Louis’ laugh echoed around the room, my eyes tightly closed as he removed himself from the bed from previous experience I knew Louis wasn’t shy when it came to intimate situations, I had a feeling he was fully aware of the effect he had on not only me, but everyone who had seen him without clothes, but as I pondered over the thought, I realised he still had the same captivating influence over me even when he was fully dressed.
“Ellen, I don’t mind.” He told me, I listened blindly to his words, I knew his comment was in reference to me seeing him naked, but I couldn’t open my eyes, I don’t know why, maybe it was because I felt like I should respect his modesty. The sheet was tugged from over me, I assumed Louis had taken it to wrap around his waist, my eyes opened, adjusting to the dim light once again. The lights around the mirror and the moonlight still held a pretty glow; my gaze followed the sounds of Louis as he moved across my floor. My eyes widened slightly as I watched Louis stroll over to the bathroom platform, he was still completely and beautifully naked, his back was kept to me but he turned his head, a wide smile gracing his face as he cheekily winked at me. Brown hair tousled on his head after my fingers had repeatedly run through it, the muscles in his back expanded and contracted as he moved, I watched him place the sheet in the washing basket before opening the shower door and turning the water on, he stepped in after the water heated up, I watched him for a moment though the glass before falling asleep.
I woke to the sound of my laptop, telling me I had an incoming video chat, I looked towards Louis lying beside me, the doona pulled up to his hips. I lift it as I slip my legs over the edge of the bed and stand, Bandit walking into the bedroom part of the apartment and jumping up into my spot, snuggling into Sassy who was lying beside Louis. I made my way up to the kitchen and to my laptop, answering the video chat to Tegan, I flicked the switch on the wall turning the light on over the island bench in the kitchen before taking a seat on the stool, Tegan on my screen, I yawn and wave.
“What’s the time there?” she asked and I looked to the corner of the screen.
“Two.” I say quietly.
“And Louis’ over.” I blush slightly and hope it will go unnoticed by the shitty lighting and nod remembering last night, “Do you want to go back?” I shrug.
“The cat took my spot.” She laughed.
“Watch a movie with me.”
“Okay, start it.” I say and get up going towards the fridge and opening the freeze, grabbing Ben and Jerry’s ‘Chocolate Fudge Brownie’ from it, I grabbed a spoon and my laptop going towards the lounge and sitting down, placing the laptop on the coffee table and grabbing earphones, I cross my legs and Tegan starts the movie.
“Did you see the little boy standing facing the wall?” I hear Ellen’s voice. “No in the laundry, go back and when she pick the basket up you’ll see him.” she pauses, “stop it there.” she says, “See he looks like his part of the clothes wrack but it’s the ghost boy.” I hear her laugh, I swing my legs off the side of the bed and stand up going around it to the entry way of the main room and look at her sitting on the lounge, an ice cream container beside her laptop as she sits with her feet up on the coffee table. It’s as if she’s in her own bubble of light, the only light is from her laptop as I make my way towards her, she squeals as I sit beside her, her breathing heavy and her hand clasping her shirt.
“You scared me.” she gasped, I look at the computer, a poor quality movie which I soon notice Tegan and realise she’s video chatting, I see Tegan is laughing but I can’t hear her as I laugh slightly.
“Sorry.” I say and she rests her head back on the lounge as she tries catching her breath, I take an ear phone from her and place it in mine.
“Hi Louis.” I hear Tegan and greet her back, there watching ‘Insidious’.
“Okay.” Ellen shakes her head collecting herself, “Did I wake you up?” she asked and I shrugged.
“Yes and no.”
“Sorry.” I smile.
“It’s okay.” I tell her and she smiles.
“The movies almost over if you want to watch the end over it.” Tegan informed and Ellen looked at me, I nodded and she played the movie, Ellen and I sat back, her arms wrapped around one of mine and she lied her head on my shoulder, I reach forwards for the ice cream that is slightly melted and eat a spoonful. It’s almost four when Ellen and I go back to bed, her crashing almost instantly and I do the same shortly after, that cats sleeping in between us.
I wake up to a slightly tingling feeling running down my back, I open my eyes, im laying on my stomach my shirt is up slightly, and I see Louis leaning up on his elbow looking at my exposed skin, running is fingers along my blemished skin.
“I think you have a broken rib.” He says and I frown.
“What do you mean.”
“The bruise, Harry had on just like it, he ended up having broken ribs.” His fingers trace the marked skin that has only lost a slight bit of colour since I was first notified about it, “You should get it checked.”
