The shiny golden box had about 2000 dollars inside and a key necklace. All the items were wrapped in a delicate white tissue paper. Thoughts ran races through my head. this would be enough money for two months apartment rent until I could get a job!
I shook my head " I cant accept this father "
"oh, I insist" he said pushing the container into my hands once more. he gave me a look that reminded me of my mom, when she was still okay.
"When do I leave?"
He tossed a set of car keys towards my lap "Now would be good"
We both belly laughed at his comment. When we finally stopped giggling I stood up and entered his embrace.
"thank you so much" I said backing away.
"just promise me one thing?"
"what is it?"
"when you find a good man who takes care of you and your daughter, I want to you to bring him here so I can meet him" he said smirking
"what makes you think I am going to get another boyfriend?" I said sarcastically replied
"oh trust me, you will. And hey! I knew that this box would be useful for someone"
I gave him a glare and picked up Adelynn from the bed " I guess I should get on my way then huh?"
"Don't doubt me Emery"
I was leaving the room and stopped in my path "Wait how do you know what my name is?"
"I know all the people who stay here, it is my building isn't it?"
I rolled my eyes and headed down the hallway and out the glass front doors. I then punched a button on the keychain he had given me and car lights blinded my vision. The vehicle that matched the keys was light blue , 1960's beetle.
I yanked open the drivers door to reveal sparkly white plastic seat covers.
Adelynn gave out a slight giggle. I looked above to the upper window to see Walter waving goodbye.
I smiled from ear to ear , waved back and started the retro automobile.
Adelynn was in her carrier buckled in the back seat. She was fascinated by the stars. With every new star we drove pass her eyes would widen.
Things were finally seeming to go right. My new name was perfect. Adelynn was healthy. I have money for the things I need.
I kept thinking about what Walter said though. I could not even think of getting a new boyfriend right now, but I didn't doubt him. I also wanted to keep my promise to him. Even if it was 4 years later I would never forget what he did for me.
He would later become the God Father of Addie.
