I don’t know who I am or where I came from but I do remember one thing. One face. One memory. One me.
And the me before... me. Said something that I will never forget, “It all just disappears doesn’t it? Everything you are gone in a moment like, breath on a mirror. Any moment now he’s coming”.
But before I could finish the girl standing with me asked “Whose coming?”
And I quickly replied “The Doctor” that was all I needed to say to make her understand what was coming next, but she didn’t want to believe that someone else was coming to take my place and said “You. You are the Doctor” with that pain rushed over me making it harder and harder for me to stand straight and I said “Yeah, and I always will be”, I force myself to stand up straight and to feel proud before the time came for me to leave.
With one slow movement I lifted my right hand to see it started to shine a golden colour, with some colour escaping my hand and disappearing into the air I continued “Times change and so must I...” I look to my right to find a little girl with a red hat, black coat and red hair and I immediately know who she is, I watch her climb the stairs next to me then call out her name “Amelia”.
The girl next to me asked “Whose Amelia?”, my eyes never leaving the girl run around the ship made me smile with happiness that I could see her one last time “The first face this face saw” turning back to the girl with brown eyes my Impossible Girl “We all change, when you think about it were all different, all through our lives and that’s ok that’s good because you’ve got to keep moving along as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day I swear. I will always remember when the doctor was me.” I looked back to the stairs where Amelia had once been playing to now see a beautiful grown up woman with the longest fire red hair I have ever seen and then she whispered to me “Raggedy man” then placed one hand on my cheek and I did the same before she said “Goodnight.”
And with that she was gone. There was only my Impossible Girl and I left, I untie my bow tie that was neatly placed around my neck and slowly strip it from my collar and let it fall to the floor, I take one last look at my Impossible Girl and I can see that tears brim up in her eyes threatening to spill at any moment and as I close them she runs up to me hand help out for me to take it shouting “No! No, no!” I reach out for her my hands burning from the golden fire coming off of them and she whispers “Please don’t change...” with one swift movement I jolt back and become a new me.
I look over at this girl, my mind clouded unaware of who I am and what I am doing here, but this girl looks very familiar so I step closer I couple of times and she steps back, then when our faces come closer together a strike of pain hits my stomach and I yell out “Kidneys!” and move backwards in pain and continue to say “I've got new kidneys! I don’t like the colour...” and with that the girl asks “Of your kidneys?” then the ship we were both on started to act out of control and she asks “What’s happening?” as we are both jolted from side to side unable to stand still properly I have one question running through my mind which I direct at the big brown eyed girl “I just have one question... Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?” and with that the ship jolts us again and everything became a blur.
I woke up on the floor. Everything seemed to be a haze nothing seemed familiar. I sat up from where I was, everything seemed to be exploding around me and the girl was still here frantically running around pressing odd buttons and flipping switches to try and control this machine, she ran over to me I read her lips but I couldn't hear anything everything was silent to me. But then something inside me popped and I ran over to the control panel and calmed this machine down without even realizing I had the knowledge to do that. I looked over at the girl now hearing everything that this machine was making and asked one question. Three words that made her look shocked. Three words that made her sad. Three words that made her remember.
"Who am I?"
