30. It's Okay

We were sat back at the table against the wall, my body sitting between Harry’s legs dangling off of the edge. I leaned back into his firm chest, grinning as his arms snaked around my waist from behind. Harry’s lips left cheeky kisses down my neck, making me squirm playfully in his grasp.

My head fell back to his shoulder as he hummed against the skin of my neck, clearly enjoying the reaction he was getting from me. His teeth nipped at my skin, thankfully the other side to my bite mark. Harry laughed into my neck as I playfully attempted prising his arms from around me.

But as the moment grew hotter, more intimate by the second, Harry’s hands gently rubbing at the top of my thighs, my squirming soon turned into struggling. Harry instantly sensed my panicking state trapped in his long arms. Heat bubbled up under my skin, a growling noise ringing in my ears. I tried to force it away, hating how it always stops moments like this with Harry. But I couldn’t prevent it. My control was weakening.

Harry quickly pulled back from me, arms freeing me of the confined space I was in. I leaned forward, breathing in and out heavily as my back was being rubbed soothingly by Harry’s soft hand.

“It’s okay, Rosie,” he murmured. “It’s okay.”

I let my eyes fall closed, body leaning further forward as I tried regaining my control again. But even when the tingling had subsided, my body to its original temperature, it was still lingering under my skin, ready to pounce again.

I fell back heavily into Harry in exhaustion and annoyance, fed up of the lack of intimate moments we could have as a couple. I lazily tilted my head up to gaze at Harry, the top of my head pressed into his chest.

“I’m sorry,” I murmured.

A sympathetic smile lit up Harry’s face, long arms enveloping my body again. He pressed a warm kiss to my forehead, my eyes falling closed at the sensation. He let his plump lips linger on my skin, arms squeezing me in comfort.

“It’s not your fault,” he whispered once he’d broken away from my skin. I tilted my head forward again, leaning dependently into my boyfriend. His thighs tightened around me on the outside of my own, arms keeping me safe.

The silence around us was somewhat comforting. I was always quickly forgiven by Harry. I didn’t deserve him, I really didn’t.

“I’ve never seen Joe so happy before,” Harry finally murmured. “You did so well today, Rosie. I’ve never seen him come out of his shell like that before.”

“I felt like I helped him today, you know?” I spoke. “I was like that at his age, too afraid to stand up for myself. I understand what Joe’s going through. I just wish I had had courage like him at his age to do something about my own strength. Maybe if I had done when I was younger, I’d have more control over my abilities now.”

My words lingered in the air around us, the slow rocking motion calming me. I let out a long sigh, chest deflating as I leaned heavier into Harry.

“He’s a strong boy, you know,” I mumbled to Harry. “He’s capable of more things than we think.”

Suddenly the changing room door flew open, crashing into the wall behind it. I was soon told to slide off in order for Harry to keep an eye on the kids before their parents arrived. I stayed where I was, climbing back up onto the table, grinning over at Harry trying to calm the kids once again.

Within minutes parents began to arrive to pick up their boys. Harry looked so friendly with each one, ruffling the hair of their child before shaking hands with each parent. I could see these lessons meant a lot to him. He’d gotten to know each parent and child. He loves this place.

After several minutes only a few parents were still hanging around as the final dad arrived. He shook Harry’s hand with pleasure before his eyes scanned the room, a confused expression on his face. Words were discussed between the two before Harry’s head shot back around to look at me.

“Where’s Joe?”

My eyes quickly scanned the room, realising for the first time he hadn’t left the changing rooms. What was he still doing in there? My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“I don’t know,” I confessed. “I’ll have a look in the changing rooms.”

Harry nodded at me, turning back to who I assumed was Joe’s father as I jogged over to the changing rooms. I poked my head around the door. My heart stopped in my chest at the new sight brought to my attention.

“Think you can show off with your new girly friend?” a large built boy teased, shoving at Joe’s shoulders. I quickly realised they were the same boys sniggering at him earlier. Joe had been cornered at the far end of the room, falling down to the floor with the shove of his shoulders. The two other boys laughed, all three towering over his shaking body. Tears stained Joe’s cheeks, knees embraced to his chest.

