Never Leave You Chapter 3
This has to be it. I can feel it. I know Brooke and she said she wanted to come here. I remember her saying that she saved her money to go to New York City: the city of skyscrapers. Well. . . I'm almost sure that's what she said. The worse thing that could happen is that she is across the world or is in London.
I took a deep breath as I took a step outside of the plane and into the open air. I looked around me to take in every detail of my surroundings. New York City is one of the most busiest cities. You can see all of the skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Four World Trade Center, and the Trump World Tower. The city lights twinkling brightly over the horizon in the night sky.
Liam appeared from the open door of the plane, smiling. "Ah, the sweet smell of New York City," Liam said, he grabbed ahold of my shoulder and shook it lightly. The other three lads emerged from the open plane. "It is filled with rude people, busy streets, the Statue of Liberty, and famous skyscrapers," Liam said. He pat my back and said, "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go find Brooke!" He walked off of the steps of the plane with his luggage, followed by the other lads.
I looked off towards the busy city, I was already hearing the honking and shouting from a few miles away. I let out a big sigh, then walked off the plane. I gripped onto my backpack straps as I walked over to the lads. They stood talking to a security guard of the airport. "So, you take this cab," the man in the yellow vest spoke as he pointed to the taxi cab by the building of the airport. You can hear the slight New York accent in his raspy voice. "And it should lead you to your hotel," he said. "Thank you sir," Harry said, nodding. The security guard walked away and to the other workers.
"Alright! When we get back to the hotel we will start," I said. They nodded agreeing. "We will go from there," Harry said. "Let's get going," Niall said with excitement. We walked to the Taxi cab that waited for us. Liam placed all of our luggage in the back before we squished in the back. Zayn closed the doors behind all of us as we buckled up.
"Hello, I'm your driver to your destination that you requested earlier this evening. I hope you all will enjoy New York City," the driver said with a pleasant smile before he drove. "Guys, I know she is here. I can feel it. This has to be the place," I said. Excitement washed over me. I couldn't keep still in my seat. "Louis, calm down," Zayn said, he chuckled as he grabbed ahold of my arm.
His facial expression turned serious in a split second. "I know how much you want to find Brooke but she may or may not be here. Do not get your hopes up too high while we are here," he said. I sighed and nodded. "You're right. I shouldn't get my hopes up too high," I said. He sent me an apologetic smile before looking out of the window to look out at the city. "Don't worry mate. We will find her. Let's also take this chance to enjoy it while we are here," Niall said, he gave me a small smile. I sent him a smile and a nod in return.
From across the seat, Harry was staring at me with am unknown expression. I looked at him and once he realized I was looking back, he quickly looked away and down at his phone. He kept a thinking face on the entire drive. I sighed and rested my head against the car seat. I closed my eyes to rest from the jet lag kicking in through my system. "Oh look! Lads, we have finally drove through Times Square. It looks so different when it isn't New Year's Eve or Christmas," Niall said. "You're right. It is much more jollier when the seasons are in," Zayn said. "Just to start up a friendly conversation, what are you fellas doing here?" the driver asked, looking in rear-view mirror before on the road where traffic lies ahead.
"We are looking for someone," Liam answered. "Is it a friend or family member of your's?" the driver asked. "Something like that," Zayn said, he nervously chuckled. I shifted uncomfortable. "My sister. We are looking for her," Harry said and sighed. "Does she live here?" the man asked. "No," I whispered as I dropped my gaze to the floor. "No? Then, why are you looking for her? If you don't mind me asking," the driver said. "She ran away," Harry mumbled. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." He sent us an apologetic smile that was filled with sympathy.
Soon, we pulled up out front of our hotel that we were staying at. "Here we are. I wish you all the best of luck. I hope you find your sister. The drive is on me," the driver said. "Thank you so much. I hope you have a great day," Harry said. Zayn opened his door and we all slid out. Our luggage was already out of the back from the hotel employee, which we were all thankful for.