“I’ve had a broken rib before, it didn’t feel like this.”
“And im sure that broken rib was from different circumstances.”
“Yeah.” I nod remembering when I had my ribs broken after getting into a fight at a party, the guy hit Tegan so I hit him, brock his nose and he brock three of my ribs.
“How’d you do it the first time?”
“You mean the first, second and third time?” his eyebrows raised and I started telling him about the first time.
“Ellen, you’re up.” I heard my trainer and made my way towards the ring, I ducked under the ropes and my friend Ash stood in the middle of the ring.
“I’ll go easy.” I tease and he smiles sarcastically at me.
“Alright lets go.” he said and I slipped my mouth guard in, I was the only girl in the class so I was forced the fight to guys, I won most of the time because they ‘went easy one me’ which was bull shirt because by the end of the match they were shockers.
“Shit I wasn’t ready for that.” I laugh as he jabs me in the face, I round kick him and shape up, my back slouched and my arms up as I shield my body and face, he goes for a round kick but I block it with my knee, while his body is still exposed I throw a few straight punches and throw in a front kick, he stubbles back as the kicks force before laughing.
“Ellen your Friends here.” I hear someone call and stupidly turn around, he sidekicks me and the force pushes me into the ropes, before I fall backwards, my eyes tightly closed as I arch my back off the ground clutching my ribs.
“Something’s broken.” I say and Ash is at my side immediately, he removes his gloves before removing mine and rolls me over onto my stomach, it hurt, a lot but I’ve had worse pain, my trainer gets in the ring and notifies me I have a bone sticking out under my skin, he puts a bit of pressure on it and I jump up, despite after the pain and punch him in the face. He apologises, understanding completely why I did it and an ambulance was called, I found out that they were lying about a friend being there, they were trying to distracted me, I found it funny because it proved that they couldn’t win without me being distracted.
“What do you get out of hitting a girl? Does it make you feel tough?” I look up at the male towering over me, “Huh? Can you not beat a guy in a fight so you go after woman.” He slaps my face and I step back slightly shaking my head to collect myself and before I can think my fist makes contact with his face, the ache in my middle finger causing me to think I had broken it, his nose instantly bleeding but I didn’t get a good look and before he somehow got my on the ground, in my drunken state I forgot to protect myself and earned a boot to the ribs, the force causing my too role over, the crowded around us doing nothing as I curl up holing my pained rips and I think he walks away, Tegan is at my side, rolling me on my back, I lie out straight and everyone goes back to the party as I lie in the middle of the floor. I prop myself up on my elbows trying to get a look at myself as Tegan pulls my shirt up till just under my breasts, it’s as if we are both now sober, she runs a single finger over the bump and I realise it is broken.
“Tegan, help me up.” I say and she shakes her head.
“Let me call an ambulance, just stay down.”
“Don’t use one of my own things against me, Tegan, this isn’t soccer, if I stay down my coach isn’t going to come over and help.” I lean on my palms; she hooks her arms under my armpits and pulls me up without folding my middle, I get though the crowd with minimal pain and find my car, Tegan gets in the passenger seat and I start the car and make my way towards the hospital.
I barely remember where I am when I stubble out of the door, a few friends following me into the front yard, I see that there is an old wooden ladder leading up to the roof of the house, it was only for display not for someone to actually climbed on, I took my shoes off because the wood was attaches to the house and I know it was going to be difficult to climb. I step into the soil of the garden and grip the ladder as well as I can before putting my toes on the first step, I was almost to the top and I celebrated to early, turning to look down at my friends cheering along to me with their drinks in their hands, I lost my footing and slipped, I tried grabbing back on but the wood was maybe three centimetres thick and I crashed onto the floor, the alcohol in my system not letting me register the pain and me being the idiot I was tried doing it again and again but never made it as high as the first time. A few from the group left, I went with them, terrorising the neighbourhood for the rest of the night, the next morning when I was woke up in some lady’s backyard she took me to the hospital, she said she was worried, a few days past and I went back to see the lady and thank her for taking me to the hospital.
-End of Flashbacks-
“What did you parents say?”
“Well with the two party ones I never told them the real reason; I don’t even know what I told them anymore. I’ve broken a lot of bones in fights not so much stupid stunts like climbing to a roof, I sometimes wonder what would have happen if I made it, what if I had fallen, I could have ended up with more than a broken rib.” Louis nods.
“Im glad you made the disition to stop drinking because you’re crazy when you do.” I smile amused before I agree with him
