14. The Watcher
I crouched down, behind the overgrown bushes. In the silence, the leaves crunching sounded loud, and I feared that I would be found. I took my binoculars from my bag and put them to my eyes. The ruined house became larger and more vivid. The moonlight reflected off the broken glass that was among the rubble. Nobody knew why the house was half ruined. Nobody knew the reason why Ivy and her mother died. Except for me.
I used my binoculars to check that there was nobody nearby. I put down my binoculars after checking my surroundings and looked for my books that I had hidden in the shrubbery. I breather again once I found the two leather bound books. Flicking a spider off the top book, I flipped it open to the bookmarked page. There was a picture of a golden flower, the petals tipped in a scarlet red. Underneath was the name of the flower and a short description, informing the reader about where its found and the power that the flower held.
"Wildfire. A beautiful, rare specimen which only grows in certain habitats." A familiar voice read aloud. I turned around to see Liam, one of my best friends behind me. "Do you believe it's here?" He asked curiously.
"Of course. And we're going to find it." I said, my voice unusually positive.