We took each of our luggage which was nothing massive (a back pack and a small duffle bag). I looked up at the hotel we were staying at. It was called The Plaza. It was an old fashion looking place but inside was very luxurious and expensive. It was across from a park with carriages that hooked to horses which had people in them as they rode in the city. I always wanted to take Brooke on those. I never had the chance to do so.
I sighed and followed after the lads who were already inside. I walked through the double glass doors as the doorman held it open for me. "Thank you," I said. The man nodded with a smile as I walked past him. The lobby was packed and filled with many people walking around or talking amongst themselves. Workers helped carried people's luggage to their room.
I walked to the front desk where the lads were at. "We have a hotel booked under Louis Tomlinson," Liam explained. The front desk employee searched through her computer before her face lit up. "Yes! Here you are. You will be in suite four-hundred-and-one at the very top. Here are your room keys," she said as she handed us two keys. "Thank you," Liam said. "Enjoy your stay," she said.
We walked to the lift with our small luggage. In our luggage we packed very little of clothing because we will be traveling a lot, especially in the air and we would most likely be buying some. I pressed the up button and we waiting patiently. The doors soon opened and we walked in. Zayn pressed the top floor and the doors closed. The lift shifted and began to move. "Let's get settled before we talk," Harry said. "We will search right away." "Okay." We all nodded in agreement. "I hope she is okay," Harry murmured and sighed. "Everything will be okay Harry," I said. He looked up at me then quickly looked away. At that moment, I knew we were back to the silent treatment and the cold shoulder.
I sighed as the lift doors opened. We walked out of the lift and into the hallway filled with the suites. Our feet began to wander down the hallway as we each read the numbers. "Three-hundred-and-ninety-eight, three-hundred-and-ninety-nine, four-hundred. . . Four-hundred-and-one!" Zayn exclaimed. We stopped outside of our grand door.
Zayn placed the key in the door and twisted it. Their was a click sound and before we knew it, the door was being pushed open by Liam. We gasped at the magnificent sight that was in front of us. "Wow," we gasp in awe. It was literally a mansion in a hotel. There was fancy marble stairs, a living room, a kitchen, and bedrooms upstairs. It looked exactly like the hotel room in the movie "Home Alone 2".
"We never been in a room like this," Niall said as he ran into the living room, dropping his luggage. "Please tell me this is all of our's," Zayn pleaded as he was waiting for someone to pop out and say just kidding this isn't your room and to boot us out but no one ever came. He dropped his luggage and joined Niall as they jumped on the couch. Liam grinned and went to join the two. I smiled and looked over at Harry who was sulking and was close to tears.
"I'm going upstairs," he mumbled before walking away. The lads stopped jumping and watched him lug himself upstairs. I sighed as I heard the door slam shut with a loud bang. "I'll go talk to him," I offered. I dropped my luggage and followed Harry who was up the stairs. There was another long hallway that led into the rooms. There were many doors up here. Behind each door was a room with a great size. I chose one hoping he would be in here and he was. He sat in the dark and was softly crying in his arms. I sighed and closed the door.
"I want to be left alone Zayn," he spat. "It's Louis," I said. He didn't reply. I took this as an opportunity to walked towards him. I sat down next to him and rubbed his back. "We need that protective Harry back. We need to see the Harry we have grown to see when Brooke was here," I said. "We need that Harry back when he would get mad when I would be close to Brooke. That Harry who was strong and not weak. The one who chased me around the car when I confessed my love to his sister. Where is that Harry?" He continued to sit in silence. I sighed and shook my head.
"I know how you're feeling Harry. Even though this is entirely my fault," I said as a tear fell from my gray eyes just about thinking of what happened. "Why?" he asked after a minute of silence. I quickly wiped my eyes and looked over at him. "Why what?" I asked, clearly confused. "Why did you cheat on her?" he snapped. I sighed and looked down. More tears threaten to fall.
