It took me about an hour and a half to get ready for dinner. I had taken a shower, curled my hair and put make up on before slipping on my dress. I felt really good about myself for once as I smiled at the girl in the mirror. I walked over to the shoe box on my bed and pulled them out. I grabbed my clutch off the dresser and sauntered down the stairs. I could hear faint voices talking shortly down the stairs.
“Are you going to tell her tonight?” asked Liam
“I can’t man, not tonight. It wouldn’t feel right” Harry said.
“You have to, if you don’t you’ll regret it when she finds out later.” Exclaimed Louis
“She’s not going to find out from anyone but me, and I sure as hell know that none of you will tell her” Harry growled.
Well, that wasn’t suspicious at all. I rolled my eyes and continued down the steps into the foyer.
When I was on the last step the boys filed in, Harry in front.
Harry’s eyes looked me up and down real quick before grinning and locking with mine. Louis wolf whistled and Harry elbowed him in the stomach. I laughed as Louis winced and Liam stepped forward, reaching out and pulling me into a hug.
“You look beautiful” he whispered in my ear.
Harry cleared his throat “That’s my line Li, but thanks for beating me to it”
Liam stepped back and Harry grabbed my waist leaned down and kissed me. It was short but meaningful and I smiled. “You look beautiful babe” He breathed in my ear.
I could feel the heat rise up my cheeks as I looked down. Next Niall gave me a bone crushing hug and Zayn kissed my cheek. Louis stood by and winked at me saying “Use protection my loves”.
I blushed even harder as Harry grabbed my hand and pulled my out the door.
“Oh, don’t forget, you’re in charge. The younger kids have to go to bed at 8:30, Shane can stay up till ten. Don’t let them push you around, be assertive” I said over my shoulder. Liam caught my eye and I knew they would be fine with Liam and Zayn there. I let Harry pull me to the car as I waved. He had insisted on arriving in style, and decided to drive the Camaro. I offered to drive but he quickly shot me down saying it was ‘my night to relax’. I thought that was bull, he just doesn’t like my driving.
Harry drove for about 10 minutes before pulling up to a large glass restaurant with a valet waiting. Harry shut off the car and jogged around to my side, flinging the door open and offering me his hand. I took it and stepped out of my car. Harry tossed the valet the keys and dragged me inside.
“My car” I moaned. I didn’t like the idea of a random stranger driving my car. Hell, I didn’t even like Harry driving my car all that much.
“It’s okay, if he steals it, I’ll but you a new one.” Harry winked and squeezed my hand. My mind whirled at the thought of someone taking my car. Harry sighed and said “Don’t worry. Nothing bad is going to happen tonight, it’s all about you and me, that’s it.”
I smiled weakly and allowed the waitress to seat us. Harry had asked for a private booth in the back. Of course Harry Styles gets everything, all he has to do is smile and everyone worships the ground he walks on, including me.
Harry and I slid into the booth as the waitress set down some menus. “What would you like sir?” she addressed Harry. I could tell this was going to be a long night.
Harry looked at me and said, “I’ll take a Coke for now please.”
“Um, same” I interjected when the waitress turned to walk away.
“Do you think she heard me?” I asked Harry. He shrugged his shoulders and when she came back with only one drink he said “Guess not.”
Sliding his drink over to me he addressed the waitress again, “I’m assuming you didn’t hear my date, but could we please get another Coke?”
She smiled a fake smile in my direction “Oh of course, I’m so sorry.”
“You realize she’s going to spit in my food now don’t you?” I warned.
“Not if I can help it.” He winked. Confused I looked down at the menu.
“Anything look good?” He asked and I pointed at a picture of a bowl of pasta.
“Yum, I think I’ll have some of that as well” he winked.
Just then my phone rang. “I’m so sorry I thought I turned it off” I said reaching in my hand bag.
“No problem at all, you can answer it” Harry leaned back pleasantly.
My hand found my phone instantly and my eyes roamed the screen which read ‘Rossford Hospital’.
“It’s the hospital, why are they calling me?” I looked at Harry’s concerned face and answered the ringing phone.
“Hi, is this Melissa?”
“This is, may I ask who is calling?” I looked quizzically at harry across the table
“Dr. Christine Nelson at Rossford Hospital. I’m afraid to say that we currently have your younger brother Shane with us in our ICU unit.”
“I’m going to have to ask you to come down to the hospital as soon as possible so we can discuss more in detail”
“Yeah, of course I’ll be there soon. Thank you.” I hung up the phone and looked at Harry. “We have to go to.”
“Shane’s in the hospital.” I grabbed my clutch as Harry threw down some money and lead the way out the building.
