It's Wednesday. I managed to avoid seeing her. It's hard.
"Luke?" I heard her knock on my door.
"Yeah...?" I turned over in my bed onto my side.
I didn't want her to see me.
She opened the door and walked in.
"Please...Don't avoid me anymore. I didn't see you all day yesterday or today. I'm leaving tomorrow..'
I didn't respond.
"You know, this is hard for me too, okay? The main reason I came back was for you! I was worried, because Ashton told me you were acting different. You can't sit here and pretend I don't care or exist...I want to stay, but I don't have a choice. Are you seriously going to sit here and act like I didn't care about you in the first place?"
I still didn't answer.
"I'm so tired of being hurt! Luke, stop! I'm truly sorry...You're sitting here pitying yourself while I'm also in pain..."
"I'm not trying to! I just care about you a lot! And every time I see you cry, I cry. And if I cry, I'm scared you will. And I don't like seeing you cry. I wanted to cry because you couldn't stay...But if you saw, I'd make you feel bad. And whenever I see you, I know I'm a second closer to not seeing you for a while, and that's why I get sad...But I took away your time. I took it for granted and I'm sorry. You shouldn't be sorry."
She looked down, "I want to stay so bad..."
"Me too...But you have to obey him," I sat up and looked at her.
She was sad.
She began to cry. I pulled her into my arms.
"Please don't cry," I kissed her head.
She kept hugging me.
Michael told me yesterday, that when I left the first time, Luke was devastated.
Luke apparently admitted to loving me.
But I told Michael that he tells me that all the time. But it's because he took care of me.
All Michael said was, "Okay. Okay..."
"Luke," I buried my face into his shoulder.
"Yes?" He rested his chin on my head.
"Michael told me something that happened when I boarded the plane the first time I left..."
"Don't worry about it," he said.
I sighed and that was the last thing I remembered.
I woke up still hugging Luke.
"Shoot...I'm going to be late," I huffed.
He rubbed his eyes, "Oh, sorry. Are the others meeting you there?"
"Yes. At 11:00. It's...10:25. Shoot!" I laughed.
We changed and gathered my things together.
"Thank you for everything, Ms. Hemmings! I'll miss you," I hugged her and left with Luke.
We arrived at the airport.
We took our time.
"There they are..." I pointed at the four of them beside my gate.
"Hey," they all said.
"Sorry, we slept in," I stated.
"It's okay," Calum said.
We chatted for an hour.
"Flight 15H now boarding," the intercom said.
I sighed, "No..."
I gave them each hugs and told them 'goodbye' and 'I love you.'
I walked down the tunnel to the plane. I heard a shout.
I turned to see Luke running to me.
They slowly followed behind. Not too close.
"Yes?" I asked.
"About what Michael said. I do love you. A lot. And not just as an over-protective way. I love you."
He grabbed my face and kissed me.
I kissed back at first, but then slowly pulled away.
"I love you a lot too," I smiled a little. "Now I understand your devastation..."
He hugged me once more.
"Bye guys," I waved to them.
They were all mostly in shock of what had just happened.
As they disappeared throughout the airport, I darted out of the tunnel and ran to a bathroom with my only bag.
I called my dad.
"Dad. You told me I could make my own choices. I know you've lost a lot from mom dying, but I'm never leaving you. I just can't leave everything I have here. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to Michigan."
"I understand...I love you. Visit soon?"
"I love you too, and yeah of course..."
I hung up.
I texted Luke.
Luke: Ari? Did you pay for the wifi on the plane?
Ariana: Why would I do that? I never boarded the plane.
I walked out of the bathroom.
Ariana: You dork..I see you at Taco Bell.
Luke turned around. His eyes scanned the area until his eyes met mine.
I smiled and waved.
We both ran into each other's arms.
"I told my dad I wasn't going."
"I'm not going anywhere," I ruffled his hair, still hugging.
