Thunder crashed across the sky and the pain of the rain drops was getting worse. Lighting struck in the distance and thunder crashed again.
Why can't I be dead?
I hear people yelling "Where would she be?" Maybe they lost their dog or something. No one would look for a useless vampire. "Maybe back at the house?" Some woman said. She sounded like Alice. "Why would she go back?" Taylor said. It was them. But who was the third voice? Alice, Taylor, and another dark figure walked by. The figure looked into the alley. It paused. He paused. I didn't bother to look. I was so weak and tired, and my spirits have been crushed. I felt it was a waste to even think it was him.
But, it was... Chase.
He walked up to me. "Are you okay?" He asked. I opened my eyes and glared at him. How was the rain not hurting him? It's an immense pain for me, right now. He helped me up. I fell back down and he picked me up. They all knew I was in pain. That's all I could feel now. I was starving, I was tired, and I was just weak. The rain started to fall on my face and the pain got worse. My head started spinning and wherever Chase would carry me, I'd see things that weren't real. Things from my past, things from the deepest part of my mind. My parents, a dog, Caleb, snakes. Anything. I began to cry. I wanted to see my parents. I want to see Chase's face, but I can't even turn my head.
We finally got home and I tried to keep my eyes open. Chase set me down on the couch. He sat by me and sang to me like he always did when I was scared, or hurt. Alice was making lunch, I could smell it. I might be a vampire, but I still eat normal food. Taylor brought me a towel. I was still soaking wet from the rain. The full shock of Chase being alive still hasn't struck me. I finally get to eat, when Alice brings me a sandwich. It's hard to move my arms to reach it, but I finally can. After I finish it, I feel slightly stronger. I curl up and lay my head on Chase's shoulder. "I love you." Is all I hear before I finally fall asleep.
I love you, too, Chase.
