The Cube of Kantor

When a mysterious girl washes up on shore near Telion's village, he could never have imagined the adventures it would spark. He, a young Mage and she one of the few great dragon tamers left travel across Kantor, a magical world full of dragons and sorcery, in search of a magic cube.
Here we have Aldrin writing as Telion, and Madouc as Katiyana, at your service. So enjoy the tale we shall weave, we hope we won't disappoint!

1. The Beach - Telion

The ocean lapped gently against the debris littered shore. A storm the night before had wrecked a large ship, and splintered planks and broken barrels were bobbing lazily in the surf. As the local village it was our duty to check for survivors, and so the majority of us were out wandering along the beach, although many just seemed to be treasure hunting, helping themselves to any valuables they could find. I kicked a stone and it went skidding across the sand.
A couple of teams of fishermen had set out earlier to search the sea, but neither had returned yet. Occasionally the mast of one of them would become visible over the horizon, dark against the bright blue of the sky.
There had only been two bodies found so far, and both had been thoroughly looted, leaving one poor woman left with only the dignity of her undergarments.

I have a feeling she's lucky to be left with that, and if it weren't for Markida, the village healer, teacher, cook and all round mother figure, calling a stop to it she would now be lying stark naked in the sand. I'd also discovered a small grey cat hidden in one of the barrels, looking like it had just had the worst experience in all its nine lives, which it probably had. It was now curled up around my shoulders, claws firmly embedded into my clothes.
A shout came from further down the beach.
"I've found another one! It's a girl this time!"
I hurried down, eager to help remove the large piece of sailcloth covering her.
She appeared petite and delicate, wearing a torn pale blue dress. Her skin was pale and her long golden hair tangled with the seaweed as it fanned out and mingled with the sand. She looked peaceful, as if she were sleeping.
Around her neck was a silver chain with a large gemstone hanging from it, which seemed to pulse with an eerie bluish light. Like a heartbeat keeping a slow and steady rhythm…

A/N Unusually this is written by Madouc, as I'd already written it previously. Future Telion chapters shall be done by Secrets Unfold.