“She looks like a freak,” the large boy said again. “Just like you!”

His leg shot back to violently kick his poor victim, but I wouldn’t let it happen. Using my abnormal speed I raced over to them, crouching down behind him to capture the kid’s ankle in my hand. I quickly stood up, dangling the kid by his ankle.

“Oi, get off me!” he yelled, squirming in my grip. The two other kids had backed away, scared glanced shared between them. I growled before lowering him to the ground. He scrambled up to his feet as his other two friends stared at me before running off in fright.

“Your parents are waiting,” I said to the large boy through gritted teeth.

“Look, Joe. It’s your freaky friend,” the boy teased, pushing his hands into my stomach. He looked confused as my strong body refused to react. He shoved at my body again, but got the same result as before.

Suddenly his arm pulled back, fingers curled into a tight fist. His face scrunched up as he attempted a blow to my stomach.

“Rosie!” Joe cried, rocking himself back and forth quicker each time.

I quickly captured the boy’s fist in my own. I watched the smirk fade from the large boy’s lips. I didn’t squeeze or twist, scared that I’d break his hand with one move, but I held it securely so he couldn’t move. The boy squirmed in my hold, ordering for me to free him. But I refused, deciding to frighten him instead.

Just as the kid glanced up at me, I let my rage build up inside of me. His lips parted in shock as fire blazed in my eyes. I hissed out through my gritted teeth, eliciting whimpers from the now cowering boy in my hold.

“You have no idea what I’m capable of doing,” I growled down to him. “Now leave Joe alone and you won’t have to witness it.”

I finally freed his hand, smirking as the boy ran off, glancing back at me before scarpering out of the changing rooms. With my back to Joe, I tried to calm my body again, coaxing the beast back down again. It was nearing the surface now.

Once I believed I was calm enough, I turned back around. My gaze finally fell down to Joe’s shaking body huddled up in fright.  I crouched down in front of him, his body gradually opening from its tight ball.

“B-but how did you do that...” he stuttered. “A-and your eyes, they....”

His voice trailed off as I brought my index finger up to my lips, smirking against it.

“Let’s keep this between ourselves,” I whispered, my right eye dropping in a wink. “Our little secret.” Joe smiled sheepishly as I ruffled his hair.

“Th-thank you, Rosie,” Joe stuttered. “For looking after me.”

“Joe, you’re much stronger than anyone else realises,” I reassured him. “Look what you did earlier? I don’t want you giving up on this now, okay? I want to see you here next lesson. You got that?”

Joe nodded with certainty, a glint of mischief sparkling in his eyes.

“Good man.”

I flashed him another wink before turning around to offer him a piggy back. I soon felt his arms around my neck and his legs wrapped around my waist. His chin rested on my shoulder as I silently took him back out of the changing rooms. I gave his father a reassuring smile in response to his confused expression.

“I caught some boys hassling him,” I spoke. “He’s okay though, aren’t you, Joe?”

Joe’s head lifted from my shoulder, giving me a small nod. I let Joe down from my back soon, his dad pulling Joe towards him, but he quickly ran back up to me again, skinny arms locked around my waist. I stumbled back slightly, but soon regained my balance, rubbing the back of his head.

“Thanks, Rosalie,” he murmured before letting his dad tug him away.

I gave him a warm grin as he was led out of the boxing club. “Remember what I said, Joe,” I called over. “I want you back here next lesson.”

Joe’s head turned for me to receive a cheeky grin before the door closed after both of them. Harry soon turned to me, a warm smile illuminating his face. His hands clasped at my sides, tugging me roughly into him. I grinned as he pinned his forehead to mine, eyes locking with my own.

“You’re so perfect,” he whispered.

My cheeks began to burn red, my bottom lip taken between my teeth. If he’d witnessed what I did to my previous lovers, he would never have said that. I’m far from perfect.

“Let’s go home,” Harry spoke softly, sensing my hesitation towards his compliment.
