6. Adventure Landing

Rian's POV

"So what should we do first" Niall asked looking at the sign with all the stuff to do.

I knew Harry and Ashley wanted to go do mini golf, but that is open until one in the morning. They shut down the go-cart racing in 30 minutes. Plus who knows what the other want to do. I looked around at all the faces contemplating what they want to do and whether or not to voice their opinion.

"Well I want to beat you guys at go-carting" Louis finally interjected.

"Psh it's on Tomlinson" I blurted.

Louis raised one perfect eyebrow at me. "Bring it Rodriguez" Louis bet.

My face was beet red, but I was excited. "I am so down" Liam said.

A few minutes later I was struggling to put on my helmet with out my hair being in my eyes. "Let me help you Love" Liam offered as he took my helmet.

I pushed the hair out of my face and Liam gently placed the helmet over my head. "Thanks Liam" I bubbled.

Being this close to Liam and not being able to hug him and tell him how much he means to me was definitely making my feels ache. I guess that's one problem about loving someone so deeply prior to ever meeting them. I looked over at his hand that I so badly want to hold in mine, but I also didn't want to be another obsessive, insane fan. We waited for the people in front of us to finish their race. I stood next to Liam and tried avoiding my aching feels by focusing on the other boys. Louis was talking a lot of smack about me to Niall. Niall was laughing so hard that I could see his eyes beginning to water. There was something so infectious about Niall's laugh in person; honestly it was the most magical sound I had ever heard. I looked at Ashley who was smiling so big that I could tell by her eyes alone. She was a definite Niall girl and I know she was enjoying this.

"Someone is ecstatic" I laughed.

"Hell yeah" Ashley beamed.

I felt the warmth of Liam's arm glide past my waist as he held onto the railing. My body and posture straightened instantly. I felt that I needed to be as far away from Liam's arm as possible without making it completely obvious. I wanted so badly to lean back and rest on the rail. I also wanted to lay my head on his strong shoulder and smell his delicious cologne. I really need to show some damn restraint.

"Do you like go-carting Liam" I asked, my voice muffled by my helmet.

"Oh yeah I do" Liam admitted. I smiled it one thing that both Liam and I have in common.

"Do you think I stand a chance with Louis" I asked sincerely.

Liam looked down at my a laughed, "Between you and I Louis is a crap driver. He'll probably break his go-cart on the within the first minute".

I sighed in relief and then laughed. “I heard that Liam” Louis yelled at us.

Then the one of the guys working there let us go take our go-carts. I chose the one with my lucky number. Twenty-six. Louis picked the cart next to me and yelled, "Eat my dust Rian".

I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Oh we will see Louis" I taunted. After hearing the rules we were set as soon as we saw the green light.

I took off as soon as I saw the green light. I definitely had faster reflexes than Louis. When my dad used to take me to Adventure Landing he would tell me his secret on how to always win. You have to stay on the inside of the track and take every turn with ease. I was in front by a good distance until I felt someone rear end me. Louis. I pressed down harder on my petal and bolted foreword. It's on.

“Bring it Rian” Louis yelled as he quickly passed me up.

“Eat my dust Tomlinson” I yelled as I clipped the outer corner of his go cart causing him to spin out.

I couldn't control my laughing. I was laughing so hard I was tearing up. Everything was a blur until I hit the side barrier. SHIT! I groaned. I quickly backed up and continued on my way. I thought was golden, especially when I saw the finish line. But last minute Louis comes behind me and coasts by to the finish line.

“You got to be kidding me” I said genuinely upset.

I quickly scrambled from my go-cart trying my best to avoid Louis, but he was waiting at the exit for me.

“So what where you saying about me eating your dust” Louis asked mockingly.

“Oh shut it” I said rolling my eyes.

“Oh you don't want to admit I kicked your a-” Louis teased, until Liam interrupted him.

“Louis William Tomlinson show some manners” Liam defended as he covered Louis's mouth.

I looked at Liam and smiled, “Thank you”. Liam looked at me and smiled back, “Anytime”.

