"Want anything?" I said while looking through my fridge.
"I'm good thanks." He replied plainly.
I grabbed a glass of orange juice and sat down on the couch next to him.
"Sorry what?" He finally said.
"What the hell's going on with you?"
"Another fight with Haley?"
He just nodded. I rolled my eyes at him when he looked away. I loved the days we hang out but they always seemed to be ruined by her. He's never home because he's at her house, he can never talk on the phone or text because he's out with her. Dylan is my best friend and it's awesome that he has a girlfriend and he's "happy" with her, but couldn't he have chosen someone who's less of bitch?
"What happened this time?" I groaned.
"Well apparently, I'm pressuring her into a physical relationship she's not ready for."
"Well... Are you?"
"For Christ's sake! What do you think?"
"Ok well what happened prior?"
"Well we were getting pretty 'intimate'" I laughed a bit at his choice of words. "And I ran my hand under her shirt a bit and put my hands on her hips, and then she pushed me off of her and yelled at me for "groping" her!" He breathed running a hand through his hair. "Why are you still dating her then?" I asked rather bluntly.
"I'm not! We aren't dating anymore, She said she's been seeing someone else." He yelled rather aggressively. I felt like such an idiot. He put his head in his hands and groaned in frustration.
"That's brutal." I sighed. He glared at me then stood up and flattened his shirt.
"You know what I think I will have that drink." He grabbed a bottle of beer and walked to his room without so much as a glance in my direction. There was a knock on the door 5 minutes after. I opened the door to find none other than the devil himself. Haley.
"Oh hey Olivia. Is Dylan here?" She asked sounding overly polite. I opened the door wider and motioned down the hall with my hand.
"You know where to find him." I said plainly. With that she scurried down the hall and disappeared through Dylan's doorway. I didn't want to be here for whatever was going to happen next so I wrote a note saying I was going for a walk. I grabbed a book and left as quickly as possible. I walked down the street getting farther and farther from our apartment. I walked to the park closest to the apartment and sat on top of a hill. As the sun went down it bathed the rolling hills in beautiful shades of pink orange and sometimes purples. I sighed breathing in the fresh air. My phone vibrated in my pocket and I reached to pick it up.
Dylan: Hey where'd you wander off to?
Me: Where do you think am I Dylan?
Dylan: On the hill at the park?
Dylan: I'll be there in 5 minutes.
I wanted to tell him not to bother coming but he'd probably just get upset. I really didn't want to hear about how he and Haley made up and how over joyed he was about it. I looked behind me and saw his figure approaching. He took a seat beside me and we didn't talk for a while.
"We didn't get back together you know." He said
I nodded slowly not really knowing what to say.
"She came by to drop off my stuff. We've been together 3 years and it's over just like that." He laughed.
"As if if didn't mean shit to her." He ran a hand through his hair. I frowned feeling sorry for him and wrapped my arms around his middle. He draped his arm around my shoulders. We stayed like this for a while until it was getting too dark and we decided to go home. We remained silent until we got in and sat on the couch. He was upset, I could tell. I smiled sadly at him.
"For what it's worth." I started. "I think she just made the biggest mistake of her life." I said then squeezed him a bit. He smiled slightly and rested his head on top of mine.
"I'm not so sure." He said. I frowned again.
"Dylan this isn't your fault." I scolded.
"If it's not my fault then why did she dump me? Why did she cheat?" He said his voice getting progressively louder.
"What is it?!? Am I too clingy, am I the less attractive guy?" He demanded.
"You are not clingy nor unattractive!" I shouted back.
"Dylan it's not worth getting this upset over."
He didn't respond and just looked at me and I looked at him. He leaned in slowly and took my cheeks in his hands. His lips brushed against mine hesitantly. Then he leaned in and sealed the kiss impatiently. I closed my eyes and and gave in to the kiss. He pressed his lips to mine hungrily.
"Rebound?" I asked.
I nodded into the kiss and he moved his hands to my hips. He trailed kisses down my neck and sucked there leaving a blotchy purple mark.
"Aren't we a bit old for this?" I murmured in between kisses.
"You're never to old to rebound." He chuckled. We stopped for a minute both of us breathing heavily, faces just inches away from each other. "Dylan. You know we've never gone as far as you're hoping to go right?" I breathed.
"We don't have to go that far if you don't want to." He replied.
"You must be pretty upset about Haley." I stated. "You've never been one to rebound so quickly." He laughed lightly and ran his hand through his hair. "Sorry about all of this." He blushed. I shrugged it off. "Dylan it's not like I haven't kissed you before." I said simply causing him to blush yet again. I've known Dylan since the fourth grade. It's not like we didn't get a bit adventurous during our early teenage years. "Ya well it's only been friendly, like a kiss on the cheek before... Not crazy horny!" He murmured. I rolled my eyes at him dramatically. "Why don't we do something fun tomorrow? We could go to the new club that opened down the street with Posey and Kayla. Get your mind off of everything." I asked. He nodded. "I'm going to bed" I yawned. I walked over and hugged him around the waist. He hugged back after a moments hesitation.
"You know you're amazing right? She's missing out on the best guy in world." I said honestly. He smiled genuinely.
"Thanks but I'm not so sure." He said sadly. He broke the hug and I frowned slightly.
"Dylan I mean it."
He smiled weakly and kissed me on the forehead.
"Go to sleep." He said. I huffed slightly and trudged off to bed. I didn't hear him go off to bed until much later.
