The Reststop and the Seraphim

I've always been more of a lover than a fighter, but that didn't stop me from being a hunter. The need to keep other people safe from the monsters that could quite literally be under their beds drove me to where I am today. I am known for my extensive knowledge of demons and angels. I have become a place of solitude and peace for fellow hunters. My story isn't all that happy but I make the most of it. It's all been downhill since Castiel fell. The angels have started fighting against the demons and more importantly, themselves. We the Seraphim, Guardians of Gods Throne, Angels of Light, Love, and Fire, have left heaven to protect Gods Throne in places far from Heaven. I am young, just a "fledgling" they call me, but I'm determined to prove them wrong.

5. The Last Angel

We search every book and I tell them every bit of information I have on Lucifer. But gradually our conversation shifts, to gods throne room. "What's it like, Cas?" I ask.

In my lap I hold a notepad and a pencil. Cas thinks for a moment before replying, "It's very grand. Full of white and gold."

I nod and take down notes. I have an actual angel in my house, I can't pass it up. I reach up to twirl a strand of my shoulder length strawberry blonde hair. "However, no one has been in there for a long time." Cas adds.

I look up and furrow my eyebrows. "Why not?"

"The final piece of the gate has not been returned." Cas says.

"The gate?" Dean says, puzzled. "Like the pearly gates of heaven that everybody needs to go through?"

He says it in a joking tone but of course, Cas misses it. "No. Gods throne is protected by a gate that the Seraphs used to guard. Unless he tells the Seraphs to let them pass, no one would get in." Cas pauses. "When the angels started to fight, the Seraphs left heaven, each with a piece of the gate to insure no angel would be able to harm God or his throne, though God has left heaven so it's useless. The Seraphs eventually started to return and give back the pieces of the gate, if they were killed the piece was returned as well."

A silence settles over us as I think a about the information I'd just learned. "Cas, if there's only one piece left, and you're the last Seraph, then do you have the piece?" Sam asks.

"No." Cas says, a look of puzzlement crossing his features. "I was made a Seraph after the others had already descended to earth."

"Then did one of the Seraphs not return the piece?" Sam questions farther.

"No they were thoroughly searched and stripped of the pieces." Cas murmurs.

"Cas, is it possible that there is another Seraph hiding somewhere?" Dean offers another suggestion.

My eyes widen. "That must be it Cas!" I exclaim.

His eyes grow wide as well. "Then the Seraph is hidden in its church." He says and stands.

"Church?" I stand with him.

"When they left I heard they each created a church in an isolated spot to hide." Cas nods.

"Well then we've got to get going!" Sam cries out, excitement evident in his tone.

"Let me get packed first." I say, hurrying to gather my tools.
