*The next day*
As Harold steps out of his room, I called for him down stairs.
"Harold. I forgot to mention something"
"Sure what's up?" He asked, sitting next to me on the couch.
"I forgot to tell you about the procedures in this house. if you want to live here, you gotta follow the rules" I said.
"Um. Alright what are they?"
"1. Clean up after yourself."
"I could tell. This place is spotless!" He laughs. "Yeah... it's a habit" I say, embarrassed.
"2. Don't expect me to baby you everyday"
"Excuse me?" Harold's eyes widen. "Yes. Don't expect me to take care of you all the time. Don't expect me to wash your clothes, clean your room, and burp you" I declared.
"Hey! I don't need you to burp me! I'm old enough to not be burped!" Harold said. "Sure" I say, giving him an unconvincing look and patted his back. Then he let out a small belch. "Told yah" I smiled. He says a quiet 'Excuse me'.
"3. Don't eat all my food"
Then Harold laughs. "Like that's ever going to happen". I narrowed my eyes at him and gave him a glare.
"Alright I won't eat your food" He puts his hands up in surrender. "Yet" he mumbled ever so quiet but I could still hear him. I gasp as I lightly slapped his arm. He let out a laugh and I continued.
"4. Don't just randomly go into my room." I said. "Why not?" He smirks. "Oh wipe that smirk off you face. You know why. Hello? Ever heard of privacy?" I answered, giving him the 'duh, are you stupid?' look.
"You never know what i would be doing. I could be sleeping or doing my homework or changing my clothes" I stated. "Well... i don't mind the last one" Harold grinned. "You kiss you mother with that mouth? You dirty, dirty person!" I puffed. "It's in the Styles gene" He shrugged. I rolled my eyes.
"5. Ask permission when your going to do something".
"Like... if I wanted to kiss you, i would have to ask first?" Harold asked. "Yeah" I replied. "So could i kiss you?" He smiled. "No!". I said as he frowned. Weirdo.
"Last one. 6. Break it. Replace it". Harold raised an eyebrow. "Which means, if you break anything in this house, you have to rather get it fixed or buy a new one" I explained. "Ohhh. About that....." He started off. "You broke something already?!" My eyes wide open. "No. I'm kidding. I just wanted to see your reaction. You should've seen you face!" He snorted as he takes a sip of water from his water bottle but instantly started chocking on it. I shook my head in disappointment before walking away into my room and shutting the door.
I sat down on my bed, took out my laptop and started my homework assignment which is due in two days.
After I calm down from laughing and chocking on water, I notice that Skye was gone. How did I not notice? Probably went up to her room because as I got up from the sofa, I heard the door close from upstairs.
I finished the last drop of water from the bottle before throwing it in the trash can. Sitting down in one of the chairs, I rested my head in my hands as thoughts and questions rushed through my mind.
How long am I going to hide my identity of mine with Skye?
Do you think she's going to find out anytime soon?
How long am I going to stay here anyways?
Is this plan going to turn out in a good way or bad?
Will Skye send me to the slammer if she found out that I'm a criminal?
Why did this even happen in the first place?
Why did I just let bullies throw me around like a ragged doll?
I just didn't have the courage to speak up. Its too simple. All you have to do is go to an adult and report what's happening. And this misery will all end. But no. I wasn't brave enough. I was scared. Scared that the bullies would do something brutal, terrible, horrible to me. Or especially to my family. My loved ones. I wasn't even sure if it was the right choice of not. My family is safe. But I feel guilty. My family hates me. But I'm addicted to crimes and can't even stop. And now I'm hiding in this innocent girl's house from the police. A few days ago, I found my wanted poster in an alley once. They said they would pay thousands. Or possibly millions to the person that found and turn me in. That's why I practice on being sneaky. Trying not to be seen by anyone. The police didn't really have a proper picture of me because one, I move quickly so that only the cameras see a blurry/smeared figure when the photo was taken. And second, I try not to show my face around reporters and camera men. I know it sounds like I'm famous or I'm a celebrity but I'm not. Well, famous for crimes, if that counts.
I guess its been a while since I've been sitting here because as I slowly raised my head from my hands, I saw Skye across the table eating, I'm thinking, dinner. I turned my body around to look at the kitchen clock behind me and saw it was almost 6:30
I turned back around and took notice of the plate of pasta in front of me.
"I didn't want to disturb you in your world so I just set it there" Skye spoke up. I just nod as I picked up my fork and twirled it in the noodles. "You alright?" She asked slurping on her spaghetti. I didn't say anything. "Harold?". I looked up at her. "Is everything okay?". "Yeah" I mumbled. "If anything is wrong, you can just tell me" She assured. I nodded my head again and took a bite into the spaghetti.
The pasta is great but I lost my appetite due to the thoughts surrounding inside my mind.
I stood up from my chair and said, "Sorry, I'm not in the mood for eating at the moment. Do you mind if you could save this for later?". Skye gave me a questioning look. "Did I do anything wrong or-". "No no no. You didn't do anything. I just... I'll be back by 8" I mumbled and walked out the door with my hoodie and backpack that Skye washed yesterday. To be honest, it smelled like lavender. :)
I pulled the hood over my head as I walked through a small park near by and slipped on a pair of sunglasses from my backpack. Hopefully nobody recognize me.
