The Big Book of Dragons

This is the Big Book of Dragons! The very book you need if you want to know all the dragons to know of! Madouc and Secrets try to write about as many dragons as they possibly can, giving their names, their habits and behaviour, their environment; etcetera. All the dragons maybe from games, films, books or other forms of media, but these dragons certainly exist! But perhaps if you have made and drawn your own dragon, then tell us about it and it shall become part of our guide!

19. 18 - The Amatsumagatsuchi

The Amatsumagatsuchi
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd

A rather large being of roughly 30 metres in length and its frills on its back make it about 10 metres tall. However... wingspan is only about 15-20 metres long, very small for a dragon of such proportion.

This strange and bizarre dragon, with an outrageously long name, is very unique and truly awe-inspiring. It glides through the air and dances on its own winds like it was performing powerful ballet. Colossal hurricanes surround this creature wherever it goes, keeping it airborne without the use of its wings. And since it barely touches the ground below it, the Amatsumagatsuchi has almost vestigial feet and small, almost useless back legs. Its head is relatively small for its body size, though it is adorned with massive golden horns, flanked by pale white tendrils. What is also singular to the Amatsumagatsuchi is that most dragons roar a deep and growling bellow, but not so much the case with this animal. It more or less howls delicately rather than screaming a deafening and rumbling outcry.

As is already known, a gale-force wind circulates around the beast's body, keeping it hovering off of the floor below. Yet, the typhoons act as a force field in way, for projectiles will get caught up in the wind and render them useless. Moreover, it is not just wind that it holds power over, but water too. Using the gusts to pick up water and then once more to direct the torrent where it pleases, in the form of beams, great tidal waves or giant heavy balls that hit like speeding boulders.

How to kill:
Although this is another magnificent creature I hate to see fall, it must be stopped, for it is a hazard to all. Suggestions are to not use projectiles for the winds will render all of them useless and you never know, could be turned against you. So our advice is to go toe to toe with creature when it is low enough for you to reach and strike its underbelly. Although... if it possible, use something to trap the creature to bring it to the ground, such as a large net or grapples that will pin it to the floor. When it is at your level, it is pathetic and can be taken down easily.

I hate writing ways to kill a fabulous animal such as the Amatsumagatsuchi but it has to be done.
So good luck dragon hunters. And if you would bring me one of those horns once you have killed it, I will pay you a lot of gold. A lot...
