I woke up the next morning to the sound of my alarm clock telling me it was time to get ready.
I nudged Dylan's arm and said, "Dylan, we need to get ready for school."
He groaned, "I don't wanna get up."
I rolled my eyes, "Who knew one of the smartest people in the school would be such a not morning person? Definitely not me."
It took a lot, and I mean a lot, of convincing to get Dylan out of bed. When he finally got up, I went into my bathroom to get changed. When I cam out, Dylan was ready to leave.
We went downstairs to fin my mom cooking breakfast. She looked over at us and asked, "How did you two sleep?"
I said, "Really well. Is breakfast ready?"
She said, "Yeah, I already have plates for you." Dylan and I walked over and sat down to eat. Like last night, we only exchanged smiles throughout breakfast.
When we were in Dylan's car, we both sang along to the 5 Seconds of Summer album all the way to school.
When we walked into school hand in hand, we walked past Ayisha. She asked in a rude tone, "So what is little miss newcomer up to today?"
I said, "Nothing besides the fact that I am up to hating your guts."
She laughed, "So we wanna put up a fight? Why are you even holding this dork's hand?"
I looked down, "He is not a dork." She simply laughed and pushed me to the ground. I looked up to Dylan punching her.
A group of kids had formed around us. Not much later, the principal, Mr. Walters, had pushed his way through the crowd.
Mr. Walters said, "What is going on here?"
Dylan quickly said, "Ayisha is bullying Laura."
He said, "You three are coming to my office, now."
We all walked inside and to the principal's office.
When we sat down, Mr. Walters asked, "What was going on out there?"
Ayisha said, "Dylan was beating me up because I said one thing to Laura."
The principal looked at me, "Laura, let's hear your story."
I looked up and said, "Well, Dylan and I were walking into school holding hands and then Ayisha walked up to me. She said, 'what is Little Miss Newcomer up to today?' And I said i hated her guts because she has bullied me since I moved here. Then she asked if I wanted to fight. She pushed me to the ground and that is when Dylan started hitting Ayisha. But he was just trying to protect me."
Mr. Walters said, "Uh, Ayisha you have a week of detention, including Saturday. Dylan you have a warning because this is your first offence."
Ayisha said, "That's not fair."
Mr. Walters said, "Ayisha, you have bullied many people before. Dylan has always helped with special needs kids and has never hurt anyone until today."
With that we walked out of his office and into the hall. I waited until Ayisha pushed past the two of us. When she was out of earshot, I said, "Dylan, I think I am gonna stop my blog. I really wanna be clean and stay clean and I don't think writing about my problems really helps. I just think that it would be better for me to just face my problems and I am not doing that. I am just hiding from them and pushing them away as much as possible but in the end that won't save me anymore."
Dylan smiled at me, "Well I am glad you feel that way. I can't wait for the last two weeks of school to be over." I laughed at him saying that.
I asked, "Aren't you the Valedictorian?" He nodded. I said, "Make sure to mention me in your speech."
He laughed, "I will." We walked into Spanish Class and sat in or seats.
At the end of the day when we left, Dylan asked, "Laura, I was wondering if you wanted to go get some pizza and then come to my place and watch a movie and sleep over." I smiled at him and pecked him on the lips. He smiled, "I take that as a yes." I laughed at him as we walked to his car.
