Three months had passed since that weekend in which a lot of things had changed. Kate had found new friends who had decent life, completely different from the one Kate used to live. I’m pretty sure that Kate is seeing someone, but I’m not completely sure. We have been closer since then. Sometimes we stayed a whole day in just watching movies and talking.
On the other hand, school was pretty much the same as usual, except Bec and I became way closer, we were inseparables, almost like sisters. It’s kind of weird since we are the complete opposites but then again opposites attract. My groups of friends became my family and I could trust all of them, I never felt alone.
Kayden is keeping his promise of being just friends, but from the way we act around each other it is kind of obvious that we both want more, or at least it’s obvious to me, but with Kayden’s mood swings, you never know. We’ve been trying to forget about our first encounters.
The rest of the group had obviously found out about us but they’re trying to ignore it just like I do. I have been to a few of Bec’s sleepover’s and we are planning out the one we are having tonight, but this time I’m really looking forward to it because the rest of the girls have cheer practice tomorrow morning and that involved me waking up early. I
I was about to get in Jason’s car just like I did every day after school to go to his house, before Kayden called me “Mac, can you come here for a second?” He said, and it wasn’t weird or awkward anymore, we were just friends. I left my thing in Jason’s car and walked over toward Kayden.
“What’s up?” I asked “What are you doing tonight?” He asked kind of nervous. “I’ll be at your house in a sleepover just like every month,” I answered as if it were obvious, which it kind of was. “Well… would you like to go to dinner instead?” He asked and I got kind of nervous since it sounded like he was asking me out on a date “Just you and I?” I asked “Yeah, you and I. As friends” He said, but I knew he didn’t actually mean as friends. I was totally fine with both of us avoiding calling it a date. “Alright, I’ll go” I answered “I’ll pick you up at 8” He smiled and left.
I walked back to Jason’s car not sure how to tell Jason about what had just happened. “Everything alright baby girl?” He asked as I got in the passenger seat. “Kayden invited me to dinner” I managed to tell him.
“Oh, no Mac, please tell me you said no… Forget it, you said yes didn’t you? You’re too sweet to say no, but don’t worry I can talk to him” Jason said quite convinced that I wouldn’t be going “No, its fine, I want to go, we’re just friends” I said trying to calm him down. “Mac, please, I know Kayden since I was in fourth grade” He said
“Jason, I can take care of myself, besides, what if he has changed, give him a break. Wouldn’t you like it if he have you a chance with Bec?” I told him, knowing that it was the one thing that would convince him that it wasn’t such a bad idea. “Shit, Mac, you know that’s what I want most in this world. You win, have fun and promise me that if something goes wrong or you feel uncomfortable you’ll call me, baby girl” Jason finally accepted, I got out of the car since we were already in front of the building and I thanked him.
Now I just had to tell Bec. I got my phone from my backpack and apparently, telling her wasn’t an issue since she already knew.
You and my brother?!? I can’t believe it! Have fun and give us the details on Monday. Love you Girl<3
p.s. We’ll miss you tonight – Bec xx
It had been easier that I thought, even thought we were talking about her brother. I was now standing in front of my closet not knowing what to wear. I didn’t even know where he was going to take me.
“You look like you’re struggling. Need any help?” Kate asked leaning into my door frame, she was starting to show, not much, but she wasn’t stick thin like she used to be. “Yeah, I’m going out with someone tonight and I’m not sure what to wear” I explained
Kate ended up choosing the perfect outfit, not to fancy, but not too casual either. A navy blue skirt that ended about an inch above my knees and a black sweater that wasn’t too loose, but not too tight either along with a nice pair of black flats that I borrowed from Kate since I wasn’t use to wearing them.
“By the way, who are you going out with?” Kate asked “Just a friend” I answer and Kate looks at me with a smile not saying anything else. Since it was still early, I decided to lay down for a while. I was a little nervous, I don’t know why though. I had gone with Jason for dinner plenty of times, maybe it would be the same. Who am I kidding? It’s a date, of course it is, and I’ve never been on a date with anyone.
