"Jessica hurry up! We gotta go!" yelled Johnny.
"Hold on I'm almost done!" she yelled back.
"It's not like we're going to the ball," he mumbled under his breath.
Jessica was finishing putting on her beige heels that went with her emerald green dress. Not too formal, but definitely great for dinner tonight. Her hair was down and in long waves, her make up was done simple, yet made her look older than her actual age. She looked good, if she did say so herself.
"Jessica let's go!"
"Ok, ok, chillax I'm coming!" Jessica walked out of the room, Johnny looked at her and smiled.
"Damn Jess, took you fifty-million hours just to look like that?" he teased.
"Whatever! Look who's talking" she teased back. Although he brother did look good in the dark jeans and grey button down shirt he was wearing. She grabbed her cocktail purse off the table. "Let's go Mr. I'm-in-a-rush,"said Jessica.
"Now it's my turn to say whatever," said Johnny.
They walked to the car and by 7:30 were at the restaurant and were greeted by everyone else. The restaurant was a new italian place, apparently rated one of the top places in the country. They were all excited to be there, and to be in each other's company.
"Wow Jessica you look gorgeous!" said Maria, giving her a big hug.
"Thank you," she replied, "now let's sit down and eat!".
They all sat down in a booth, and the waitress came over and took everyone's drink order. Both Jessica and Johnny ordered water, Geek and Jammer ordered some iced tea, Maria ordered a martini, and Michael ordered a beer. Once the waitress came back with their drinks she asked if they were ready to order.
"And what will you be having dear?" she asked Michael, flashing him an award winning smile.
"Um, I'll have the chicken carbonara please,"he answered, looking uncomfortable. Why does she keep looking at me? he wondered, It's getting really annoying.
"Ok no problem, your food will be out shortly," she smiled and walked away, continuing to look over at Michael.
"I think someone has a crush on you Mike," said Jammer, gesturing towards the waitress.
"Yea I noticed," said Michael.
"We all know there is only one girl for him," joked Jammer.
Jessica shot Jammer a glare. Jammer didn't respond, just merely shrugged his shoulders.
The waitress came back a little while later with their food. She started putting everyone's food down in front of them. She saved Michael's food for last. She leaned in close to him, and practically shoved her chest in his face. Michael leaned back as far as he could away from her. She also "accidentally" hit his shoulder on the way back up.
"Oops, sorry," she said smiling.
"It's fine," responded Michael.
Wow, is she serious? thought Jessica.
"Well they didn't look that bad," said Johnny.
Michael just stared at him.
"Johnny!" shouted Jessica.
"What?" responded Johnny, innocently.
Jessica rolled her eyes and glanced down at her food. A big plate of fettuccine Alfredo, with some garlic bread on the side. She wished for a good glass of wine to enjoy with her food, but obviously she couldn't drink. She snapped out of her trance when Geek raised his glass.
"A toast," he began, "to all of us. Hoping that we find new, and better jobs, and to keep our lives on track."
"To us," said Johnny.
"To us," the rest of them chimed in.
"Ah, now let's eat!" said Jammer, digging in to his lasagna.
Everyone dug into their food. They began talking about all the good times they had together. They talked about past missions, them during their training, and even their first impressions of each other. It felt really sad to talk about those things, since it was their last night together.
"Wow, I'm full! That was a great idea Johnny," said Maria.
"I will say it was good," agreed Johnny.
"I'm gonna go outside. Gonna get some fresh air," said Jessica.
"You ok? You want me to go with you?" asked Johnny, getting up from his seat.
"No I'm fine, thank you," said Jessica, and walked to the entrance.
When she stepped outside she felt the cold breeze on her face. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in. As she let it out, she heard someone come behind her. She wasn't alarmed, she knew exactly how it was.
"You didn't have to come out here," she said as she turned around to face him.
"I know," said Michael, as he walked towards her.
He stopped when she was inches from his face. He tried to contain himself, tried to force himself not to reach out and grab her. He resisted so much it hurt, he wanted her, all of her, all to himself. She was beautiful, talented, and such a great agent. He was gonna miss her so much, he didn't want her to leave. To his surprise it was Jessica who made the first move. She went even closer to him and looked into his eyes. She put a hand on his muscular arm, and one on his face. Her touch sent chills up his spine.
"I'm going to miss you Michael," she whispered to him.
"I'm gonna miss you too Jessica," he said, moving his face towards her.
"Michael," she said, pulling her face back a little, but Michael didn't stop.
His lips touched hers, and sparks went off. Michael couldn't resist any longer, and wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him. He didn't want to let go, he wanted to hold on forever. The kisses became much more passionate, going from soft to hard. Jessica was going weak at the knee's as she felt Michael's lips against hers. She ran her fingers through his hair, and felt his muscles underneath her soft touch. She felt safe with him, just as safe as she did with Johnny.
Jessica was the first to pull away.
"What's wrong?" asked Michael, his head close to hers.
"I...I can't," he whispered.
Michael pulled away a little, and looked into her eyes.
"Why not Jessica?" he demanded. His voice turned harsh.
"I just can't Michael. I don't feel right," she responded. Which of corse was a lie. It couldn't be anymore right. She was so confused, and she didn't know what she wanted. But she did want him.
"Oh Jessica!" cried Michael, "Make up your mind! I know you feel the same way I do. Why don't you just admit it?"
"How do you know I feel the same way?" she said.
"What was that a little while ago huh? Did you not just kiss me back? Did you not run your hand through my hair or touch me?" He closed the distance between the two of them. "Did you?" he asked sternly.
"I don't know," she whispered, looking down.
Michael sighed. He looked down at her, and then reached for her chin and pulled her face up to his, so he could look at her.
"I wish you luck in whatever the future holds for you. I will always be here if you need. But I'm done trying JJ," and with that, he was gone. He went to his car, and turned the engine on.
Jessica was left in shock, and tears welled up in her eyes. She couldn't believe it, and wished she could take it all back. Just then Johnny and the rest of them came out. He walked right next to his sister, and out an arm around her.
"C'mon Jessica let's go," he said, and walked his sister to the car. She got in the front eat and looked out to her friends. She smiled and waved at them for one last time. And as Johnny drove away, she succumbed to the pressure, and began to cry.
