When I got home, my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. I stepped inside to find all the lights off, I started to get worried and then remembered my mom was gone for a few weeks. I flipped on the lights and threw myself into my living room couch.
I reached into my bag and grabbed my phone, and dialed Ethan's number. It rang twice before a deep voice answered.
"Please tell me this is Andie..?" Ethan's voice went through my speaker.
"This is Andie," I grinned, "hey."
"Oh god yes. I was afraid you weren't going to call!"
"I wouldn't just not call. I have to know why you moved, remember?" I laughed. Then it got silent on the other end. I was beginning to get worried until Ethan spoke again.
"Well.. I was living with my mom and her 'boyfriend'. He was a total ass. He put up a loving front with her, and beat me behind closed doors. I wasn't having it, so of course I fought back. I tried telling mom, but she wouldn't listen. All that anger I had from him got pent up. When I went to school, I would get in fights with other students, even teachers.
I was going to drop out, last week of school, but I wouldn't get my credit for a whole semester. So, here I am now. Living in a new town, new house, new school, talking on the phone with a beautiful girl."
I honestly had no reply after hearing all that. It seemed more like a rant then anything else.
"Wow.. That's insane. I'm happy you made the right decision in leaving though. You don't need to be treated that way."
"I know, I know. You wanted to know why I moved so I told you. Let's not linger on that subject though, please?" He said.
"Of course not!"
We talked on the phone for almost five hours.
"Ethan, it's like nine. I need to get a shower and ready for bed.."
"At least we don't have homework right?" Ethan laughed.
"Yeah, the last week of school is usually boring as hell!"
"Okay, I'll let you go though.. Uh.. Have a nice shower?" He sounded so cute. "Actually! How about we have a race? I need to take a shower anyway.. As soon as we get off the phone, we take a shower. First one done calls the other person, if you don't get an answer, you know you've won."
How fucking adorable.
I smiled. "You're on." And with that, I hung up the phone and ran upstairs.
I showered as fast as I could while still getting clean, threw on a towel, and ran downstairs. He doesn't have to know if I'm dressed or not.
I grabbed the phone it hit his name, dialing his number. It rang, and rang, I was about to hang up when the phone finally picked up.
"Since I called first, does that mean I win?" I laughed.
"I think it does..congratulations." Ethan laughed too. "So..just being honest here, I didn't even get dressed. I was hoping it would save me time, but, I guess not."
"Eyy, nothing to worry about there. I didn't either. I'm currently sitting here dripping wet in nothing but a towel." Oh god, that makes me sound so thirsty.
