“She is awake.”
Haldir told me, as he left the room. I entered, and found Galadriel sitting on the bedside.
“Do you love her?”
She asked, her great powers allowing her to see into my mind.
“With all my heart.”
I answered, meaning every word. She nodded, and got up.
“Surely Aragorn has already given you a warning.”
She said. I nodded, remembering he said he would have my head, if I did not take good care of Vanya.
“But here is also one of mine, as she is like a granddaughter to me. Harm her in any way, and you will live to regret it for the rest of your immortal life.”
She warned, causing the ground to lightly shake, as a reminder of her great powers. I nodded.
“Then I shall leave you with her.”
Galadriel said, well aware of what was on my mind. I did not move, until she had left. And when the door closed behind her, I walked to the bed.
I carefully whispered. She opened her beautiful eyes, making me happier than ever before. For life had returned in her eyes, and the cold had left her body.
“My beautiful Vanya.”
I whispered, and got down on my knees on the floor. She blushed, because I had said she was beautiful. I had never done that before. Though my words had been kind to her, I had never told her how beautiful she was to me. How much she meant to me. But now she would know, as the words left my mouth.
I told her, and held her hand in mine.
She asked in disbelief. I nodded, and repeated the words. She lifted her head, happy to have finally heard the words.
“Marry me, Vanya.”
I asked her. She said nothing; she could not allow herself to believe this moment was real.
“Marry me, my beautiful Vanya.”
I asked again, holding her hands in mine, telling her this moment was real. She nodded, and I gave her a kiss on the forehead. I was not sure if she was still hurting, so I did nothing, until she reached up and kissed my lips, inviting me into her bed.
