6. Introducing Mirlotta
Name: Miranda. But please, call me Myrah.
At what age did you start writing?
If you count 'novels' scribbled on a4 pieces of paper, 4 or 5. But the first time I started writing half way seriously I was about 8 or 9.
What inspires you to start writing?
Anything, really. A lot of the time someone will say something and I'll be all "Oh, that sounds like it could be in a story!". And then I'll make up a character, and a plot line, and a whole story world all sprung from the line of speech.
How do you beat writer’s block?
Procrastinate. What else? If it was an Olympic sport I'd be winning medals left, right, and centre.
Do you consider writing to be a serious career choice?
What advice would you give to a first-time writer?
Er- I guess I'd tell them just to write. Put the pen to the paper, and write whatever the hell they wanted, and not worry whether it's good or bad - you can always sort that sort of thing later. It's getting thoughts down on paper that's the important part.
What’s your advice for the next ambassadors after you?
Don't be aloof or flaunt your role as ambassador in people's faces. You can still talk to people who aren't ambassadors. Try and be an approachable and friendly addition to the site.
What’s your motivation to be ambassador?
It gives you more opportunities - for example, inout in the site design, and judging some competitions. I also really like giving feedback. I don't know if that's because I'm a judgemental person or something, but I try not to be too harsh or unfair, and more people come to me for CC now I am an ambassador.
What's the most embarrassing moment of your life so far?:
Erm... There's a LOT of embarrassing moments in my life. XD
What's gotten you into writing?
This is kind of awkward and personal, but when I was really little my dad would make up fantasy stories starring me and my sister as main characters. It was like a serial novel, but just for us. I absolutely adored it, and after his first few stories I decided that I wanted to write some too. Since then, I haven't really stopped.
What's your favorite genre of books and films?
YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE! If I had to say though, maybe fantasy, or dystopian. Or Sci Fi. Closely followed by Historical Fiction, Realism, and any kind of Thriller.
What's your favorite film?
V for Vendetta.
What got you into reading?
I'm not sure - I've always liked it.
What age did you start reading?:
3 or 4? I don't know, fairly young.
Favourite Band, singer?
My three main favourites are Two Steps from Hell, Fall Out Boy, and Coldplay.
It changes almost every day. Word Up by Cameo is something I will always know every word to. The same goes for the Devil Went down to Georgia. I love starvation by two steps from hell, as well. Ooh, and Talk by Coldplay is pretty epic. Plus Death Valley by Fall Out Boy.
And anything from Horrible Histories. Horrible Histories makes the best music. XD
What music inspires you?
Instrumental music. Or anything at all by Coldplay.
Can you give the new movellians or old movellians some advice?
Don't give in to the hate accounts! (Certainly never make your own!)
Do you have some advice for people who want to apply as ambassador?
Be online a lot. That's the reason for picking this year's ambassadors, I believe.
What's your favourite quote?
I have too many. '"You fool! No man can kill me!" "I am no man."' is pretty legendary. Also, anything from Sherlock.
Advice for bullied, who gives up fighting to be happy?
Don't listen to bullies, and never be a bully yourself.
Best childhood memory?
I'm still a child! XD But a few weeks ago I met my favourite author, which was absolutely awesome.
