Good Girl

They aren't the popular boys of the school that everyone is fascinated with. They aren't the star football players or the highest placing students. They're a band who is trying to prove to themselves and their parents that they should be allowed to leave school to pursue their dreams. I, however, am not like them. I am a high honor roll student, who only focuses on school work and my job. I don't have time for these boys, I'm a good girl. Though, as they might say, "Good girls are bad girls that haven't been caught.".

"Lily," Luke calls, dragging out my name. "Truth." Pause. "Or dare?"

I roll my eyes, "This game is so dumb and why do you all keep coming back to me?" No one answers, and everyone just laughs. But it's true, Ashton went to me, then I went to Calum, who came back to me, and then I went to Luke, who is now coming back to me. "Fine," I sigh. "Truth."

"Do you love Ashton?" he asks, referring to the curly-headed boy who, might I add, gets closer to me with each drink he finishes, and he just opened his fifth beer, though, I haven't seen him take a drink out of it yet. I look at Ashton, whose face looks like a sad, little puppy for a moment, before he buries it back into my sleeve.

I chuckle slightly before answering. "No, Luke, I don't love Ashton," I say, dragging out the word love in the same manner that Luke had.

Everyone awes except for Kara, who is just smiling at Calum, who seems to mind her less when he is drunk, ensuring another eye roll from me. "Why not?" Calum asks. "He thinks you're super cute."

"He never shuts up about you," Mikey adds. "He wants to take you on a date."

I feel bad. Because, if Ashton were not so drunk, he would probably be really embarrassed by all of this. I've seen him blush on so many occasions that I can hardly imagine how badly the other boys tease him when I'm not around. "I hardly know Ashton. I can't love him," I explain to the group, who all currently have the mental capacity of four year old's.

"Will you do it?" Ashton shoots up suddenly, startling me slightly. "Will you go on a date with me?"

"Er, yeah, I guess, sure." I say, unwilling to hurt a drunk Ashton's feelings. To be fair, he'll probably forget all about it in the morning.

He sinks his face back into my side, content once again.

I look around the room at my drunk friends who seem to have forgotten that we were even playing truth or dare, because after nearly ten minutes has passed, no one complains that I haven't chosen anyone to be next in the game. I listen in on the drunk conversation of Luke and Mikey while absentmindedly playing with Ashton's curls.

"I'm telling you, man," Luke slurrs to Mikey, "We're going to be big someday. We just feel so complete with Ashton."

Mikey begins to agree but is cut off by Calum very quietly saying, "Guys, guys." We all looks toward him, wondering what it is that he's going on about, but his eyes are widely staring at his phone. "Guys," he says once again.

I shake Ashton to wake up, as he's slightly dozed off at this point. "Whaddizit," he mumbles but looks at Calum as well.

"What is it, bud?" Luke asks, moving over to Calum and taking his phone, his eyes growing wide as well. "Oh, my god."

"What?" Mikey and I ask at the same time.

Luke and Calum look over with the widest smiles that I've ever seen any of them wear and Luke says, "Louis Tomlinson tweeted about us."

I am bumped to the side as Ashton stands straight up, freaking out. Mikey, too. It takes Kara a minute longer, because she's probably the most intoxicated one here, but she begins to squeal as well. I, however, sit in the same spot, unmoved and unknowing. Louis Tomlinson? I question inwardly. Undoubtedly, the name sounds familiar, as though I've heard it before, but I have no idea who he is. So I ask, "Who is Louis Tomlinson?"

At this, everyone turns to me. "Oh, c'mon. You're a teenage girl, there's no way that you don't know who Louis Tomlinson is," Ashton says. "We all know who he is, and none of us listen to One Direction much," he smirks. "Well, except Calum, who is following all of them on Twitter."

Oh, One Direction! I don't listen to them either, but I do know that they're the biggest boyband in the world. Knowing this I remember that Kara has tickets to go to their concert here in Sydney next summer, and that I promised I would go with her. She's undoubtedly where I've heard his name before. "Wait, he tweeted about you guys?"

Calum tosses his phone across the small space that separates us, and surely enough, I look at it to see, @Louis_Tomlinson: Been a fan of this band for a while now, everyone get behind them with a link to their latest YouTube post, their newest song Gotta Get Out. "That's incredible," I say, tossing the phone back at Calum.

"Oh my god, he said he's a fan! That's crazy... Should I, like, tweet at him?" Calum asks, as though he were contemplating doing something severely irrational.

"Of course!" Luke hollers, causing me to jump slightly, and disturbing Kara's newfound rest, which until now, no one had even noticed she'd fallen into.

Calum has noticeably moved away from her since so dramatically sobering up. I honestly feel for her, though. She likes him so much that it almost seems like Calum is acting mean toward her. But, she gets so nervous and acts so strangely around Calum, that no one can really blame him for not seeing her as a lovable girl. I definitely need to talk to her about loosening up around him, and teach her to act like the adorable girl that I know her to be most of the time.

"Well," Mikey say, "You know what this means, boys."

He is met with devious grins from the boys and a blank stare from me. "What does this mean?" I ask, laughing at how little I know.

"Oh, dear, Liliana," Luke says, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as he always does when he's making fun of me. "We celebrate."

With that, Calum turns on some music and grabs another beer. And I thought the night was over.
