You wish the world was free from pain,
free from hurt,
free from blame.
You wish the world was black and white,
where no one would argue,
no one would fight.
You wish this earth was blissfully glad,
and could be grateful for good,
and banish the bad.
You wish we could learn to all get along,
to talk things over problems,
and realize they’re wrong.
You wish people read like open books,
no hidden meanings,
or covert looks.
You wish you knew who you really were,
the reason you’re here,
when life is a blur.
You wish for peace over all the earth,
from the front lines of war,
to family’s hearth.
You wish for structure in shattered lives,
the guidance and assistance,
for which everyone strives.
You wish to make an impact upon this place,
but you don’t know how,
how to help your race.
You wish upon wish upon wish upon wish
But it changes nothing,
not man, beast, or even the fish.
You swim upstream, against the tide,
wondering for how long,
these problems can hide.
Wishing will do you no good at all,
so prepare to act,
and take the fall.