The weather has been getting kinda better recently. There was a few drops of rain every once and a while but sometimes sunny. But the temperature dropped. Its freezing cold. Especially at night/evening like right now. The sun has began setting as soon as I reached the other side of the park. I looked down at my watch and saw it was almost 7:30.
I need to think of another plan if my current one fails. If Skye find out who I was then I don't know what else I'll do. There's no place to hide. Wal-Mart wouldn't work. Once I tried hiding somewhere in the bushes near Wal-Mart, and this FAT lady that had chicken wing stains on her shirt saw me and called for the security guards. I had to make a run for it, of course.
So technically, there's no public place for me to stay. If I camped in an alley, people are going to beat me up for sure. Or tried turning me in, just for the money. Even if I fight back. There's no way I'm going to win. Unless there's one person. But if there's a gang/group then I'm dead.
I know it makes me sound all weak but trust me. People are just going to slow me down.
For example, if I get into a fight with a group of people, one person will be calling the cops and the rest with keep me distracted until the police comes and take me away.
I can't risk it.
As I pass an alley way, two guys wearing dark clothes while smoking cigarettes stared at me. "Can I help you guys?" I asked."You look like that criminal. Jarry Styles?" one guy squinted at me. "Its Harry Styles. And your looking at him" I said furious. I just hate it when people get my name wrong.
"You got a problem with that?" I stepped closer to them. One stomp on his cigarette and said, "Yeah. You think your the 'bad boy' in this city. You think you can do anything you want. You think you can have anything you want. You think-" I interrupted him. "That's enough!" I yelled. "Who are you guys? And what do you want?!" I say. "You don't remember me Harry?" Said the other guy as he steps out of the shadow and the moonlight shines on his face. Morgan. The leader of the group that bullied me. The group that got me into this mess. "Morgan. I should've known. I'm guess puberty hit you bad" I murmured. Morgan looks a lot older now. Dark brown hair. Solid blue eyes. A scar runs across his left eye.
"Do you also remember Roger?" Morgan points to the guy next to him. "Of course not. How could I forget about Roger. Roger, the guy who betrayed me in the 10th grade!" I shout. "Hey! I didn't betray you!" He shouted back. "That's what they all say" I rolled my eyes. "The past is the past. Let's just focus on the present" Morgan said.
"You never answered the question. What do you guys want?". "The money" Roger answered. "I don't have any money on me". "Not your money. The reward money. You know? For your capture" He states. "Not happening". "Why not? I think the color orange would suit you best" Morgan smirked.
I walked up to him and punched him hard right in the face. He steps back trying to keep his balance but fell on to the ground. I then pushed Roger to the wall causing him to hit his head and whispered, "If your thinking of turning me in. I will find you and Morgan and make you regret it. Got it?". He nodded his head in fear and I let him go as he also fell to the ground. "Good" I said and ran out the alley before they could both get up on their feet again.
Looking down at my watch, it was a little pass 8. Skye must be worried. As I made it to the house, I was out of breath. I rang the door bell since I didn't have a key with me. Skye opens up the door and sighed in relief as soon as she sees me. "Where were you? You had me worried sick. What took you so long?" She asked as she dragged me in to the living room and shut the door, locking it behind her.
What should I tell her? Should I say the truth and tell her that I got in an argument with past enemies? Or should I lie to keep her from knowing anything about my personal business.
I think lying is the best choose for now. Just to keep her safe.
"I was out in the park. Nothing else. Just thinking. Time went by fast when your in your own world, you know?" I lied. "Why are you sweating so much?" She asked getting up and went to the bathroom. Then coming back, wiping my forehead with a wet cloth. "I thought you would be worried about me so I hurried back" I replied. "Please. Just. Don't do that again. I concern about your safety too much" she breathed. "You sound just like my mother every time I would slip in the puddle and scrap my knee when I was little." I chuckled. "Shut up" Skye grins. "I got my brother's habit of worrying for people. I spend too much time with him".
"Your brother seems like a really nice and caring person" I smiled. "He is" she utters before setting the cloth down on the coffee table in front of us. "Hey. How come you never told me about your family?" I asked.
Skye didn't say anything. "My dad is in a metal hospital. And my mom...isn't...with us anymore" She said the last part quietly. "Oh. I'm so sorry for asking. I didn't mean to" I say bring her into a tight hug. "Its okay. You didn't know" She whisper trying to hold back tears. We stayed in silence for a while until I spoke up. "So...about that cold spaghetti?" I said. Skye looks up at my and smile. "Of course. Who couldn't resist cold pasta?" She giggled and got up to go to the kitchen. She takes the plate from the fridge and asked, "Do you want me to heat it up for you?". I shook my head, "It's alright". Skye hands me the plate and I sat down at the dining table to eat. "Still good" I grin. "Thanks" She return the smile and set a glass of water next to me.
Wow. Skye is a very caring person. She's strong and independent. She won't let anything ruin her day. That's what I like about her.
