Country: 'MERICA (Kidding, United States)
At what age did you start writing?
Errrr.....16. Yep, I'm a little late on the uptake.
What inspires you to start writing?
To start? You mean now or back then? Ummm, we'll go with now. Pretty much, I get a whole bunch of coffee, push myself to the brink of exhaustion, stay up way past when I should be sleeping and suddenly the words come! probably because I'm being rebellious. Okay, well, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but that's the basic gist.
How do you beat writer’s block?
AEROSMITH. Or go to a rock concert live if it's convenient. Rarely it is, however, so as a compromise, I put on Aerosmith's hardest rock songs and turn them up all the way. I dunno why that works.
Do you consider writing to be a serious career choice?
YES. I have considered going into it actually. I've got about a month to decide, I suppose.
What advice would you give to a first-time writer?
Write whatever comes to mind, even if it's complete crap. All you need as a beginner is experience, so bide your time writing whatever, even if it's fanfictions. Then, slowly introduce more of your own elements - original characters, new settings. Once you feel comfortable with character development and all that, wait for a story idea that really captivates you to spark in your mind and go for it. Don't be afraid.
What’s your advice for the next ambassadors after you?
BE AS AWESOME AS WE WERE. No, but really, just keep movellas working towards the shining goal: to be the most supreme writing site...IN THE WORLD.
What’s your motivation to be ambassador?
I spend so much time on here as it is that movellas is a part of my life. It's time I gave back, isn't it? Plus, I was already doing some ambassadorish stuff (welcoming people, reporting inappropriate stories) I might as well try for the tag under my picture.
what's the most embarrassing moment of your life so far?
*shivers* Motorcycle safety course. Me: a tiny, 5'0 girl with no motorcyle experience (apart from riding on the back, everybody else: giant biker dudes who got their liceces taken away for trying (and failing) to outrun the cops. You can imagine the rest.
What's gotten you into writing?
Errrr.....Whim. One day I was like, hey, that doesn't seem too hard. I picked up Percy jackson and studied the punctuation in dialogue and got to writing.
What's your favorite genre of books and films?
Hmmm... Fantasy/sci-fi , I'd guess. Or comedy. Things that combine both are best. Like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
what's your favorite film?
Gosh, that's a terribly hard choice. I want to say Pearl Harbor, but in all honesty it'd have to be A Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger.
What got you into reading?
Ugh, I can't even remember. Competition, I suppose. My brother started reading at age 4, going into pre-school. I was a year behind him, but naturally I couldn't be outdone. By the time he moved on to chapter books like The Magic Treehouse, I got jealous. I caught up with him and never stopped reading. I was ravenous. The ironic part is that I still read while he doesn't unless he has to. I sure showed him ;)
What age did you start reading?
Favourite Band, singer?
You're killing me here. Queen, definitely, but with Aerosmith as a close second.
Why do you do this?? Uh, I'll have to go with... There's no way. I can't choose. I'll just say "Hammer to Fall" by Queen. That's a lie, though. It's not my favorite because I can't pick a favorite. But it's one of them.
What music inspires you?
Can you give the new movellians or old movellians some advice?
Uh... Keep writing! Original stuff, preferably!
Do you have some advice for people who want to apply as ambassador?
Be active and easy going. Don't start drama, try to mediate. Be friendly.
What's your favourite quote?
YOU ARE KILLING ME. Whatever my quote of the day is on my profile at the moment. (Go look!)
Advice for bullied, who gives up fighting to be happy?
The key is confidence. It's the bully's weakness. If you're confident, if you just let their insults bounce right off of you, they can't hurt you. If you are at peace with the way that you are, if you like yourself, you're invulnerable. Come to terms with yourself and you'll win. They'll lose. My dad had a good saying when I was little, "I'm rubber and you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you." If they call you stupid, maybe they're not happy with their own grades. If they call you ugly, well I bet they're no looker either. Just be strong and confident and remember that NOBODY is worth a rash action like suicide or self harm. By doing that, you're letting them win. Don't let them win.
Best childhood memory?
Hmm.... I don't know. They're all pretty good. Swimming at night in my pool, I think. I don't know why it was such a happy memory, it's just one of those things that gleams with happiness in hindsight :)
