The sky is dark, the embers of the fire lights our faces as we flit around the camp. I'm stood with Jasper. I have a piece of chicken and he has some water. I've not eaten in a while so the food tastes amazing. I let the flavour flood my mouth and savour it. Down here, you have to eat every meal like it's your last. Japser jokes and we laugh, it feels good.
Then we make eye contact. His brown eyes meet my own. I throw myself at him, our lips connecting. My arms flung around his neck, his hands around my back. We "aggressively" embrace. Pulling myself away, I smile. He looks kind of bedraggled and stunned... I hope that's a good thing.
Then there is a noise. A small noise, but nonetheless, a noise. I look down at my feet, to find Eilidh sitting. She is pretending to gag at us. The girl beside her sniggers. I decide to keep calm.
"At least I don't have to compete with his cousin for his affection," I speak, loudly and don't look down at her. I can feel Eilidh staring at me. I finally look down and give her a smirk, "problem?"
She looks appalled at what I've said to her.. She deserved it. No comeback, huh?
We stare into each other cold eyes, her on the floor and me in Jaspers arms, who is still pretty dazed.
Eilidh's face becomes red with rage and embarrassment. Before I can blink, she brings a dagger to my leg. I yelp and fall to the mud. I snatch the knife from her hand. That's it. She's going to die. Clutching the knife, I quickly stab her in the arm... Well it's more of a slash.. Jasper dragged me off of the floor too quickly.
I look down and my leg is flowing crimson blood. Eilidh's arm is also pouring out with blood. I try to fight off Jasper who is holding me back. I realise there is now a crowd, watching everything I do. I don't care.. I'm willing to kill her now.
I can't get Jasper off.. My leg is hurting too much.
"Emily!" He shouts, trying to shut me up.
Then I see Jaxen. He is storming towards me.
"What did you do?" He yells. I crinkle my nose and before I can answer... He attacks.
Jaxen shoves me and gets ready to punch me. Jasper falls back unable to stop Jaxen.
I brace myself for the hit when a hand yanks Haxen backwards.
"Let her go!" A voice snarls. It's Amanda. She drops her own cousin and helps me up, "come on," she whispers and helps me to the dropship, parting the crowd who were ready for a fight...
