The Great Hall alone made me love Hogwarts. The roof was apparently bewitched to seem like the sky above, or something like that.
There were four long tables- one for each house. Each was filled besides a few empty seats at the end, for us First years.
We walked in and stood in a line. On a wobbly, three-legged chair sat a hat- the famed Sorting Hat. The Hat will choose which House I go into- Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.
The Hat begins it's song, but I can hardly pay attention to it, as there is so much to look at and pay attention to.
My name pulls me out of my reverie, and I walk forward to the Sorting Hat. I sit on the stool and let the woman put it onto my head. Barley had the Hat touched me when it shouted for all to hear: "RAVENCLAW!"
Cheers erupted from the Ravenclaw table as I went to sit down by that table. Glancing around, I see Emilè and Draco sitting next to each other in Slytherin, smiling and cracking jokes, and Charli in the Hufflepuff House. My heart sank. I didn't have any of my friends in my House.
I sit next to a Fifth. "Hello," I say. "I'm Adrianna."
"Yeah. I know." That ended our conversation.
So I turn and start talking to the slightly crazy First named Luna Lovegood.
"Potter, Harry!" We all turn and stare as Harry walks up to the stool and sits. I cross my fingers, hoping he's in Ravenclaw. "GRYFFINDOR!"
