect. We're so used to seeing you in jeans, and a t-shirt, or scrubs." They turned me to look at myself in the full length mirror. There reflected back at me, was someone I did not recognize. I was dressed in a beautiful satin gown, that was fitted to my body. Just below the knee, the dress flared slightly, a small train would follow behind me. Over the satin, there was beautiful overlay of lace, with thousands of Swarovski crystals sewn in. It was modest over my chest, exposing only a small area, but nothing revealing. It covered my shoulders, and was collared like a turtle neck. The back was open in the shape of a wide diamond, exposing my copper skin. Small satin covered buttons held the back of my dress closed. It was absolutely breath taking. Alice had picked out matching satin flats for me to wear. She, and Rosalie smiled. I couldn't believe it. "Well?" Alice asked, I was speechless. Esme, Bella, Renesmee, and my mom stepped in. "Oh my God Leah that's absolutely breath taking." My mom started to tear up. She was wearing a blue dress, with a purple shall, and so was Esme. "Both mom's have matching dresses." Rosalie grinned. The guys look just as good. "Charlie's even wearing a tuxedo." I turned to find Bella smiling at me. "Well we need to get going. I need to go ahead of you, so I will see you at the book shop." Alice kissed my cheek, and disappeared. Rosalie put my earrings in. They were in the shape of a flower petal, Swarovski crystals as well, and had a small pearl that dangled from them. My mom smiled, and put my Infinity bracelet Hunter gave to me on my right wrist. "Perfect." Esme smiled.

We pulled up to the book store. The inside was lit up. People were walking down the sidewalk. My mom, and Charlie helped me out of the car. "You look," Charlie choked up. My mom smiled, "You look beautiful hun." I smiled, and swallowed the tears back. "Let's get you inside." I walked in, and it was completely transformed. Photos in black and white of Hunter, and I were placed around the shop. I teared up, just looking around. There was a purple runner that led towards the back of the store, to the aisle where we met. On the edges were small white candles, protected by glass weather vanes. I saw our family standing there. Hunters aunts, uncles, and cousins. My family both on the Cullen side, and my wolf family. I swallowed then the music of Des Ree's Kissing You started. Charlie was on my left, and my mom was on my right. We started the slow decent down the aisle way created. Our loved ones were on either side watching, and smiling. There at the end stood Travis, beside Hunter. Bella stood on my side, waiting for me. She looked beautiful wearing a saphire gown, Alice had to have picked out. She smiled, and gave a small wave. That's when I saw Hunter. He was wearing a black tuxedo with a white shirt, and a beautiful blue tie. The colors symbolized when I'd imprinted on him in September. I started to tear up even more. I was finally there at the end. My mom kissed my cheek, and hugged me then went to her seat. Charlie looked at me, and smiled, "You're my beautiful daughter, who's going to be a beautiful wife." He smiled, and hugged me then went to join my mother.

The minister spoke, smiling. Hunter held my hands, his thumb rubbing my knuckles gently. "Now I turn it over to the couple. They will share in their own words, what's brought them together." Hunter smiled, and started to speak. "I first saw you, and told my best friend, "That's the girl I'm going to marry." It was love at first sight for me. I waited for you to return, and you did on that September afternoon. You bumped into me, and I knew it was you. Leah you bring such happiness to my life. You're the sunshine on grey days, which there are a lot of those in Washington." Everyone chuckled. "You always have a smile on your face. You never let anything hold you back. You've always supported me in everything I do, and I couldn't ask for a more amazing friend, wife, lover, and mother to my children. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you." I was starting to shake from the nerves, and he smiled at me. Now it was my turn, "When I first saw you, I blushed. Then I turned around, and banged into you. I was in a rush. Then I felt the instantaneous connection, and I knew you were mine. You've always made me laugh, and feel safe. You give unconditionally to me, in every way possible. It's as though there's some invisible bond between us, that knew we were meant to be. I will love you forever, until our days come to an end. I'm so happy to be your wife." The minister took over, and spoke some more. "Now at this time, the couple will be exchanging rings. Now Hunter please repeat after me. The sun smiles on us today, our wedding day, and how can it not, for our love is stronger than forever and our hearts beat together as one. I promise to be a true and faithful partner from this day forward, in all life's circumstances, as we face them together. In the joys and sorrows, the good times and bad, in sickness or in health, I will always be there for you, to comfort you, love you, honor and cherish you, now and forevermore." Hunter recited the lines after the minister had. Then he slid the wedding band onto my finger, then slid my engagement ring on. Now it was my turn, and I did so. Then it was as if everything went into slow motion. I shakily slid Hunters wedding band on. "I now pronounce you husband, and wife. You may kiss the bride." The kiss was deep, filled with such passion, and emotion. When we pulled away, everyone cheered. I smiled, and Hunter smiled back at me, "Leah Emerson." I nodded, smiling.

