As I walk out of the house after finishing my breakfast, I listen to Fireproof by One Direction. They are my favorite band, along with 5 Seconds Of Summer of course. I get in the car and wait for Daisy and Elli to come out. While waiting, I close my eyes and lean my head back. I start singing along with the song.
"'Cause nobody knows you baby the way I do. And nobody loves you baby the way-"
"Shut up Blake!!!" I hear Daisy yell over my loud music. I take my earphones out of my ear and look ahead of me. Daisy and Elli are staring at me from the front of the car. Daisy with irritation, Elli with admiration. Elli started to giggle and Daisy rolled her eyes.
"I think she's a great singer." Elli says and Daisy shakes her head.
"I don't care. It's early in the morning, so please, both of you just be quiet." Daisy says and leans her head back on the passenger's seat.
Once we get to the high school, Daisy and I get out of the car and Elli pulls away. See, Elli is in college so she drops us off before going to college. We start walking to the school and a strong arm wraps around my shoulders. I look to my right to see Jake. He smiles at me and Daisy shakes her head.
"Hello beautiful." Jake says as we walk in the front doors of the school.
"See you love birds later." Daisy says and walks away, which puts us in an awkward position. Jake chucks and one of his football friends, Brad, come up to us. Jake and Brad start talking football and, naturally, I get bored. I slip away from them and go to find my homeroom.
I walk into Mr. Brown's room and look at the list on the door. Jake is in my homeroom. I sit down in the back of the room and save a seat for Jake. When Jake walks in the door, he searches the room then spots me. He walks back to me and sits down in the seat I was saving him.
"Why'd you leave?" Jake asks and whips his phone out his pocket.
"Football talk." I say and Jake shakes his head while smirking.
"You just don't get it." Jake says and puts his phone back in his pocket after typing something.
"No I don't." I say and Jake chuckles.
"It's easy. I could show you." Jake says.
"I'd rather you not." I say.
"You're going to fail gym this year if you don't play football." Jake says.
"Then I'll fail." I lie.
"You? You fail? Yeah, right. It's really easy. I can come over tonight and show you. You have a big enough yard for it." Jake says, pleading me.
"Fine. But I hope you know I'm not running." I say and Jake laughs.
"Well then I hope you know you'll fail if you don't run." Jake says and I groan.
As I walk out of the high school with Jake, I remember that Elli is going for a job interview so she can't pick us up.
"Looks like I'll be walking home tonight." I say and Jake looks at me.
"I'll come with you." Jake says and wraps his arm around my shoulder then squeezes me.
"Ah!" I say once I can't breathe. He lets me go and laughs.