I really loved the fact Liam stuck up for me; no guy has really ever done that for me. It was extremely refreshing. Even if I knew Louis was only joking around with me, but still. It showed what kind of guy Liam is and will be in the future.

I hugged Liam and said again, “No, really thank you. Tonight has definitely been the best day of my life”.

Liam squeezed me back, “It's been mine too so thank you as well”.

What has made this the best of Liam's life? Wouldn't that be when he won his first Brit or when What Makes You Beautiful made it to number one in England. We were all heading back to the center area of Adventure Landing.

“Man I really don't want to play mini golf” I whispered under my breathe.

I really had never been a fan of it. It was action packed enough for me. I thought I was really quiet about it, but Liam had over heard me.

“Me too I kinda want to do laser tag” Liam laughed quietly.

I smiled and tried to suppress my laughter as I nodded, “Same here”.

Then there was a part of me that didn't want to abandon Ashley. “I say we make a break for it” Liam offered.

I smiled at the ground as I whispered, “I don't want to leave Ashley alone”. Liam sighed and put his arm over my shoulder.

Then he yelped in pain. “Ow God I think stepped wrong” Liam said stopping in his tracks.

I looked at him baffled. “Are you okay Liam” I stammered. Liam looked up at me and winked.

“Are you okay Mate” Louis asked.

“No I stepped wrong and now my ankle in pain” Liam complained.

“Alright, but I still want to play mini golf... sorry Liam. I already am in the mind set” Harry admitted.

“No worries mate. You guys go play mini golf I will wait for you guys out here” Liam offered.

“You sure” Niall asked.

“I am positive. Go on have fun” Liam smiled.

Ashley walked over to me and whispered in my ear, “Stay with him Ri. I don't think it would be nice to leave him alone.. speaking that he invited us”.

I looked at her baffled, “Are you sure? I don't want to leave you alone with strangers”.

She laughed and wrapped her arms over my shoulder, “Ri it's the boys from One Direction... I am positive”.

I smiled at her and said, “Okay now you go kick Harry Styles butt”.

She squeezed me tightly and said, “You know it”. I went over to the bench that Liam was sitting at and we watched everyone walk towards the mini-golf courses.

Liam began to laugh, his laugh catching me off guard as well as enchanting me. “What” I asked smiling.

Liam wrapped his arm around me, “I was kidding. My ankle is great; now lets go play some laser tag”.

I looked at Liam and saw a smile from his I had never seen it was so mischievous. “Wow Liam I never knew you were so mischievous” I laughed.

Liam shrugged his shoulder and laughed, “I can be cheeky, but no one thinks I can be so I usually get away with it”. I gave Liam a high five.

We ran to the building and through the arcade to only to find out that Laser Tag had closed for the night.

I looked at Liam disappointed, “I'm sorry Liam”.

Liam looked at me and smiled, “Don't worry Love. We can play games in the arcade”. Liam looking around and spotted a racing game. “

Come on Rian,” Liam said grabbing my hand. We ran over to the token machine and got enough tokens to last us a good amount of time.

Liam and I played enough games until we ran dry. In that process we both won enough tokens to redeem a very cute teddy bear.

“Here you go” the worker said giving it to Liam. “Thanks mate, but it's not for me. -he handed the bear to me- there you go Rian” Liam said smiling at me.

I took the bear and looked at it. It looked exactly like the same bear that my dad had won for my mom. She would keep it in her car and give it to me when I would cry. Unfortunately, Beary Bear was lost in the accident. It was like I was holding my dad close to me once again.

“Thank you Liam” I said smiling big at him. Trying not cry I hug Liam tightly. “Thank you so much” I said again.

Liam held me tightly, “Okay Rian what's wrong”. Liam sounded really concerned.

I smiled up at him and said the honest truth, “I miss my parents and this makes me think of them”.

I saw Liam's face wash over with understanding. “It's okay Rian you will see your parents again soon. Trust me I know how hard it is to be away from your parents” Liam said soothingly.

I really didn't think right now was the time to tell Liam about my parents and there death so I nodded. Liam and I walked over to a water fountian and began to talk.