The music started up softly, and the families erupted into cheers, and whistles. Train's Marry Me started playing in the background. There were tables set up in the book store, and everything was tied in with purples, and blues. I smiled, "Purple for February." Hunter nodded, "When I proposed to you." He whispered softly against my ear. We made our way around, and chatted with family, and friends. "Look at that. Leah's settled down." Paul laughed, then hugged me. "I'm glad you found someone. I wish you both the best." Rachel hugged each of us as well. The night flowed easily with food, then it came time to dance. "So for the father daughter dance, we need Charlie, and the bride up here." Charlie turned several shades of red, and I smiled. The music started, and we moved around the small area that was created to dance.

Mama don't you worry bout your daughter

'cause you're leaving her in real good hands,

I'm a real good man.

Now the picture of this man is slowly coming into view.

Papa don't you fret and don't forget that one day you was in my shoes,

Somehow you paid your dues.

Now you're the picture of a man that I someday wanna be.

I know it's hard, watching the changes in our lives,

But I want to make your daughter my wife.

Mama don't you worry bout your daughter

'cause you're leaving her in real good hands,

I'm a real good man.

Now the picture of this love is slowly coming into view.

Papa don't you fret and don't forget that one day you was in my shoes,

Somehow you pay your dues.

Now you're the picture of the man that I someday wanna be.

I know it's hard, watching the changes in our lives,

But I want to make,

Wanna make your daughter my wife.

Mama don't you worry bout your daughter

'cause you're leaving her in real good hands,

I'm a real good man.

Now the picture of this love is surely coming into view.

Papa don't you fret and don't forget that one day you was in my shoes,

Somehow you've paid your dues.

Now you're the picture of the man that I someday wanna be.

And the picture of this man is surely coming into view.

And the picture of my wife is slowly coming into view.

And the picture of this love is surely coming into view.

Yeah the picture of this love is surely coming into view.

And I'm sure enough,

I'm sure that's exactly what I wanna do.

The picture of this man is surely coming into view.

He, and I moved slowly around the dance floor. I rested my head on his shoulder, and he whispered, "Your dad would be so proud of you. I'm proud of you as well." I started to cry, and he gently pulled back, and wiped my tears away. Hunter came over, and grinned, "I picked this song. It's a bit up beat. We don't have to dance crazy." I looked at him, and then Emmett's laugh boomed. I knew he'd helped Hunter with this idea.

Whooo umm yeah...

Life's like a road that you travel on

When there's one day here and the next day gone

Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand

Sometimes you turn your back to the wind

There's a world outside ev'ry darkened door

Where blues won't haunt you anymore

Where brave are free and lovers soar

Come ride with me to the distant shore

We won't hesitate

To break down the garden gate

There's not much time left today

Life is a highway

I wanna ride it all night long

If you're going my way

I wanna drive it all night long

Through all these cities and all these towns

It's in my blood and it's all around

I love you now like I loved you then

This is the road and these are the hands

From Mozambique to those Memphis nights

The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights

Knock me down get back up again

You're in my blood

I'm not a lonely man

There's no load I can't hold

Road so rough this I know

I'll be there when the light comes in

Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway

I wanna ride it all night long

If you're going my way

I wanna drive it all night long

Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah

Life is a highway

I wanna ride it all night long

If you're going my way

I wanna drive it all night long

There was a distance between you and I (between you and I)

A misunderstanding once

But now we look it in the eye

Ooooo...Yeah!

There ain't no load that I can't hold

Road so rough this I know

I'll be there when the light comes in

Just tell 'em we're survivors

Life is a highway

I wanna ride it all night long

If you're going my way

I wanna drive it all night long

Gimme gimme gimme gimme yeah

Hunter smiled once the song had finished, and we sat down. The atmosphere was so relaxed. I was happy. I had my child, and my husband. After tonight, it could only get better. I was now Leah Emerson, wife of Hunter Emerson.
