“Love at first sight is only realizing an imagination that has always haunted us; or meeting with a face, a figure, or cast of expression in perfection that we have seen and admired in a less degree or in less favorable circumstances a hundred times before. —William Hazlit
The ringing of a cell phone hours later wakes both me and Gwen up from our deep sleep. I get out of bed and walk over to the clothes beside my bed, I go through me until I find the ringing cell phone. I then realized the cell phone is Gwen’s. I walk back to the bed and gently wake Gwen up.
“Wake up sleepy head, your phone is ringing like crazy.”
Gwen is waking from her sleep, so I give her a kiss on the forehead and passes the cellphone to her.
“Guinevere Ryan where the hell are, it’s a quarter to eight.”
Gwen sits up in the bed with a worried expression on her face.
“I’m so sorry Emmy, I lost track of time.” I didn’t mean to worry you."
“Where are you Gwen.”
“I’m with Reichen.”
Gwen can hear a grasp at the other end of the line. She knows she has a lot of explaining to do when she comes face to face with Emily.
“You slut, I fucking know it, I want details when I see okay bye.”
Gwen starts laughing.
“Okay, bye Emmy.”
Gwen ends the cellphone call, and places the device on the nightstand by the bed. I walk to the other of the bed, where she is sitting, and sit beside her.
“Is everything okay,” I ask.
“Yes everything is okay, that was my best friend calling to check up on me.”
“Well from the looks of it, they conversation sounded serious, are you sure everything’s fine.”
Gwen places her hand on top of mine, as a way to reassure me, her green eyes are so beautiful that I feel like I can stare into me forever.
“For the second time, yes everything is fine.”
“So what would you like to eat.”
“I’m not hungary right now, but I would like to get to know you better. Tell me more about your life.”
“Okay, What do you want to know.”
“Tell me about your childhood. When your autobiography came out last year, you didn’t talk about your childhood that much.”
“Oh so you read my book.”
“Yes I read your book, I think everyone on this planet has read it.”
“Okay, well my childhood was pretty normal, until I was about ten years old. I remember my grandmother telling me I had to wearing boys clothes because I was a young lady, her comment really bothered me. All of the friends were boys and they considered me one of the guys so in my mind I was boy, but my body was that of a girl. So for a couple of years I made sure that my parents both me boys clothes and when I about fifteen found some writings on being transgender, it was as if a light switch went off in my head. It was the day I realized I was an transgender.
“What did your parents say.”
“Well I told my father first, one day I found him working in his study, so I decided to tell him then. I know that if he couldn’t accept me, I would go back to Reichen the girl, because I love him and wanted to my him happy. So I took a seat in front of his work station with my head held high. I utter the words that I was transgendered, that I was really boy trapped in a girl’s body. I looked at his face, his expression was full of worry and I thought the worst, that he was going to reject me, he got up from his work station and walked over to where I was sitting, he placed his hand on my shoulder and told me “I know son.” In that moment I feel I huge weight being lifted off of me, and then he gave me a hug, that seem to last forever. Later on that day we told my mother, who broke down crying, but in the end she accepted for who I was. Tell my other family members and my friends were easy, they all accepted me.” I really didn’t want to put that in the book, I felt that part of my was mine, that it belong to me, my family and my friends, that’s why I kept it off of the book."
“You have a wonderful family,” Gwen admitted.
“Yeah I do, but sometimes they drive crazy.”
“So Gwen what part of the book, did you find interesting.”
“I found the whole book to be interesting, but the one chapter caught my attention, was when you started to transition from female-to-male, when you decided to have the sex reassignment surgery, and how you were amazed that the doctors had constructed a perfectly functional penis that sometimes you would stare at it in the mirror, and that in the first couple of years after your surgery taking the testosterone hormone injections daily were not burden, but your normal routine.
“I’m very impressed Gwen, I can tell you really thought the the book was interesting."
“Yes I did, very much.”
“Now, your turn Gwen, what were you like before you became the gorgeous supermodel Gwen Ryan.”
“Well believe it or not, I was really shy. I was bit of an outsider my father was working for President Clinton at that time, so we were always moving around so when I became a teenager I started to come out of my shell.”
“So how did you become involved in modeling.”
“My friend Emily convinced me to enter a modeling competition at NYU, there happened to be a model scout there, and before you know it, I’m walking catwalks in Milan, Paris, London, and soon after that I met Brennan and the rest is history.”
“Do you still keep in touch with your ex-husband.”
“Yeah we still talk, he was such a big part of my life, that I’ll always want to be able to talk him.”
“It’s really good that you can still be friends, I wish I could be friends with my exes.”
“Wow, that’s a lot of friends.”
I burst out laughing, I realize I’ve been laughing quite a lot since meeting Gwen again.
“Well what can a say, I’m a very popular guy.”
“That you are Mr. Devereaux that you are.”
“Gwen what are you doing this weekend.”
“Well I was wondering if you would have dinner with my family, I figured it would be a great opportunity to meet them.”
“I would love too.”
At that moment I realized that I was in love with Gwen, and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. Which meant that was insane. I was actually thinking about asking a woman I barely know to marry. Yeah, that definitely proved that I’m fucking insane. So I asked Gwen those four little words.
“Gwen I need to ask you serious question?”
“Okay.” she says with a smile on her beautiful face that could bright up any room.
“Gwne Ryan, will you marry me?”