"I didn't mean to do so. It was a misunderstanding," I said. He laughed humorously as he turned around and snarled at me. "That's the oldest excuse in the book," he spat. "Was Brooke not good enough for you?" Venom dripped off of his voice as he raised his voice at me. Anger boiled inside of me of his pathetic question. "Not good enough for me? She was perfect to me. More than perfect!" I shouted. "Then, why did you cheat if she was so perfect to you? Did you want to be such an arse and be a two timer?" he yelled, "was one not enough?" We stood face to face glaring. "Damn it Harry! I did not cheat on her! You want to know the story?" I yelled. "This ought to be good," he said and rolled his eyes. I ignored his little statement because it angered me more.
"We were celebrating our one month anniversary! We had the best time eating and throwing food at each other. I rented out the restaurant to ourselves while you and the lads were at the laser tag thing. Brooke faked being sick which in reality she wasn't. She forgot she had potato on her cheek so she went to the washroom as a brunette waitress came and made it look like I cheated just when Brooke came out! She made it look like I hurt the love of my life. She fooled me. I'm the one to blame Harry and with you reminding me ever day makes me feel worse!" I yelled in anger. My fist were clenched to my side.
"She told me she hated me! How does that make me feel? Horrible so go ahead! Go ahead and continue to remind me just like ever other damn day," I growled. I glared at him with fire in my eyes. His stood there mouth a gaped in shock. His facial expression relaxed and had turned into sorrow. "Louis I-" "I know. You hate me too. I wouldn't blame you. This is all my fault," I cut him off. I sighed and sat down. I buried my head in my hands as I cried silently. "No, that's not what I was going to say," he sighed and sat down next to me. "I'm so sorry Harry. I'm so sorry I caused this," I cried. "Louis, you didn't cause this. I didn't know. Why would you blame yourself?" he asked.
"Because I was fooled. I should have seen it coming. If I did, then none of this would have happened. Brooke would have still been here. Now, Brooke hates me and you hate me too," I sobbed silently. "No Louis, this isn't your fault. You didn't know and you shouldn't blame yourself. If you would have told me the truth earlier then I wouldn't be as mad as I was. I'm sorry for treating you horrible," he apologized. I wiped my eyes and looked at him. "It's okay. I guess I blamed myself so much I never really thought about telling you the truth of what happened," I said and shrugged. "Louis, if you and Brooke never broken up or the cheating scandal never happened. . . would you have still told me about you two dating?" he asked.
"I knew this question would of come up sooner or later," I sighed. "If you really want the truth then probably not. I was still going to try and get your approval as we secretly dated. Soon, we tell you but it didn't happen exactly the way we planned it," I said, I lightly laughed. "Next time please tell me earlier because I had a lot to take in that day," he said. I smiled at him and said, "I promise." He engulfed me in a hug as I hugged him back. "Now that everything is cleared up! Do we have a plan to start?" he mischievously grinned as we pulled back. A smile formed its way across my lips.
"In matter of fact we do," I said. The door swung open revealing three lads with goofy smiles. "Much better. Finally things aren't so awkward," Niall admit. "So, what's the plan?" Zayn asked. "I'm dying to know the plan," Liam said. "Harry, do you have a plan?" I asked I smiled at him. He smirked back and said, "I think you do Louis." "In deed I do," I said. The three lads walked over to us as we formed a circle. "So. . . we start anywhere that Brooke would go to. Central Park, Empire State Building, statute of liberty, or even the big toy store here. We could always check the subway tunnels and even the hotels. We start there and go from there. The main things here in New York," I explained.
"Sounds like a good plan," Harry said. "We have to promise something. Promise me that we will never give up," I said. We looked at each other with smiles. "I promise," all of us said. We put our hands in the middle and started chanting random things.
We raised our hands in the air and cheered.
"Let the adventure begin."
