Dan and Phil said nothing as they sheepishly walked off stage into the changing rooms. They were in stunned silence as they sat side by side on the sofa, starring down at the floor. Dan and Phil sat there for a while actually.
"That. Well, that went..." Dan begun to say.
"That was the best ever thing that I've ever ever done." Phil hiccuped an inhalation of satisfaction and relief.
"Omg I can't believe you did that."
"Thanks, I didn't know I had it in me. It went better than anyone wished for!"
"Well, you pulled that out of now where. It was fantastic, seriously fantastic! You astonish me you really do Phil. Thank you, for, you know..."
"Yeah, I know." Phil gently spoke with a spark of happiness in his breath. Dan and Phil looked deep into each other's eyes. " You know, I really couldn't have done it without you Phil. Seriously, thank you."
They sat for a while, bumped into a few celebs before heading off home. They were so happy about how well it went and how Phil confidently and happily delivered his performance. They just smiling and occasionally letting out giggles. However Dan received a message that broke their silent happiness.
"What does it say?" Phil quizzed.
"It's from Pj. He says Chris is with him and says for our great performance tonight (it was on at the pub, apparently) that they'd treat us to a few drinks. Only if you're up to it though, I mean, I'm a bit shattered but I don't mind."
"Yeah, well, me too but I want to catch up with Peej and Chris, and I'm too pumped to rest after that performance. But I mean if your tired I'll go home with you." Phil sounded almost apologetic.
"Okay, let's go there then, we'll head back after about an hour though okay, babe?" Dan suggested, unaware of his last word.
"Urm, 'babe' Dan? Did you mean that?" A surprised and somewhat relieved Phil said. Maybe he DID feel the same! Yes! he'd got the message.
"Sorry I didn't m-mean to Say that. Oh look it's our stop!" And with that, Dan rushed our of the car followed by a confused and flustered Phil.
With mixed messages, Phil swiped through and onto the damp and musty streets smelling like dust after rain. It looked like they'd just missed the drizzle. They headed down the street, people gave them strange looks as the wondered with their posh suits and looking 'all smart and all that'. In their local pub, Chris and PJ were sitting there, arm in arm as usual with a pint in one hand and talking with gleaming smiles. Then Chris spotted Dan and Phil after looking over PJs shoulder.
"Hey you posh idiots. Love the suits!" Chris sarcastically shouted over the buzz of people and low playing Johnny Cash album on repeat.
PJ realised they were there and turned around "hey guys, come sit over here, well done, that was a great performance tonight" and he gestured for Dan and Phil to sit opposite them. They were in a cosy corner with Chris and PJ snuggling up to each other, quickly glancing at a phone and then at Dan and Phil who were now sitting opposite them.
Chris and PJ weren't boyfriends or anything, Chris was gay but me and Phil never worked out PJ, but they are always together and cuddling, Eskimo kissing etc. It's just a matter of time before one asks out the other. Quite like me and Phil, except I'm not sure about Phil, so he will have to tell me soon. But I'm so tired right now so we won't stay long. I yawn ungracefully down to my left away from Phil into the wall.
"What was it like up there?" Chris flipped his attention to Phil.
"Urm, I was actually quite stressed before you know, but it went really well in the end, it just felt amazing after too, like a weight was lif. ed o Z nzff my shoulders." Phil smiled and gleamed at me. He was probably going to stay for a while here.
"Good good" PJ congratulated. "Now I've waited for this opportunity for ages" we were all of a sudden quiet and the room seemed to dim in light. Chris looked confused, but anxious in anticipation. Maybe this was the message he was waiting for. The atmosphere changed around us just from the way PJ said it.
"Listen, I know you have probably seen it in me for a while." He swivelled his head to face Chris, with cute eyes straining out truth. "I have been thinking about how to say this for a while now, and the best way to say this is with you guys here. Especially to you, Chris" you could tell Chris was welling up inside. Me and Phil leaned forward even more. "But I've decided to say this, Now. And... I'm..." There was a short pause of anxious waiting"I'm in love with you, Chris."
Gasp. Not. But I was fairly surprised that they haven't said it to each other before now. Seriously, they were perfect for each other. And Chris new it. But he looked so confused like 'why? Wha-what?' kind of look. Phil sighed and let out a cute "oh" and giggled a bit and retracted back to sitting properly. My gaze however moved to Chris who was still dumbfounded as his lip was trembling and blushing slightly. He was terrified, that was clear. But I had a feeling he wasn't prepared for this sort of thing. Not yet.
"Chris?" PJ was wondering what he actually was thinking, like me and probably Phil.
"Chris, are you okay?" Phil asked.
Chris just starred at the table and quickly got his things and got up and walked briskly out of the the bar and into the freezing winter of London.
We were all shouting his name after him trying to get him to stay. PJ went after him though.
"PJ , he needs time to think, give him time!" I shouted as he ran out.
