11. Chapter Eleven

We went shopping, and Alice headed home with her bundles of goodies. I came home, and returned to the comfort of the couch. “Hello television. Let’s watch a marathon of some stupid, ridiculous program. God only know’s I’ve probably seen every episode ever made.” I flipped it on, and made myself comfortable. I was quietly focused on the program at hand, when my phone vibrated.

“Hope everything is ok. I’ve not heard from you. I had a nice time with you last night.”

I read the text. “Holy shit!” I quickly replied back.

“Yeah, sorry my friend dragged me shopping. Not the first thing on my agenda for a day off.” I hit send, and set my phone down beside me again.

The phone lit up, and buzzed, “Sounds like it could be fun, if you’re buying fun things.”

I read the text, rather perplexed as to what he might be getting at. I shook my head, and replied, “I detest shopping. That mean’s for any sorts.” I hit send.

My phone buzzed in my hand, “Oh well that’s not fun, now is it. What if I took you shopping?” I looked at the message, and considered my reply.

“You barely know me, and you want to take me shopping. That’s not going to get you in my pants.” I hit send.

Several minutes passed before I received a reply. “My dear, I’m not looking to get into your pants. Your panties, well that would be after we became better acquainted.”
My jaw dropped, along with my phone. I immediately shook my head, and now I had no idea with how to reply to these words.

“Esme? Do I need to come check on you? I’m a doctor, and can make a house call.”

My heart pounded against my chest, and I was aching to see him again. To smell him, to feel him. I quickly wrote back, “Sorry was distracted. I’m ok.” I hit send.

He wrote back, “So about that house call. Are you lonely? I’m not rushing things. I was thinking a pizza, and beers?”

I replied, “Perfect.”

He sent back a simple happy face. I squealed, and quickly changed out of my drab attire.

I came back downstairs wearing a pair of jeans, that made my legs look great, and a tank top, with a flannel shirt over it. I decided no bra was a go. Hey incase there was any foreplay, I didn’t need articles of clothing getting in the way. I paced the house, and waited for him. Jesus what was I doing. Scott had been gone two months, and I was thinking about what would provide easier access. I felt horrible, so I quickly called Alice.
“What’s up doll?” I sighed, “I’m a widow, and it’s been two and half months, and I’m thinking about foreplay with Carlisle.” Alice whistled, “Well look who has a second date night in a row.” I snapped, “Alice back to the problem at hand. Am I a total bitch for moving on so quickly?” She giggled, “Sweetie relax. Your heart was broken, and the first thing it wants to do is mend itself. If it feels right, then go with it.” I felt a little relief from here saying that. “Alright. I will talk to you later.” She laughed, “Oh no, I’m going out to a club. You have fun, and tell me all about it.” I laughed, “Have fun. Ciao.” I hung up. Just then I heard a car pull up outside.

I tried to not appear clingy, or anxious, but waited by the door. I opened it before he rang the bell, “Well hello Esme.” He smiled, and stepped in, and kissed my on the cheek. I shut the door behind him. “Where shall we eat?” he asked. “Anywhere is fine.” He smirked, “So your bedroom?” I blushed, and he chuckled, “Living room. I have plates, so no dishes for you to wash.” I smiled, and walked in ahead of him. He set down the beer, and pizza, and took his coat off. He tossed it on the chair, and sat down beside me. “So shopping was boring huh?” He pulled a slice of pizza from the box, and put it on paper plate handing it to me. “Thank you, and yes it was boring. Too many people.” He smiled, “I understand that. So a relaxing night at home?” I smiled, taking a bite, and savoring the taste. “This is the best pizza in all of Seattle I swear.” The box red Olympia Pizza, “Not bad.” Carlisle took a slice, and started eating with me. He looked at me, the warmest of smiles shown across his perfect features. “He wiped at his mouth, and set his plate down, “So I want to know more about you. I know we’ve met under some unfortunate circumstances. If my flirtation was too much, please by all means make me aware of it.” I set down my plate, and looked him. “If you’re talking about what happened  to me when I was leaving work,” I shrugged, “Its in my past. That’s all I’m saying right now.” Carlisle nodded, “I understand. I know about your loss, I don’t want to rush things. I can’t stress that enough.” I smiled, “My best friend said, “If it feels right, then go with it.” Carlisle smiled, and leaned over kissing me softly on the lips. I returned the kiss, then he slowly pulled back.

