7. Chapter 6

After 5 minutes or so, Morgan soon comes back and looks even more annoyed than when she left. She sighs as she falls on top of her bed and runs her hand through her long luscious brown hair.

"What's wrong?" I ask her

"Stacy is coming here for the weekend." Morgan mutters with annoyance clear in her voice.

I know you're probably wondering who Stacy is and why Morgan is so annoyed that she's coming. Well to cut it short, Stacy is Morgan’s mothers sister; a.k.a Morgan’s Aunt.

And the reason why Morgan is so annoyed that her aunt is coming for the weekend is because Stacy doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. She always has something to say about everything and doesn't realize that some of the things she says offend others.

"Oh." is all I say not really knowing how to respond since I can’t do anything about it.

"Yeah." Morgan responds.

The awkward atmosphere has once return leaving Morgan and I speechless on not knowing what to say next. Should I bring up the topic Morgan and I just were discussing before Morgan’s brother interrupted us? Or should I wait a while and make Morgan bring it up on her own time?

A sudden idea soon fills me. What if I make Morgan stay over at my place for the weekend? That way she can be away from her aunt and it just might give her enough time to tell me what she wanted to tell me before we got interrupted!

A huge smile began to spread onto my face. In the corner of my eye I could see Morgan eyeing me in confusion and worry.

"What are you so smiley about?" Morgan questioned as she propped herself up on her elbows.

I thought about it for a moment, should really I invite her to a sleepover for the weekend at my house right now? We still aren’t on the best of terms at the moment; it might just be awkward the whole time she’s over.

I push away those thoughts and ignore them. Maybe this weekend while she’s over things can get back to normal. I mean, it won’t hurt to try. "Do you wanna stay at my place for the weekend? T-that why you don't have to worry about your Aunt Stacy being here and all."

Morgan looked at me for a few seconds her face was like a blank as a canvas that hasn’t been marked on yet. She bit her lip, "Are you sure you want me to come over?"

Not really. "Yeah, I mean like why not? You stayed over for the weekend at my place plenty of times before." I shrugged

Morgan began to sit up right, "Yeah but we're not exactly on the best of terms right now. I-I mean things still kinda awkward between you and me..."

I thought the same thing M. "Well hopefully we can fix that by the end of the weekend!" I grinned

Morgan chuckled as she got up from her bed. "Well, why not? I’ll tell my mom I'm staying over at your place for the weekend, I'll be right back."

Morgan walked out of the room and headed down the stairs. After a minute or two Morgan came back up the stairs and went inside her closet.

I got up from her bed and went inside too. Just like me, Morgan also has a walk in closet. Hers   was a bit bigger than mine though. Her closet could fit at least 7 or 8 people while mine could fit about 5 at most.

Morgan was digging through a pile of old clothing and bags. She soon found an old worn out bookbag of hers. She unzipped one of the bigger pockets and handed it to me.

"Here, hold this while I stuff my clothes in it." Morgan instructed.

I did as I was told and held open the bookbag. Once Morgan finished stuffing her bookbag with her clothes we then went to the bathroom to stuff the bag with her toiletries. Soon we finished and we headed down the stairs. Once we hit the last step the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!!" yelled Matt as he raced towards the door. Morgan rolled her eyes at her young brother. He always loved answering the door for some odd reason, maybe just because he’s nosey.

"Aunt Stacy! How are you?" said Matt as he opened the door.

"Oh lord." I heard Morgan mutter under her breath. I chuckled as Stacy hugged Matt.

"How are you darling?" she asked Matt, "Wait, before you answer that be a dear and go take my bags from out the car and place them in the room I'm staying in."

Matt nodded his head as he went out the door to go grab Stacy’s bags. Stacy then looked around the house with a small frown upon her face. Probably judging like how she always does. Her eyes then landed on Morgan and me. She gave a small smiled as headed her way towards us.

"Brace for impact." Morgan cautioned as Stacy made her way toward us. I giggled in response earning an eyebrow rise from Stacy.

"What’s so funny Iris?" Stacy questioned as she tilted her head to the side a little.

"Oh, nothing..." I lied as I plastered a small fake smile plastered upon my face.

Stacy huffed "Well it must have obviously been something if it caused you to laugh! People just don’t laugh at nothing."

I pursed my lips together trying to hold back my response. Stupid old witch...

"Well anyway," Morgan began trying to get the conversation off the recent topic. "Sadly I have to go now.”

"What? Why?" Stacy questioned as she furrowed her eyebrows together.

"I'm spending the weekend with Iris." Morgan simply stated with a hit of gladness in her voice which almost made me laugh. Heck, I would be happy too if Stacy was my aunt and I could get a free weekend away from her while she’s visiting!

"Oh, well that’s so sad."

"Yeah, well I hope you enjoy your visit Aunt Stacy. See you next time you visit!" Morgan faked smiled as she grabbed my hand and quickly walked pasted her and out the door.

Once we were outside Morgan still held on to my hand. Not knowing how to say anything I just went along with it. We were at the foot of Morgan’s driveway when we saw Matt taking out the last of Stacy's suitcases out of her trunk. Stacy had 2 forest green suitcases and matching duffle bag. I don’t know why she carried that much if she was only going to stay here for 3 days.

