"DEAN!" Castiel Novak screamed as a Vampire plunged its blade through Dean Winchester's stomach and again in his side.
Dean, Sam and Castiel had been hunting a vampire nest for the last week in Vancouver. They had promised not to split up after the last time they did Cas got injured.
After loosing his Grace, Castiel returned to Dean and rekindled their forgotten romance. They had been lovers ever since, despite Castiel becoming a punk and Dean being a grown up nerd.
But now, Castiel could see his whole world being torn apart as blood seeped from the stab wound in his love's middle.
Castiel walked up behind the vampire and beheaded it with a sharp movement of his blade before running to Dean's side.
"Dean!" He whispered, falling to his knees beside Dean's body, tears sliding down his cheeks, smearing his eyeliner.
"Cas, don't cry. It's okay." Dean rasped, his breaths shortening to little gasps.
"Dean, don't you die on me. You can't die. You can't!" He shouted the last part before bursting into sobs as blood soaked his dirt caked leather jacket. Castiel knew Dean didn't mind if he died but he couldn't leave him. Cas would be completely alone.
Dean's eyes fluttered shut as Sam came bursting through the door of the warehouse.
"Dean!" Sam shouted, falling next to Castiel.
"Cas, we have to get him to a hospital. Now." But Castiel didn't respond, he couldn't loose the love of his life. He couldn't.
"Cas!" Sam shook the ex-angel's shoulders but he didn't move.
He was numb.
Sam bent down and scooped up Dean's body and ran to the impala, coming back to drag the still frozen Cas back to the car to go to the hospital.
The whole ride Castiel didn't say a word as Dean twitched in pain in the back seat. Sam got them to the hospital as fast as he could and sprinted inside carrying Dean, leaving Cas in the car by himself.
He bit his lip in worry as Sam disappeared into the building. He tried to calm himself, taking deep breaths before looking in the mirror so he looked okay to go inside.
He let out a bitter laugh at his reflection.
He looked like a panda with his eyeliner smudged around his eyes from the tears. He wiped most of it off and re-did it before flattening his electric blue hair. He fidgeted with his lip ring, trying to will himself to go in the hospital.
He took one final steadying breath before stepping out of the car and walking slowly inside. He had to do this. For Dean.
After what felt like hours of searching the hospital, Cas finally found Sam on the ICU ward. His eyes widened in shock at the sight of Dean. He had many tubes sticking out of his body and he was wired up to several machines.
"Sam?" Castiel said quietly, walking up to the taller man.
Sam jumped and span around.
"Cas? Oh you're okay. I thought you might've left after you didn't come in." His voice sounded oddly thick.
"I just needed to think. Is he okay? What's happening, Sam?" Castiel couldn't keep the worry out of his voice.
"Uh. He's... Uh.. He's in a coma, Cas. They've stopped him bleeding but he's in a coma. And.. They don't know when or if he's gonna wake up."
Castiel didn't know what happened next but suddenly he was laying on a cold floor with Sam calling his name, his voice echoing strangely.
He sat up and broke into loud, piercing sobs as Dean's condition was first to come to Castiel's mind.
"Cas, c'mon. I know it's going to be hard but we have to be there for him until he wakes up." Sam's voice quivered as silent tears slid down his cheeks.
"You don't understand. He can't leave me. He can't. I can't live without him, Sam." Cas said in barely a whisper, he wasn't sure if Sam even heard him.
"He's my brother, Cas. I do understand. I know what it's like to loose someone you love and you never really get over it but you can't let it consume you."
"Sam, Dean is in a coma. Jess died in a fire on the ceiling. This is not the same. This is nothing like Jess' death." He spat bitterly, he knew this would hurt Sam but all he could think about was Dean not waking up.
Castiel stood up abruptly, startling Sam.
"I need to go." He said.
"Cas wait! You can't go!" Sam called after him but he was already out of the room into the corridor.
He didn't know where to go after escaping the hospital so just ran down the street to the closest store.
"Alcohol. I need alcohol." He thought to himself.
After getting a dozen bottles of beer Castiel made his way to the motel they were staying in just minutes away from the store.
He sat down on the sofa, he began hyperventilating as the realisation that Dean might not wake up hit him. Hard.
'I'm alone.' Was the only thing, besides Dean not waking up, running through his head.
He opened one of the beers and held it up, looking up to the ceiling.
"This is for you, My Love." He said before drinking the whole bottle.
6 bottles of beer later the ex-angel was on the verge of unconsciousness.
His last thought before he passed out was of Dean lying in the hospital bed and whispers of 'I'm alone' still hissed at him in his mind.
