Song for this Chapter ~ I Knew You Were Trouble, Taylor Swift
I silently swore in my head at I arrived as I arrived at registration, I was in Mr Miller's class according to Emma, taking a deep breath I entered the room. I could hear the teacher's voice when the door started to creak open. There was a sudden silence and all eyes were on me. Oh God, why...
"Sorry I'm late Sir." I said and gave him a apologetic look.
“Miss Evans, doesn’t seem like you to be late on the first day of school. " he said, his eyes narrowing strictly.
"Sorry." I said and walked to my seat, Emma gave me an 'are you kidding me' look. I just shrugged.
Mr Miller was just going though the names for registration when suddenly, the door burst open and there enters the infamous Zach Clayton. He was rich and good looking so it was to be expected when the girls started screaming from somewhere behind me when he walked like a supermodel to the back of the class. Mr Miller just shook his head disapprovingly.
When he was walking to the back, he looked in my direction and smirked. It was the kind of smirk that would make any girl’s heart race, not me though. I just averted my gaze and looked away. His brown coloured hair made his greyish blue eyes stand out, his olive skin made his entire form the epitome of perfection. You can totally make out his muscular chest and his six pack under the tight, black coloured V-neck shirt that looked like it was painted onto his undoubtedly hot body.
Mr. Miller rambled on about notices and announcements from teachers and principle Drifting in a backwards direction…
I shook my head and looked adamantly at the whiteboard at the front of the class. The bell rang all of a sudden, jolting me out of my stupor and I remembered; I haven't taken my schedule yet. Shit shit shit. I dashed out of class and sprinted down the hall and towards the office to get my new year’s schedule. I entered the double glass doors of the building and went to Mrs. Johnson to get my schedule. She smiled at me and typed away at the computer, the printer began to whir and a sheet of paper began slowly making it’s way out of it. Mrs. Johnson took it from the mouth of the printer and handed it to me.
“Thanks," I said and headed towards the door.
Before I could exit, I felt a rush of wind and I knocked into someone's hard chest and fell backwards. Just as my head was about to reach the ground, I was caught and pulled up two strong arms, held tight to that person's chest.
"Careful babe,” the heck? I turned around to face the smirking face of Zach Clayton. I pushed myself away from him and stumbled backwards before steadying myself. I glared at him with my eyes narrowed and lips pursed. "That's not how you treat someone that's just saved your life."
"Jerks like you shouldn't be treated well at all,” I snapped at him and he pretended to wipe away a fake tear. “And saving my life? Pssh, I fell backwards, the worse that could happen would be a bump and a headache.”
“Ouch," he said and I rolled my eyes. I looked at my schedule and sighed. Math is my first subject. I mean seriously, why do I need to start the day with Math. I was concentrating, studying my schedule and I was so focused that didn't notice Zach standing behind me and said, " Ooo, look, we've got the nearly the same schedule, we were meant to be.”
I looked up quickly and met his gaze, so quickly that I felt a crick in my neck and looked at him. He winked at me and started to walk out of the office. Great. I looked at the time and realised I was late for Maths so I ran towards the classroom and sat down in front of one of the tables near the back. I knew Emma was having English now so that really sucks for me.
The door opened and there entered Zach, I rolled my eyes and continued listening to the teacher and scrawling notes in cramped handwriting onto my spiral notebook. Suddenly there was a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to see what was going on and when I did, I noticed Zach sitting right at the desk behind mine, leaning forward so that he could tap my shoulder again. I rolled my eyes and turned away, looking back at the board.
He tapped me again but I bit my tongue and didn’t give him the satisfaction of my reaction. He kept on tapping and tapping until it annoyed me so much I turned around and shouted at him, "Will you stop it! Stop being so goddamn irritating!"
The room was suddenly really quiet and I just realised what I had done. Crap. "Is there a problem Ms Evans?" Ugh, I was suddenly Ms. Evans for the second time in a day, that really is a new record for me. I sighed and gave him an apologetic look.
"Sorry sir. I didn't mean to interrupt you." I said, my eyes averted.
"In my office after school for detention. I'm very disappointed in you Ms. Evans” he said and continued to write on the board. Damn, third time.
"But it's not my fault sir. Zach was annoying me." I complained, admittedly whining slightly.
"Oh is that right,” he looked at Zach, but Zach just shrugged nonchalantly. “Detention for you too Mr Clayton."
He deserved that. Wait a minute. It just occurred to me that the two of us would be in close quarters for who knows how long, that means I'll be spending more time with him. I guessed he must have known the same thing, and that’s probably why he's chuckling under his breath.
"Do you want to be around me that much Ash?" he asked softly and I could feel his hot minty breath against my skin and an unexpected shiver went down my spine. I turned around and stared deep into his grey-blue eyes. Our faces were close, his desk was pretty far behind mine so he must have been leaning pretty far forwards. We were so, so close together, our noses were nearly pressed together.
I wondered what it would be like if I closed the gap and pressed my lips against his…
"You wish." I jerked away and rolled my eyes, I took several deep breaths and turned away.