"Hey, where are you going?" Matt asked Morgan as he picked up Stacy’s suitcases.

"I'm going over to Iris's house for the weekend." Morgan bloated as she stuck out her tongue at Matt.

"Lucky." Matt muttered. Matt's eyes began wonder down to Morgan and I hands, he raised one of his eyes brows. "Why are y'all holding hands?"

Morgan looked down at our hands to see hers and I intertwined with one other. Morgan eyes widened as she unhooked her hand from mine and stuffed it into her jean pocket and looked away. I could see Morgan face flushing bright pink.

"Sh-shut up and just go put away Aunt Stacy’s suitcases." Morgan stuttered her face still looking bright pink.

Matt rolled his eyes and walked up the drive away. Morgan sighed and we started heading to my house.

The head home from Morgan’s place it was filled in complete silence. Not an awkward one, but not exactly a comfortable one either.

Few minutes later we reach my house. We treaded up the steps and I opened the front door with my house key. Once inside I plopped onto the couch and lay down. Morgan laughed at my action.

“I’m gonna go put this in your room.” Morgan told me, I nodded and she went up the stairs.

I still wonder on what she was about to tell me. What could be so bad that she thought that I wouldn’t be best friends with her anymore?

I sighed as I sat up right. I took out my phone to see if I had any miss calls or un-read texts. I had my phone on silent since school started so I don’t if anyone has been trying to contact me.

I pressed the power button and my phone screen lit up. I had 2 new texts, one from Cayden and another from my mom. I unlocked my phone so that I could respond to them. I decided to read my mother’s text first.

On my way home, I may be a bit late. I’ll be home in about 45 minutes!

I looked at the time on my phone. It was 5:27 Morgan and I will be alone for another 20 minutes or so. I decided not to respond to my mother’s text since she was on the road driving now.

I then went to read the next unread message I got from my wonderful boyfriend Cayden.

Sent at 5:15

Hey babe, i just wanted to say sorry again for being jealous earlier… also do u wanna come over on Saturday?

I smiled at the text. Aw how sweet of him to apologize again! Right when I was about to respond back Morgan jumped on top of the couch making the couch move a bit and making my phone slip out of my grip.

“Morgan!” I laughed; I know she didn’t mean it

“Oops! Sorry!” Morgan chuckled as she plopped off the couch to get my phone for me. She grabbed my phone and handed it back to me with a playful grin. I rolled my eyes jokingly

“Thanks loser.”

“You’re welcome idiot.”

I stuck my tongue out to her playfully and went back to texting Cayden.

“It’s okay Cayden haha, you already apologize earlier :)! N sorry I cant… Morgan's staying over my house for the weekend and I just leave her to go to urs >.<

I pressed sent and a minute later Cayden responded back.

“U and morg are on speaking terms now?” Cayden asked

“Yup! :)”

“That’s great! N maybe I could come over instead on sat? Only for an hour or so, I just wanna see u.”

“Who ya talking to?”

I jump and my phone falls out of my hand again but this time lands on the couch cushion. Morgan laughs as I place my hand on my racing heart. “You scared me!”

Morgan keeps laughing and I stick my tongue out at her. After a few seconds Morgan calms down and stops laughing. “That was hilarious. You get scared so easily I didn’t even do anything!”

“No it wasn't.” I pout “And whatever.”

Morgan smiles widely “You look adorable when you pout.”

My face heats up and turns a bright pink. Morgan then realizes what she says and widens her eyes. “I-I mean-”

I start laughing this time. Morgan then pouts too and I aww. “You look adorable when you pout too M.” I say in admiration

Morgan face also blushes and she turns to look away. I laugh as I look back at my texts with Cayden. Should I accept his offer of him coming over on Saturday? I wanted to spend some “bonding” time with Morgan this weekend and figure out what was going on… But he would only be come over for an hour though. Not like he’s coming over for the whole day.

I decide against it and text him back saying that I can’t. He reads the text message but doesn’t respond. I hope he’s not mad because I turned him down. I turn off my phone and put it back in my pocket. I spent enough time on my phone for now.

I look over at Morgan and see that she was lying down on the floor on her stomach. The TV was on and was showing some old episode of sponge bob. I chuckled and soon join her down on the floor.

I lied down next to her and place my head on her shoulder. Morgan notices me and blushes then turns her attention back to the TV. She has been blushing a lot lately, she usually not the type to blush a lot.

I shrug it off and continue to watch TV. Not like it matters really, she looks quite cute when she blushes. Well, she looks cute all the time really.

I froze; did I just call my best friend cute? I furrow my eyebrows together, it’s nothing. People call their best friends cute all the time, right?

Morgan notices my sudden change; she looks at me and raises an eyebrow. “You okay?”

No I’m confused as heck right now. “Yeah I’m fine.” I tell her as I place on a small fake smile.

Morgan stares at me for a few more seconds before turning back at the TV. I could she doesn’t believe me but I’m glad that she decides not to push it.
