Never Leave You Chapter 18
"Did anyone have any luck?" I asked. Four pairs of eyes looked back at me questioningly. "No?" I asked. Harry blinked a few times then shook his head. "No. We didn't get too far in the search but we can still always look," he explained before suggesting an alternative option. "No. We should leave. She isn't here anyways," Zayn said. "What?" I asked and placed my attention onto him. "She isn't here," he repeated himself. "How would you know? We didn't look everywhere in Vegas," I said. "There is still places that need to be searched." "From where we looked, we didn't see her anywhere. She isn't here Louis. I can feel it," Niall joined in.
"Nice for you to join in Niall," I sarcastically said. He shrugged his shoulders. "Louis is right. We can't leave. We didn't search everywhere of Vegas yet," Liam said. "Liam, she isn't here," Zayn argued. "What makes you think that she isn't?" I asked. Zayn looked in my direction and his face instantly dropped once his eyes met with mine. "I don't know," he whispered. "Exactly. That is why we need to continue to search for her here. We will only be here for a few more hours. It will go by quick," I said. "This time someone will go with you Louis. You seemed a little off last night," Harry said.
"I will go with him," Zayn volunteered. I looked over at him and gave him a small nod. "We can go in the pyramid. Harry and Niall will go to the Vegas strip mall. Liam will go look out on the streets of Vegas, like yesterday," I said. "Liam, look on the other side of where you looked yesterday." "Sounds like a plan," the lads chorused together. I nodded and we went our separate ways. I walked in the automatic doors of the pyramid with Zayn trailing behind me. We were on the other side than the side we were on yesterday. The side we were currently looking on had more casinos, night clubs, and shops. The other side was more hotel rooms. More people came over here for the more convivial atmosphere.
The sound of multiple footsteps being stomped were coming from behind me. Zayn ran up besides me with little breath in his lungs. "Louis, do you really think Brooke is here?" He panted and bent over to catch his breath. My feet stopped walking at the sound of the name Brooke. I turned around to face my best mate. "I don't think she is here. I know she is," I said as I remembered the previous events with her last night. I turned around and continued walking the way I was going, but an arm pulled me back.
"What if I told you I knew she isn't here," he said. I was surprised to hear this. "What are you talking about? Do you know where she is at?" I asked as I turned around to face him. I narrowed my eyes at the tan boy who stood in front of me. His eyes widen as he shook his head. "O-of course not," he stuttered. "I-" "That's enough, Zayn. I know what you are thinking," I said. "You do?" he asked, seeming surprise. "Yeah, of course, I do. You don't like Vegas and you want to leave."
I chuckled and gave his back a pat. "Yeah. . ." he trailed off. A nervous laugh escaped his slightly parted lips. "That's exactly what I was thinking of," he said. I wrapped an arm around his shoulder and guffaw at his statement. "Well, you're stuck here for a few more hours. We will be leaving to Hawaii soon," I said as we began walking again. "Hawaii? Why don't we try somewhere else other than the United States?" he suggested. "Of course not. We will be heading to Hawaii then Alaska then Florida. The rest of the places we will think of later on," I said. "I don't think we should go there. I mean there are better places that are filled with more adventure and activities such as France, Italy, Ireland, or you know. . . even Australia," Zayn said. "No!" I exclaimed. "Those are the last places she would go to." I chuckled humorously.
"Well, she did say she wanted to go to one of those places," he said. "What? You're crazy. She never said that. I would have remembered since she tells me everything." I smiled. He shook his head and said, "You're so blind." "How?" I asked. He ignored me and walked ahead of me. I thought for a minute. How was I blind? "How?" I called out after him again. "Never mind," he muttered. "Tell me, Zayn. Am I missing something?" I asked. "Louis, forget it. You will know eventually," he said. I sighed as I gave up. "Okay." I nodded.
"We have been walking around for awhile now. We talked about Brooke but I'm guessing this isn't why you came with me, is it?" I asked. "I can't hang out with my best friend?" He smirked. I smiled as he returned it. "Zayn?" "Louis?" "Can I talk to you about something?" I asked. "Of course mate," he said. "I'm always here." "Last night, when you found me in the room, I wrote a song." "Congratulations mate. That's great," he said. "That's not all," I said. "I wrote it for her."
His smile dropped as he gave me a nod. "After I wrote the song, she appeared again. We were talking. She wanted me to continue to look for her. Then, right before you and the lads walked in, she disappeared. I'm hallucinating horrendously. I want it to stop! But I don't because that's the only time I get to see her. She doesn't want to talk to me or even see me," I confessed. "I've noticed something was off with you when we found you," he said. "All I can tell you now is that we will find her and it will get better. It will be a challenge but you can get through it mate. But you have to promise me that when we do find her that you will not give up on her. You love her and will sacrifice anything for her, so don't ruin it by a stupid choice."
"I will always love her! I can't imagine a world without her. Nothing will ever cause me to give up on her or, in another case, treat her bad. But I can only be strong for so long until I cannot take it anymore. She thinks I don't care about her and she is wrong. I care more than she thinks. She thinks I don't love her anymore. Bloody hell, I am still crazy in love with her! If traveling across the world for her doesn't prove her wrong, then I don't know what will," I said. "If she doesn't see how much you love her then she is crazy because this is true love," he said.
"What do you think will happen once you find her?" he asked. "You know what Zayn? I think about that all the time," I said. "What will I say? What will she say? Will we be together once again? Will Harry allow it this time? Will things ever be the same or will they be different? I ask myself these questions everyday," I said. "The only way to know is when it happens," he said. "Will you be ready when it does?" "We will only know when it happens," I repeated his words. The corners of his lips twitched upward. "Let's hope all goes well," I said.
My phone cut us off before any other words were exchanged. I looked at him, puzzled, as he mirrored my reaction. I pulled out my phone only to see an unknown number was calling. "I've been getting unknown calls," I said. "Answer it," he edged on. "Do you think I should?" I asked. He nodded. I tapped the green button and placed it up to my ear. "Hello?" There was a few background noises until a voice was heard- an unfamiliar, deep, and robotic voice.
"She isn't in Vegas."
