Never Leave You Chapter 16
Harry and I shifted uncomfortably in front of the two whom stood in front of us. "Aren't you the two who took Brooke from us?" David asked after the moment of awkward silence that dwelled upon us. He stood firm and tall with his chest pushed out and shoulders pushed back. "First of all: we did not take Brooke. She came to us for help." I frowned. David stood across from us knowing this irritated me to my breaking point.
He stood there with his arms crossed over his chest and an amused smirk on his face. He had aged from the last time we saw him. The hair on his head had almost all gray and had become shaggy and long. When he wasn't trying to be intimidating he was slouching his shoulders more. He would have a terrible posture. His lips were chapped and cracked from the cold, dry weather.
Julie still looked the same besides her facial features have changed. She had dark bags under her eyes from stress and crinkles by her eyes. She looked tired and worn out. Her hair was still her natural color but had a few grey strands. Her short, petite body frame slouched over like her husband did. They were both looking miserable, almost like us.
"Second of all: in deed we are the ones who took Brooke to help her," I said. "More like stole her from us." Julie shook her head. "We don't have time for this arguing," Harry said. "We have better things to do than this," I said. "Like what? Go out to clubs and drink until you're knocked out or have girls wrapped in your arms?" David asked. "No," I snarled and shook my head in anger. This may be the second time I've ran into them but they get on my nerves more than ever. The two always have something to say to get under your skin and torment you. It never ends no matter how much you want it to.
"We are looking for someone that doesn't concern either of you," Harry said. "It would be best if you stay out of our way," I said. "You two can take a long walk off a short pier so you won't be in our way," said an enraged Harry. Julie's eyes widen at our statement in realization. "You're the two boys that were on the news," she gasp. Harry and I stared back with no words being exchanged. "David, they were on the news in New York City," she squealed our a cry as she tugged on her husband's arm.
"What are you two doing here?" David asked us. "That's none of your business," I said. "In other words. . . you're not telling us you're looking for Brooke," David said. Harry and I kept silent. "You mean you lost a nineteen year old girl, whom has trouble dealing with people, in the giant world all by herself?" Julie gasped. "How could you lose Brooke?!" she screamed. All eyes diverted to us.
David quickly covered Julie's mouth but she pulled away. "Why would you do that?" she yelled as she tried pushing me back but failed miserably. "Julie, calm down," David said. "How could you just go on with your lives knowing Brooke is missing? Stop doing nothing and go look for her!" She yelled. This broke my patience. My blood boiled at her nonsense. "Go on with our lives? We are looking around the world for her and you're telling us we are doing nothing. That's bullshit. I love her to death so quit telling me we aren't doing anything because you do not know what's going on. I shouldn't even be taking advice from someone who kicked her out of her own home and left!" I yelled.
Everyone around us went completely silent. It was like time had stopped and the spotlight was on us. There were a few murmurs here and there, but besides that no one talked. Harry looked back and forth before he grasp my arm and started lightly pulling me away. "Let's go, Louis," he said. I nodded as I looked down and turned away from the two. I followed after Harry but was pulled back gently by a hand grasping my bicep.
I turned my head to see it was David. His eyes scanned my face with a look of distress. "Louis." He sighed before speaking, "When you find Brooke. Don't let her go." I gave him a small nod before walking away with Harry. We walked past the crowd and made our way down to the tram. We walked near a bulletin board with pictures of universal films and the years they came out which led us across a walkway that showed a view of Hollywood. To our left was the Gibson Amphitheater but was tore down to pieces.
We made our way down on the escalators that led to the tram tours. There was a lady at the bottom of the escalators speaking to the guests in a microphone. She was explaining about the tour and was also greeting guests. Next to her was a stand of food that sold churros, cotton candy, soda, popcorn, and ice cream. There was a long line to get snacks and we decided to skip it. We were not hungry enough to eat on the tram.
We walked past her and in the line to board the tram. It had four carts and the front was pulling the other three carts. There was a strip of an ocean blue color with dark navy blue starts scatter across the blue strip and in white was printed Universal Studios. The seats had blue patting and were rows of about seven. Inside, at the top of the tram in a strip, had motion pictures of the different movies they had recently released. They had small tv screens hanging from the ceiling with Universal Studios on the screen.
Harry and I grabbed 3D glasses that were off to the side before boarding the tram. We went to the third cart and sat in the middle row. Harry sat on the edge, then it was me. A few guest sat next to me and talked amongst their group. When everyone was settled, a man appeared on the small tv screens. He wore black glasses and a light blue universal t-shirt. "Hello everyone. Mine name is James and I'll be your tour guide today," he greeted. "As we wait for everyone to climb aboard. Does everyone have a pair of 3D glasses that look like this?" He raised his hand and showed a pair of black 3D glasses. "Good? Don't put them on yet. You will need them later on in the tour," he explained.
"I see everyone is ready to go. Wave bye to everyone," he said as he waved bye to the guest. We took off down the small hill that was ahead of us as we all waved goodbye. We past by all their motion pictures from the very first movie to their recent one. They stood in a post and was the movie poster. "I want you all to meet a good friend of mine," he said as he began to play a clip. I looked up at the screen, waiting for it to began.
