When Fred and George told us about a secret passage to Hogsmeade, they conveniently left out the fact that there was a heavy trap door. Needless to say, I hit my head.
Remind me to yell at them for that later. I wince at the pain but once I recover, I gently lift up the board keeping the passageway sealed.
I'm about to throw it to the side when I hear a voice from in the room. Gently plopping the door back down, I listen carefully to hear when they leave. As a hear the pounding of feet walking up stairs I pull myself out of the tunnel with Harry following behind me. We glide up the creaky staircase and Harry taps my arm and starts pointing. Following his gaze I see Ron and Hermione.
"Do you think Maddi would like these?" Hermione suggests, holding up licorice wands.
"I don't think she likes licorice 'Mione. But d'you reckon I could trick Harry into eating some cockroaches?"
"I reckon you couldn't." Harry smirks, revealing that we've been standing a few feet away.
"Harry!" They both exclaim, although Ron's tone was excited and Hermione's tone was shocked and disapproving. Then they noticed me.
"No you too Maddi, honestly does anybody follow the rules around here?" Hermione groans.
"No?" I supply helpfully. Ron and Harry smile. Hermione doesn't find it amusing.
We enter the 3 Broomsticks to get out of the cold. Ron sees Madam Rosemerta and immediately volunteers, "I'll get the butterbeer."
We find seats while Ron was gone. We were talking when Ron rushed back over with the butterbeers. Our conversation was soon interrupted by Hermione whispering urgently, "Get down. Now."
Harry and I duck under the table, taking our butterbeers with us. Harry seems confused about the whole situation, but I have caught on. I nudge his arm and motion towards the table across from ours- there, sitting down and preparing to order drinks is Professor Mcgonagall, Hagrid, Professor Flitwick, and Cornelius Fudge.
They start talking about my father, but it's all information I have already been told by the Headmaster. I begin to zone out when I hear something that sparks my interest.
"The child, Lynx, isn't to know about her mother of course. It'd upset her terribly. No one heard from her for years, besides perhaps Remus."
"Remus Lupin. I remember him, never as much as a troublemaker as Potter or Black, but I've heard that he did all the planning."
"James was, accordingly, appointed godfather of the child, and Lily godmother."
"Well Black and Potter were the best of friends at Hogwarts. Inseparable. Sirius Black has always been, and always will be, Harry Potter's godfather."