"I've got to say it properly!" He called back. Me and Phil rushed out to follow him onto the dimly lit streets. At that moment sleet started to come down on us through the dark night.
"Chris!!" PJ called out at the top of his lungs. No one was about. Chris turned around, his hands tucked tightly into his pockets, his hair draping over his face, moving with the wind. You could only just see his face as he just stood there. PJ ran towards him. As me and Phil got closer to them, we saw Chris had tears freezing on his face.
"Chris, I really do love you. I have from the moment we met." His voice battling with the wind and sleet.
"I'm, I'm really not sure what to say to that." You could tell that he was genuinely unsure. "I'll call you later, I'm-I'm sorry." And he walked off into the distance, me and Phil stood there as the drama unfolded. Why didn't Chris say it back? We always thought he'd be the first! We just stood for a while, then realising PJ only had a short sleeved on. We couldn't see his face as he was just starring off into the distance where Chris had disappeared into. All of a sudden, PJ collapsed onto his knees in the gathering snow. Me and Phil rushed towards him and crouched beside. He started sobbing into the snow covering his eyes.
"Don't worry about it PJ, we all know he feels the same way, but he just needs to say it to you in his own time." Phil assured him as we both put our arms round him.
"You should stay over tonight okay? We'll watch something good on TV, and whatever okay? But first lets get your stuff in the warm, you're freezing" I suggested only to get a half-hearted nod.
Me and Phil helped get him up and wipe snow off of his trousers. We walked back in and everyone was starring at us, even tutting, idiots. We walked to our flat through the light snow of December. It will be Christmas soon and we were going to have it all together, so we need to sort out Chris by then to make it less awkward. He'll come round I'm sure.
As soon as we three got in I immediately went to change into something to sleep in as a suit is horrible to sit around in, and PJ was here so I'm not sleeping naked like normal.
Phil thought the same but quickly got back to the living room to PJ. I got in last as they were deciding what to watch.
"I haven't watched supernatural yet, it's just been lurking around and it's supposed to be really good, can we watch season 1?" I said as I entered the room.
"Yeah sure okay, you okay with that Peej?" Phil said.
He only nodded again, starring at his locked phone PJ the table. Phil put in the DVD and sat next to me while PJ was on the single chair. Before we were about to press play, the flat door bell rang.
I went to go and answer to find a shivering Chris on the door step.
"I figured PJ might be here" he cold-heartedly moaned in his northern drone.
"Urm, yeah, he's in here, I'm not sure this is the best time Chris." I awkwardly said feeling a little guilty after.
"Who's there?" Phil and PJ said in unison.
"It's-it's Chris." I shouted back.
"Let him in" PJ said. I gestured for Chris to come in and he ran upstairs.
I saw Chris rush upstairs to me. Time to face the music I suppose. He looked a bit battered and rough. His beautiful hair all over the place.
"I can't live like this any longer, seriously, I just can't. I'm sorry about the pub, I couldn't control it. I'm still in shock to be perfectly honest, but it wasn't right of me to leave you like that, I know what it feels like. So I just need to talk" Chris calmly spoke to me. By this time I'd stood up so we were less than a meter apart. Phil was up behind me and Dan behind Chris.
"Wha-what do you need to to talk about?" I shivered in my words.
"This." Chris calmly said as he lunged forward and grabbed his arms around my neck firmly pressing his lips on mine. At first I was shocked, my hands lashing backwards accidentally grabbing Phil. But I quickly wrapped my hands around his waist pulling him ever closer. Our noses gently rubbed against each others. I pushed him back a bit against a wall and let my lips wonder his. His kissed intensely, pushing a bit against my head. I lightly pulled our bodies together using the wall and moved my head to one side allowing our lips to part and tongues to dance a little. I scrunched his hair a little and he let out a little moan of pleasure.
I was so into this moment that I forgot completely that Dan and Phil were still here, so Dan coughed awkwardly but he was secretly smiling. I slowly pulled away from Chris still leaving a hand round his shoulder, our eyes never breaking contact.
"Well, I'm glad you're all okay, and that's sorted out now" Dan said moving his arms and shuffling awkwardly. Phil just starred in awe, probably because he hasn't kissed In a while (everyone knows how rubbish he is at pulling ANYONE) but I felt sorry for him as I didn't know if Dan had got the message that Phil liked him.
"Yeah, sorry, not sorry" Chris gave a death stare at Dan.
"Okay, Chris and PJ, do you wanna stay over tonight then? You can have my room if you'd like?" Phil asked with a gentle tone.
"Yeah, thanks, cool." I said trying not to sound sarcastic, it's very difficult not to.
"Right, so can we now watch supernatural NOW!?" Dan argued but it felt kinda awkward for me and Chris now as we'd disturbed their evening.
We then just all sat down me and Chris snuggled up on the single chair our hearts in unison, wrapping our arms round each other and resting our heads together.