A man walked from underneath one of the trams with a wrench in his hand. "My name is Jimmy Fallon and welcome to the Universal Studios backlot," he said. "Your tour guide," he began. "James," the tour guide, James, said. "And your driver," Jimmy paused. "Christine," James said. "Are the best here. Even though," Jimmy paused. "Christine," James said. "Owes me five dollars," Jimmy finished. I laughed a bit. I even saw Harry let out a chuckle. I smiled as the tour guide began to talk about the sound stages and a little bit about the backlot.
I enjoyed every bit of it. It was interesting to learn about the movie making.
"That was very entertaining," Harry said as we tossed our glasses in the recycle bin. "Seeing what it is like filming behind the scenes was interesting," I said. "I was very amazed at the little attractions during the tour like Jaws or King Kong 3D," he said. I laughed remembering Harry jumped at a pop up during Jaws. "The lads would have enjoyed this. . . especially Brooke," I said. "I agree. But that song is stuck in my head." He shook his head. "Have a tramtastic day Harry just like Jimmy said," I teased. He snickered and said, "Don't even start it." I laughed and said, "Let's check out the rest of the park. Maybe we can get a churro or something on the way to the lower lot." We walked up the escalator and slowly made our way up, and then we walked down the walkway and made our way through the crowd of people gathered by the Simpsons ride.
We walked to the section of escalators and stepped on one. The machine slowly made our way down before walking to another one. That took us down and we repeated the process two more times until we reached the lower lot that had The Mummy, Jurassic Park: The Ride, and Transformers. There was Ben and Jerry's, The Mummy's food shack, Panda Express, and Jurassic Cafe for places to eat or snack on.
We walked to the snack shack and waited in line for a churro. I took out my wallet just before it was my turn, and I gave the worker my order and paid him. I gave him a tip as well. I received my churro and after, Harry and I made our way to transformers at the end of the lower lot. We went on that which was extremely fun, then went on Jurassic Park. On the ride we were soaked to where our clothes were drenched and dripping. So, we decided to go on The Mummy to dry up. Harry and I were laughing the whole time enjoying ourselves on the rides.
To be honest, we weren't really looking for Brooke. It was like we forgot about the whole situation and we were enjoying our time while we were here at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Once in awhile we would go back to snack on junk food before we would head back on the rides for the second time, then settling down and decided to go eat at Panda Express for lunch. We ate quickly before heading back on the rides again. Our last ride was Jurassic Park before heading up to the upper lot in our soaked clothes. We headed straight to the Simpsons Ride since it was right there. The ride was a simulator and was very enjoyable. We sat with four other guests. Harry and I had our own row on the ride while the other four sat in the front. After that ride, we decided to go check out the haunted maze at the front before leaving.
It was about a ten minute maze. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would have been, but I still jumped and came close to screaming. During the maz, I couldn't help but imagine coming in here with Brooke. She would hold my hand as she would scream from being scared. Then she would bury her head on my shoulder as I would protectively wrap my arm around her. The two of us would be laughing as one of us were scared. I faintly smiled imagining it before I shook the thought away.
Soon, the end of the day came and we had to exit the amusement park. Harry and I had an enjoyable time here. We both agreed on coming here again but with the rest of the lads and maybe even Brooke (if we find her.) Harry and I walked through the exit and made our way to the Universal globe to wait for a yellow taxi. We walked to it and slid in. We gave him the directions to our hotel and soon we were on our way back.
"No luck," I said as Harry and I approached the lads. "I guess we will leave L.A. then. I took no time in checking out already," Liam said. "She wasn't where I was located at. I searched high and low for her but no trace of her," he continued. Zayn and Niall stood off to the side in silence.
As we all gathered, I've noticed Zayn was acting differently. He was fidgeting and shifting uncomfortably. His brown eyes would daze off and his mind would wonder off in thought. Once in awhile he would glance at Niall, but Niall ignored him and kept his eyes on me. "Zayn, mate, are you okay?" Harry asked. Zayn looked at Harry and sent him a weak smile. "Did you find Brooke?" Liam asked. Zayn and Niall shook their heads.
"I guess we will leave to Las Vegas," I said. "Maybe we will have better luck there than here," Harry said. "Please keep me away from clubs. Last time didn't end too well," I pleaded. "Don't stress too much Louis," Harry said and gave my back a pat as he laughed. I sent him a smile and said, "Great. Let's get going to the airport now." We whistled for a nearby taxi and gathered in. The lads and I squeezed in the back of the small cab. Niall told the driver where to go and soon we were on our way to LAX- shortly to be arriving there in twenty to thirty minutes.
My phone vibrated in my back pocket as I leaned forward to take it out of my pocket. I looked at the screen to see it was an unknown number calling. I declined the call only to see I had two missed call numbers from the same unknown number. I stared at my phone in suspicion and curiosity to know why I was getting unknown phone calls. Could it have been Brooke? Should I have picked up the unknown call?
Some questions may never be answered.
