It went five years of my life and I learned to live with the grief of not getting the man I wanted. Niall never called me again and I knew, or I assumed that he lived a good life with his wife. Self, I came up at the ladder in the bank, and after those five years, I sat right under the boss and I was in charge of all the major customers of the bank. He was pleased with me, because I could work late at night and I never complained.
Des Styles, who may my boss, came one evening in my to room and I thought he came up with more work. Instead, he stood in the door and he looked at me closely.
"You know what?" he said in a hoarse and tired voice. "I think you need to have fun?"
I looked up at him and I felt like a question mark.
Des laughed and he came into the room.
"I'm having dinner with my family at a known location in the city. Want to come along?"
"But it's your family?"
He nodded, but he didn't think I would say no.
"My son's in the city and I think you will like both his and my company and it's just a dinner."
I hesitated, but at the same time my stomach rumbled and I had been living on coffee all day.
"Do they know it?"
Des took up the cell phone and I heard he was talking to his wife. He was faithful and he was such a man who truly loved his family.
"Yes Maggie haven't anything to do right now!" he said and I smiled a little bit. I had many times talked to his wife and she was nice. I had nothing against his family, but I had never met his children or his son. "Good, then I tell that to her!"
He put down the cell phone in his pocket and he looked at me with a knowing look. Now I knew that she knew I would come with him.
"Okay?" I mumbled. "But you should have warned me first? I don't have the right clothes and I..."
Des looked at his watch and then at me.
"No buts, we leave now!"
Okay! I must admit that Harry didn't look like his dad, but god what good he looked. He had green eyes and when he talked to me, he looked straight at me as if I were the most important person in the world. He laughed a lot and he had a wonderful deep voice. He had a style that wasn't reminiscent of rich children's style and I liked him for that. He had a hat on his head, an open shirt that showed his tattoos and a scarf that hung loosely over the neck. He sat next to me and Des sat with his wife on the opposite side at the table. I noticed early on that Harry seemed to like me and he was in good spirits.
"Maggie's single!" suddenly said Des and I blushed quickly. Why did he say that? Was it an important information? He laughed and he looked at his son. "And you're free as a bird?"
Harry smiled and he blushed too. We both understood that Des had a thought about dinner. He wanted maybe that we could get to know each other and that we would begin to socialize. I just blushed and didn't know what to say. I hadn't seen anyone guy since I threw out Niall and I had no idea how to flirting or how to began a relationship.
"I work a lot!" I said volatile, but Des didn't give up.
"And I'm your boss and I say you need more free time." He looked at Harry, and he smiled. "She's one of the best employees I have had. She holds all time and she do everything for her salary. Few girls are as good as Maggie's!"
Harry smiled and he looked at me. I think I was as red as I could just get rid of the face.
"But it's my job?" I mumbled. Des just smiled and he disagreed.
"And she cares about others and she has a big heart."
I wanted to die and I just wanted to go away from there. I wanted to go home, because I felt like an idiot.
"You know that dad doesn't need to say that about you?"
I swallowed and I felt Harry's breath on my cheek. He leaned slightly toward me.
"I saw it when you came into the room, you are unique!"
I was startled and I looked at him.
"Are you flirting with me?"
Harry laughed and he looked at me with a mischievous look.
"Maybe, maybe not!" he whispered. "You can try to find that out?"
He smiled and he notice that neither Des nor his mother looked at us.
"By following me out tomorrow night."
"But I'm working?"
Harry looked at me again.
"I can see that you are free."
I saw a habit. Many years ago, Niall made sure that I got off work and now Harry suggested the same thing. I hesitated. I perhaps fell for guys who were like that, or was it a sign? I didn't know if I wanted to, yet he attracted me.
Harry smiled and he seemed almost happy.
"Good, I'll pick you up at seven o'clock outside your apartment?"
"Do you know where I live?"
He was amused.
"I can certainly find it out?"
"You should go home now!"
Des came into my office and he said it as if it was a requirement. I looked at the clock and I realized why. I smiled and I blushed.
"So you know?"
Des nodded with satisfaction.
"And you both have my blessing." he said happily. "Harry's a great guy, but he never have time left to meet girls. He's like you. He works and he sleeps."
I swallowed. I saw at Des that he was happy and I felt a little sadness. That was how I had wanted that Nialls father should had been against me. I was surprised that I was thinking so much about Niall. I convinced myself that Niall was just a thing from the past and I had no idea who Harry was. We would just get together and talk. nothing else!
