Three days later
I sat in my bed, curled under a blanket as I flipped from channel to channel, my knee was pretty saw thanks to the stinging graze, I settled on a random channel not exactly interested and reached for my bottle as someone knocked on my door.
“Come in.” I called look towards where the door is opening and Louis stepped, “Hey, what are you doing here?” I sat up in my bed wincing when my knee drags under the cover thankfully it went unnoticed by Louis.
“You weren’t in third and last period.” He says as he closes my door and sits at the end of my bed, “Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah fine.” I pause, “You didn’t hear?”
“Hear what?” he asks and I sigh.
“I got suspended; I got into a fight with a girl named Sarah.”
“What happen?” I shrug; I don’t even know exactly what happen.
“I don’t know, there was yelling, I told her to shut up, she slapped me, I bashed her.”
“Did she get suspended?” I nod and peal the blankets off reviling my banged up knee. “What happen?” he asked concerned.
“Wanna see the video?” I paused as I reached to the other side of my bed where my laptop lie open, “I’ve been sent eight maybe.” I shrug and play the video, no matter how many times I watch it I don’t remember a thing that happen, there was screaming when I was straddling her waist and punching her in the face, most of it was by her friends telling me to get off, the video ends when a teacher drags me from her, some of the videos show him getting elbowed in the face by me but that’s another thing I don’t remember.
“Are you saw anywhere else?” I shake my head and touch my check.
“A little here butt.” I shrug, “Im sure she’s gonna be black and blue.” He laughs slightly.
“What did your parents say?”
“They weren’t too happy I got suspended over something I didn’t start but they were happy I defended myself.”
“How long are you suspended for?”
“Ah, till Tuesday.”
“I want fairy floss.” I tell the girls as we walk around the show ground.
“I saw a vender back there.” Tegan points back in the direction we just came before we all go back, I get my large bundle of fluffy sugar on a stick and we make our way towards the rides, I tug my shorts up as I feel them falling, my shirt getting loser and loser as the night goes on but I can never be bothered to tuck it in proply.
Strong arms wrapped around my body tilting me back so my feet were no longer on the ground, my arms trapped before they let me down, I turn to see Louis, he takes a chunk of my fairy floss and sticks it in his mouth.
“Didn’t know you had a side like this in you.” He says with his mouth full.
“Side like what?” he touches the top of my waist band.
“Such a girly side.” My right eye does its small squint as I look at him.
“I am a girl; I do dress like it occasionally.” I look to see Tegan and Claudia watching us, “And by occasionally I mean all the time, it’s not like I wear guy clothes.”
“I didn’t mean it like that, I just never see you reveal so much skin.”
“Coming from the guy who caught me in my bra.” I raise an eye brow and he laughs.
“That like you said I wasn’t supposes to see.” He looks towards the girls then back at me, “I lost my friend, probably off shagging some girl in the bathrooms, can I stay with you?” I shrug.
“I guess, we were just walking around before we pick a ride.”
“Fine by me.” we all start walking again, Louis and I a little bit behind the girls as we share the fairy floss. “Enjoying yours suspension?” Louis asks and I groan.
“It is so boring; I have nothing to do but lounge around and watch TV.”
“That’s paradise, what are you talking about?” I smile, “Well it’s the weekend again so you have your friends then Monday is your last day of suspension.” I nod.
“Thank god for that.”
“El, Lets go on the dodgems.” Tegan says and I nod, I drop the stick from the fairy floss in the bin and we all get our ticket before hopping on the ride.
Two days later
“It feels like I’ve known you for years.” I say during the silence of the phone call.
“I could say the same thing.” I smile at his response, “I just realised I don’t know what your parents do.”
“Well my mums a lawyer and my dad’s a builder of some sort.”
“Your mums a lawyer?” I laugh.
“So if you’re ever in trouble you can just get her to represent you.”
“No you can’t represent family.”
“Oh well if you could it would come in handy.”
“Why do you say that? Do you think im going to break the law?” I ask amused, we’d been talking for almost four hours and there hadn’t been a dull moment yet.
“You could, I mean I don’t know that much about you, you could be a murder.
“Better stop talking to me then, you might be next.”
“I don’t know whether to feel scared.” His laugh rings thought he phone.
“Hey its after two in the morning, you have school.”
“What about it.” I pick at the blanket that covers my legs.
“Go to sleep.” I say softly.
“I will. Soon.” I smile to myself.
“You’re going to be so tired.”
“Well at least I will know it was because of you.”
“Go to sleep.” Im quite now.
“If you hang up I will go to sleep.” I just sit there with the phone to my ear, “I can hear you breathing.” I smile with a light laugh, “Hang up.”
“I don’t want to.”
“And I don’t want to, so I guess we are going to talk until one of us do.”
“Just go to sleep.”
“I will just as soon as you hang up, I already told you.”
“And I already told you I don’t want to hang up.”
“And I told you the same thing.” I smile to myself, it’s almost two thirty and Ellen and I have held a convocation since just after ten forty, the whole time we hadn’t had a silence but now it’s starting as I hear the smile in her voice and her replies get shorter and shorter.
“Then im just going to lie here and not talk anymore.”
“You can do that if you want, I’ll do the same.” I turn on my side letting the phone lay on the pillow while I place my head on top of it, after a moment of not talking and her breathing shallowing I think she’s finally asleep but im wrong. “You still awake?”
“Slightly.” Her response is soft.
“I just wanted to say I had a great time the other night at the show.”
“Me too.” I hear the smile in her tone and were back to silence, when I call her name a moment later I get no reply and smile knowing she’s fallen asleep.
“Goodnight, Ellen.” I say softly before taking my phone from under my head and tapping it, five hours and twenty minutes, the timer reads, I smile before ending the call, I place my phone on the charger and pull the covers up over me further before closing my eyes.
