Baby Intelligence wandered through the halls of the MBH to the building's meditation chamber. Baby Strength and Force Baby had gotten about their business, and Baby Intelligence had an important meeting there.
He could hear ethreal whispers as he neared the room...and opened the door. Then he walked over to the chair in the back of the room. Suddenly, two white beams flashed through the window and folded into the ghost of his fallen mother, Rotta Hecks.
"I'm sorry for how I treated you," the ghost confessed. "I--I'm surprised that you still love me."
"Of course I do!" Peter replied, recalling his clash with NoHead where he inadvertently had let his anger flow. The words immediately came: "I forgive you."
"Now Peter, Mr. Stupid NoHead's sons survived," Rotta went on. "But I only joined them because there was no other way to make a living."
"I understand," Baby Intelligence replied.
"His three sons brought him back to life," she finished.
Baby Intelligence gasped. "What?!"
"The battle is not over yet."
Paige! "What about Paige? What happened to her?"
"She was murdered by Sebiscuits," Rotta replied calmly.
Peter's jaw dropped. "What happened to her? And Dad?" Surely there's redemption for them up there! I must know.
"Fine," Rotta replied with a slight smile. "They're all just fine."
Baby Intelligence breathed a sigh of relief...and then footsteps filled the air. "Someone's coming!"
"Goodbye, my dearest son," Rotta replied. "And Peter...there is another X-Baby." With that she folded into the same pair of beams and disappeared.
Force Baby opened the door.
"Hello, Force Baby," said Baby Intelligence, trying to contain what he just heard.
"Hello," Force Baby replied. "What's going on?"
"Nothing," Peter replied, although it had just hit him.
Just then, Baby Strength walked in and greeted the two.
"Ah, perfect timing," Peter replied. "I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news: Mr. Stupid NoHead was brought back to life. The good news: Although Paige has died, we will soon have a new member. A baby of equal quality, maybe more..."
