My eyes flutter open to a white ceiling and light. I squint as my eyes adjust to the lighting in the room. I raise my arm up to my forehead to examine where I am until my eyes adjust.
My clothes are off and I have on a gown. I'm in a bed with shiny, metal bars on each side. My arm hurts when I bend it, probably because there are all of these needles in it. My ankle though, that thing hurts so bad that it makes tears spring to my eyes in a second. The monitor next to me beeps every second. The room falls quiet until that insane-making beeping noise starts again. A doctor ,probably 60, comes in. A nurse follows him with a clipboard. She comes over to all my monitors and writes down junk.
"She awakens." He yells with his arms up. I can't help by smile. The nurse bends down to my ear.
"Excuse his excitement." She whispers.
"Its okay." I whisper back to her and she smiles back at me, her blue eyes glistening.
"My name is Dr. Rosen." I wave my hand up and wave to him.
"How are you feeling."
"Ummm. My arm and ankle hurts like hell and my eyes are adjusting to the light but other than that I'm peachy, thanks for asking." I flash a smile at him.
"Well your eyes will adjust soon and your arm will feel better in a couple of days. As for your ankle... It's sprained. When you fainted, you bent it and landed on it in a way I can't really describe for you. But it'll heal in a week or so."
"So when do I get out of here?"
"Eager, aren't you."
"More of an alone feeling that eager I would say."
"I feel you, when I was at the hospital. I felt the same way." The nurse put her hand on my shoulder."I'm gonna go out these in the computer now, doctor." She walked out of the door.
"She's a nice lady isn't she."
"She is." The doctor claps his hands together.
"Well, I just came to see if you were awake."
"Why wouldn't I be awake?"
"You don't know do you?"
"You were in a coma."
"It wasn't long, just a couple of days. All the stress your dealing with right now put you in a stress-traumatic coma."
"But I'm okay right?"
"Yes. When you leave the hospital, your gonna have to take some pills for your ankle to deal with the pain though."
"That's fine. Just...when am I getting out of here."
"After your dad does some paper work."
"Uh...I don't even want to talk about him."
"Well, why not? He seems like a cool guy."
"Because....he's one of the reasons I'm under stress right now doc."
"You'd rather be seeing another patient than sit and hear my sob sorry."
"I doubt that." He comes over and sits on the end of my bed. He motions me to continue talking and I do.
"Well for starters this whole thing wouldn't of happened if my mother wasn't a drug dealer. But now that she was, she's dead and I have to live with Calum...my......"I sigh." Dad. And to be honest, it's not as bad as I thought it would be." I pour all of my thoughts out to this man who shows me that better side to everything.
"Well, maybe your father does all those thugs he does because he loves and cares about you."
"I did hear him say that to my uncle Luke."
"And did you doubt him."
"Well yeah! I mean he missed 17 years of my life."
"But now he wants to make up for those 17 years." He get up off of the bed and leaves the room. I close my eyes and i just want to cry. I put my arm over my eyes. It isn't fair...this isn't fair. I hear loud footsteps come into my room.
"Hey Jade....you awake?" I hear Noah say. Wait....Noah?! I sit straight up and I look four smiling faces. Noah, Ronnie, Owen and Jayden.
"Oh my gosh guys.....ho....how did you find me?!"
"Your dad." My.....what? No, no way that's possible.
"You must be shitting me."
"No really. He texted all four of us since we were in a group text and the group text name is besties. He said that you were in the hospital and we came as soon as possible."
"Well where is he?"
"He stormed out. He was standing at your doorway, waiting for the doctor to finish talking to you. He turned around and stormed off. We don't know where he went." He must of heard.
"He must of heard what I said about him."
"What did you say."
"I said so many bad things about him. Way to many."
"You didn't like him before though." Noah sighed.
"Yeah....well now I do."
"Not more than me though."
"Actually I do." I folded my arms across my chest. As much as it hurt, I had to show that I was serious.
"Yeah right." I could tell Noah was getting mad and honestly I didn't care anymore.
"I'm gonna take you home." Ronnie took Noah's arms. His face was as red as a tomato. They walked out. Owen went with them to help Ronnie incase Noah went on a rampage.
"Hon. Did you mean what you said?"
"I'm happy that you like him. He's the only family you've got left."
"No, I've got you guys." She smiles and looks down at her feet.
"Here. Your dad told me to give you this." It was my phone. She placed it on the bed.
"Promise to text me."
"Wait where are you going?" I pout at her.
"I'm gonna go help them with Noah. He's probably punching the hell out of someone's car right now."
"I love you to the moon."
"I love you back." She blew me a kiss and I heard her run down the hallway. I heard a pair of lonely, sad footsteps follow their say into my room. It's Calum.
"Is it true?" I sigh.
"Look, I-" He stopped me.
"Is it true?!" He almost yells and it scares me.
"So it's been me. I've been causing the stress. I've been making you mad and upset."
"If you ju-"
"If I just what? Let you explain how awful I am or how I'm making your like a living hell. Well news flash, it isn't all about you. The world does not revolve around you. Did you ever wonder how I felt?! No because apparently, your life is worse." The room goes silent. I never in my wildest dreams thought that he would jump out at me like that. I let out a whimper. He rushes over to me in an instant.
"I'm sorry." He moves my bangs out of my eyes. He kisses my forehead.
"I am too. I didn't mean to lash at you like that. I.....I'm just hurt because I'm causing my baby girl all this stress."
"It's okay." I move over and he lays down next to me. We cuddle together since the blanket and all the other one are so light.
"How's your ankle."
"It hurts really badly when I move it. If I try to again. I think I'll cry."
"How's you head?"
"I have a headache. Probably from all the sh....stuff happening right now. Plus, my arm and ankle are hurting so that's a plus." He chuckles.
"So....I have to ask you something? Don't freak out." We both sit up a little bit.
"What is it?"
"Would you want to go to your mothers burial?"
"It's okay do you don't. I wo-"
