1. Scarlet (Morgy)
My dearest Ethan,
It's taken me long enough to figure out how to do this. Does it make you feel special to know that you're the source of what little colour I have left? The source that keeps me holding on? It's been years since we've spoken. I don't blame you.. how can I? I'm dead and you're alive. How can we talk?
There's another girl here with me in this strange place inbetween the worlds. It's grey in colour, but with the occasional splash of brightness. There might be a red ribbon lying on the floor of the old room I find myself in or maybe it's a little bit of green that peeks outside my window from time to time where vines creep up the side of the house.
The little girl, she died in a car accident, just like me. Over the three years since we've met, she's seemed to have forgotten her old life and have accepted this as her own. Her name's Ebony and even though I know it's not possible, I swear she's grown up since she first got here.
She's the one who figured out how to do this. There's a fireplace in the corner of our room where we can transport ourselves from. I don't like it much since sitting here and looking through the mirror that shows me you is my only contact with the outside world. What I never knew was that things could be transported too. That's how, back in the world of the living, people get signs from the dead. Maybe the brush of a feather, or the creaking of a door. Ebony, on a mission of hers, decided to throw a hair pin and, peering into the mirror, we saw it hit the floor of her old home. She only remembered it then though.
So I'm sending you this letter. I hope you don't think this is a prank of some sort. Just... please write me back? I know you hate writing, but I need someone.. something to stop this boredom that's driving me more and more mad. When you're finished, set it on fire with my name scrawled on the front. Ebony will rechieve it for me.
I hope you remember. With love, you're old friend,
