15. Chapter Fifteen
I calmed down after roughly twenty minutes, or so. Carlisle cradled me against his chest. "Love slow down your breathing ok. Talk to me. I can give you an Adivan if it will help. Where's your bottle?" I shakily pointed at my purse. Carlisle reached over, and grabbed it fishing the bottle out. "Take one now, put it under your tongue. And I will stay with you tonight." I did as he said, and finally I felt my body relax. "I will be honest with everything ok. You have to do the same with me." He stroked my back, and I nodded. "I'm sorry I became so upset." He sighed softly, "I understand why it happened. A lot has gone on this evening." I stood up, and pulled him up towards me. He stood up, towering my height, looking down smiling. I started towards the stairs, gently pulling him along. "Love where are we going." I remained quiet, and we climbed upstairs quietly. We stood outside the closed door, to what was once Amy's room. I'd sold the crib, changing table, and her clothing. Her car seats, and strollers went with the sale. Carlisle looked at me, "Esme?" I placed my palm on the door knob, slowly gripping it. I whispered, "Nobody has been in here. Not since she died. I dismantled it all myself. I sold everything; except the rocking chair, and bureau." I turned the knob slowly. The click told that the door was released from its secure position. I pushed it open slowly, and flipped the light switch. The small porcelain lamp I painted illuminated the room. It was a teddy bear, and a mommy bear cuddled together. It was Amy, and I. Carlisle remained quiet taking everything in. I stepped in, and looked around. The room looked like it was waiting. Carlisle admired the rocking chair, and the bureau. I sat down in the chair, and gently rocked. Carlisle moved over to me, squatting in front of me. "Esme I don't want you shutting down on me. I'm also not going to push you." He held my hands in his. I loved Carlisle, and in such a short amount of time. "I'm afraid of losing again." He reached up stroking my cheek, "You're not going to lose me." I nestled my cheek into his hand, and he smiled. He smiled and whispered, "I'd like to spend the night with you. Get to know you. I love you." My heart swelled, and I nodded. "I have a change of clothes in my car. If I could wash these here?" He motioned towards what he was wearing. I nodded all too excited, and nervous at the same time. "I always have an overnight bag. Sometimes my shift runs late, and I need to be ready to go." So he was this amazing guy, and he wanted to be mine. "Alright let me go grab my things, I will be right back." He kissed me softly, then stood up leaving me in her room. I waited until he was downstairs. "Scott a part of me will always love you, and Amy, but I need to move on." I stood slowly, and walked to the door. I took one more glance around the room, then turned the light off and shut the door. I was in my bedroom, sitting on Scott's side. I held his wedding band, with my rings. I sat motionless, and stared. I turned on the iHome and put it on. The lyrics to Daylight started to play. Carlisle stood in the doorway, and waited a moment. Then he proceeded to sit beside me. He held me quietly, and remained silent. "This was playing when the accident happened. Scott sang this part." The lyrics were painful, and soothing at the same time. Adam Levines voice filled the quiet room. Then Carlisle spoke, "Scott, and Amy I promise to take care of her. I won't let any harm come to her. I will cherish her. I will respect her. I will adore her. I will make sure she has a happy life from this day forward. I pulled the small ring box out of his nightstand. "I need to do this." I slipped all three rings in the box. Together, there the rings would stay. They would hold that bond that Scott, and I will always have. "Scott I love you. Take care of Amy. I will make sure your parents are looked after." I put the box back in the nightstand and shut the drawer. That's when Carlisle surprised me, "And when the daylight comes, I won't go. Tonight I'm going to hold you so close. Cause in the daylight, we'll no longer be on our own." The song ended, and I could swear a gentle breeze touched my cheek.