“So where were you born” Liam asked.

“California. That's where all my family is, but my parents wanted to live in the country. So they moved us to North Carolina when I was 13” I explained.

“Oh I see. Do you miss California” Liam asked.

“Not really. I mean I miss my cousins, but that's it. What about you do miss Wolverhampton or do you enjoy being away from home as much as you say you do.” I asked looking over at Liam.

Liam looked at me and smiled, “I miss everything about Wolverhampton. Even down to the smell of cow poo in the mornings. I miss the simplicity”

“I bet it gets hard” I added.

“It is, but it's everything I ever wanted.”

“Although sometimes what we want and what they are two extremely different things” I sighed.

“Don't get me wrong I love my job, but I just want to enjoy my birthday with my family again. I want to walk down the streets without being mobbed by girls. Some days I wish I was normal again”

“You are normal Liam; you just have an abnormal job”

“Some days I feel that I am a normal guy, but then I don't because I can't go on a date without having camera's involved” Liam sighed

A slight pang of jealously hit through me. I never had been jealous of Liam's long time girlfriend Danielle. Of course I thought she was the luckiest girl in the world, but her and Liam were cute together. But then hearing about Liam going on dates made me envious. “Well look right now you are outside and there are no cameras”

Liam looked around then back at me, “It's nice. I can be myself”

“If it makes you feel better... what you do impacts so many lives. A lot of people are here today because of you and the other boys” I said nudging him trying to lighten the mood.

“That is pretty awesome” Liam said smiling.

“It is. You are the reason some people wake up every morning. Just remember that when you miss home. Yeah it sucks, but you are changing the world in the process”

Liam laughed as he hugged me, “You really know how to make someone feel good about themselves”

I shrugged my shoulders and laugh, “Eh its a talent... maybe I should start charging you money”

“Wow I've known you for a couple of hours and you want to start charging me money to hang out with you. I guess I will go find the boys” Liam said teasing me.

“I was kidding Liam” I smiled, while rolling my eyes.

I was really nice being alone with Liam I really got to know him. I want to imagine that I was getting to know the real Loam Payne, not the Liam that I see in the magazines. I hoped that this was the Liam that his friends and family knew. I also was sharing a lot with Liam. It was fairly easy to open up to him. He told me about his family and about the tour so far, but he was more interested in me. He asked me if I had siblings, how school has been, even down to my favorite color.

“I really love green” I admitted.

“You would love Wolverhampton then. It's very green and gray” Liam offered.

“I've always in general wanted to go to England. My parents honeymooned there and it looked breathtaking in their photos” I added.

Liam stared at me as he mentioned, “You really do love your parents. You talk about them a lot”.

I could feel all my blood boiling to face, crap I have been talking about my parents a lot. I guess they've been on my mind a lot lately. Especially with the 3 year anniversary looming around the corner. I sighed, “Yeah I know”.

Liam chuckled, “Don't worry Rian. I think it is really sweet”.

I grinned so big his voice was so smooth, like ice cream. I looked off in the distance and saw Niall and Ashley laughing with Harry and the rest following behind them. “I wonder who won” Liam wondered out loud. I looked at both Harry and Ashley, both of them smiling and laughing.

“Hmm I can't tell by there emotions, so that tells me Ashley won; because she isn't a good sport. One time I won mini golf and she threw a fit. I should have recorded it because it was hilarious” I giggled shaking my head with the memory running through my brain. She is so funny most of the time. That's why I love her, because she knows how to make me smile.

As soon as the spotted us they began to run towards us. “Rian I won” Ashley boasted.

“She just got lucky” Harry defended himself.

“Mate she murdered you” Niall jabbed.

I couldn't contain my laughter. “Yeah so pay up” Ashley laughed menacingly as she patted Harry's shoulder.

“Don't forget the coffee either Harold” Louis interjected.

Harry looked at Louis so mad like he wanted to tell Louis to shut up. “Fine Ash can you tell me where the nearest Starbucks is” Harry sighed.

“Of course Harry” Ashley grinned back at me.
