It's the second month of school and I still only have two friends, Jack and Amber. I still work at the farm, which I look forward to everyday because I get to see Blake.
"Hey baby." I turned to look over my shoulder to see him. He was sitting on the fence with his legs swung over and his head resting on his arms.
I smiled "Hi there." He jumped down from the fence and came over.
"Hey, do you wanna do something?"wrapping his hands around my waist.
"I have to finish this. Then I have to drive the tractor out in the field and get the last bail of hay. After that-"
"Alright, alright," he cut me off. "I get it. You don't want to hang out with me."
I turned in his arms to face him. "No. I never said WHEN I had to be back from the field."
He smiled and I smiled back. Knowing that we would get to spend sometime together before I had to go home was enough. Enough to keep me going for days. We spend all the time that we can together and he lives almost in his truck coming to and from my house, the farm and where ever he lives.
"So where do you go everyday?"
"What do you mean?" I asked. Jack and I were walking out of the front doors and towards my car.
"I mean after school. You disappear everyday after school and I don't hear from you until the next morning. What do you do?"
"I work." we walked closer to the car and I unlocked it.
"You work?" he asked. I nodded. "That's all?" I nodded again and hopped in my car.
"Well then. Have fun working. And I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye." I waved to him and started my car. Willie was going over to play at his friends house for the weekend and I was more worried about dad burning down the house with his poker night on Friday's than anything else.
I was driving home and stopped at a red light when I saw him. My dad was walking out of the liquor store with a bottle of wine and a woman! So has this been what dad's been up to lately? Seeing someone? And he hasn't told me or Willie?
I flashed back into reality and put my foot on the gas before the people behind me got even more upset. How could dad not tell me? A woman, and she was pretty too. What am I going to say the next time I see him? Will he tell me? Or will I have to ask? Too many questions and not enough time because I was already late for work.