I looked down, and tugged at my bottom lip with my teeth. He gently reached over, and released my lip. “Don’t do that. It’s not good for your lip. Plus they’re so beautiful, you wouldn’t want to ruin them.” His thumb gently stroked my cheek, and I turned into his hand, so his palm cradled my cheek. He smiled, “Would you like to finish up eating, or no?” I smiled, looking up at him, “I’m happy just having you touch me like this.” He smiled, and gently pushed me back, so I laid down on the couch. He hovered over me, never once moving his hand, “Put your hand on my chest.” I did as he asked. His heart was racing, “Every time I see you, this is what happens to me.” His accent, along with the warmth, and smoothness of his voice were like a warm desert for me. He kissed me, and hard. His lips crushed mine, his tongue slid into my mouth, and the most amazing eruption occurred between us. My hands snaked around his neck, and into his hair. He balanced himself on his elbows, now taking my face in both of his hands. He whispered against my lips, “If you want me to stop, tell me.” I shook my head, and pulled him back down to me. It felt like our bodies were on fire, as the electricity licked across my skin. He pulled back, and I pouted looking up at him, as he panted. “Wow. I’m so sorry.” I smiled, and whispered, “I’m not.” he grinned, “I just don’t want you thinking I’m here for one thing. As to what I said in my text, I’m very flirtatious.” I grinned, “I need this.” He leaned down, and started to kiss me again. “I’m not going to take you to bed my dear. I will continue kissing you though.” I smiled, “Are you spending the night, or no?” He looked at me, “Although I’d love to, I have plans tomorrow. Maybe Sunday morning, brunch?” I nodded, “Sounds good.” He kissed me again, “Let’s spend the evening, chatting? Sound good. I’d love to get to know more about you.” I nodded, and he pulled me up into his lap, and held me.

“So I’m from London. I was born, and raised there. I decided to attend University here. Well I’ve just stayed, and fell in love with Seattle.” I nodded, “I was born in Ohio, but my sperm donor moved us out here. My mom worked her ass off, then left him. She married  Harry when I was seventeen. Literally the day after her divorce was finalized.” Carlisle stroked my hair, “Any siblings?” I shook my head, “Well step-siblings. I don’t see them. They don’t live around here.” Carlisle nodded, “I’m an only child as well. My mom died shortly after I was born. My father remains in London. I see him a few times a year.” I smiled, “That’s good.” He nodded. “So what else should I know about this famous Seattle radio disc jockey.” I shrugged, “Nothing special to me. I love to read.” Carlisle looked at me, “I noticed you have scars, but I never wanted to upset you by asking.” He gently stroked my wrist. “Charles hurt me when I was in high school. I didn’t know how else to handle things, or cope.” Carlisle turned my arm over, and exposed my wrist. He brought it up to his lips, and placed a gentle kiss upon my scars. I swallowed, and tensed up. His eyes locked with mine, “Know that I will never hurt you, if we pursue this.” I smiled, then looked down, he lifted my chin up, “Talk to me please.” I inhaled deeply, “It may take time. It’s only been two months.” Carlisle placed a finger against my lips, “Relax. I’m very well aware. I’m telling you this, before you start to cry. Do what you feel is right. Don’t do what you think I want. I will be your friend if you need me to. I just want you to be you.” I smiled, and nestled against him.

We sat still for some time, and continued to talk, when I yawned. “You’re tired, and you should get some sleep.” He kissed me again, then carefully set me on my feet. He stood up, and slipped his coat back on. “Well my dear, I need to be on my way. Call me, or text me tomorrow. We’ll figure out a time for Sunday.” I smiled, “Sounds good.” He kissed my forehead, “Get some sleep. We’ll see each other in two days.” I walked him to the door, and watched him get in his car, and leave. I locked the door behind me, and shut off the lights. I was torn as to how I was feeling. I decided a good nights sleep, was what I truly needed now. So I made it up to bed, and slipped out of my jeans, and flannel shirt. I work my tank top, and panties, and pulled back the covers, and climbed in. Tonight was the first night, that I didn’t feel lonely.
