33. Introducing MahoganyPumpkin

Username: MahoganyPumpkin™
Name: Jo
Country: England

At what age did you start writing?
Well, I learnt to write in reception, but I actually started writing writing at about five. Although I hadn't the best attention span...

What inspired you to start writing?
I just really enjoy writing; it's a wonderful hobby and a possible career that makes you think and also lets you go free.

How do you beat writer’s block?
I procrastinate a little bit, but then, usually, doing something ordinary, like showering, or drawing or walking somewhere always gives me an idea.
Although, to be honest, I never really get writers' block, because I never get far enough into a story to need new ideas...

Do you consider writing to be a serious career choice?

What advice would you give to a first-time writer?
Don't worry about finding the most amazing plot in the world: you can develop it all, and often, just writing some stuff down gets the ideas rolling in. Not to mention the obvious - write, write, write!

What’s your advice for the next ambassadors after you?
Always be there. As in, always be on Movellas and always be there for your fellow Movellians, if they need advice or CC.

What’s your motivation to be ambassador?
I love Movellas SO MUCH, and I really wanted to get more involved.

what's the most embarrassing moment of your life so far?
You'd better be sitting comfortably...

What's gotten you into writing?
Books, people, the fact that I think authors are really cool.

What's your favorite genre of books and films?
I honestly don't have one.

what's your favorite film?
Tough one...*strokes beard*...basically every new film I watch becomes my favourite, BUT, I think it's between 127 Hours and The Sound of Music.

What got you into reading?
My parents read to me and then I read by myself. I didn't really get into it; I just sort
What age did you start reading? No clue, sorry.

Favourite Band, singer?
Taylor Swift...(don't judge me!)...but I also really like LOADS of songs and singers...and, as I believe Mirlotta mentioned about ten trillion chapters ago, Horrible Histories. I know, like, all of the words to ALL of the songs.

Favourite song?
It's between Rather Be by Clean Bandit, What Hurts The Most by Rascall Flatts and Crazier by Taylor Swift.

What music inspires you?
Songs that use imagery.

Can you give the new movellians or old movellians some advice?
Don't worry if you can't stay focused: that feed is like a spider's web, sucking you and in and never letting you go...

Do you have some advice for people who want to apply as ambassador?
Be yourself - don't try too hard, but do put effort in.

What's your favourite quote?
Well, for the Grammar Freak inside of me: "Without you, I'll get hung for this!"
"Oh, no, no, no, Mr Berwick.
Hanged, yes!" - Sherlock, BBC

Advice for those being bullied?
I know it's pretty much impossible to take no notice, so just try and look ahead, because things always change. And you just have to make it through.

Best childhood memory?
Hmm, tricky...probably meeting Charlie Higson / Malorie Blackman. Both times were pretty awesome :)
